  • hey wat is the name of the song

  • full version please

  • Thanks bee1vang for uploading this, and your other videos. I know some people like to pan this film, but I think it is touching, funny, charming, and moving. Charlie Young is wonderful in it. The music is outstanding -- I remember James Wong won a Hong Kong Film Award for best film score. Thanks to Tsui Hark for this great work

  • Use to watch this movie over and over..love the story line and the music.

  • hands down the best chinese movie ever!! none of the remakes can even compare to the original.

  • Great film, Charlie Young is superb.

  • this movie is indeed a great movie. this is my fav. out of the three version.

  • I loved this movie. Does anyone know any website to download it legally (or not..) please!! Thank you.

  • i find the girl pretty but too much white powder on her and sometimes they put too much makeup on her.. and sometimes they just don't at all.. makes her look like a real tomboy..

  • The song is call 梁祝

  • yep, i agree w/ you. this movie is one of the best movie i've ever seen. it's funny, romantic and i always cried at the end. I watch is movie over and over again..never get tired of it.

  • @ahRan38 the reason why you never get tired of it because you are a gay person. You had no life but watch movies.

  • @thechengvang1983 c'mon, control your demeanor at least. Name calling is something that belongs in primary school or kindergarten and is something we really should grow out of and leave behind ourselves.

  • what name of this women?

  • All, we are pleased to announce that we are in the process of developing a website for Tsui Hark, the site isn't done yet but the forum is open! Just type his name (TsuiHark) [dot] com and join us in the forum there, talk about your favorite Tsui Hark films! Hope to see you all there!

  • Of all the Butterfly Lovers movies/dramas, I think this is the best version!!

  • I remember this movie as a kid, it was so sad. :(

  • haha, yeah, stilla very good movie.

  • Does anyone know the song or who sings it at 2:25? thanks alot.

  • It's Nicky Wu who sung the song.

  • If anyone have this on DVD and good quality I will buy it for 50$ US ^^.

  • i have watched this movie twice in TV, they dubbed it into indonesian. the tittle was The Legend of Sam Pek Eng Tay, a chinese version of Romeo n Juliet I think. it's a really touching love story.

  • right on! its actually called the " butterfly lovers" but its consider romeo and juliet

  • i really love the song being played. does anybody happen to know the original singer of the song??

  • It's Nicky Wu the actual actor who played the lover boy in the film.

  • i have this is hmong version VHS

Anyways thanks for postin...love this movie so much

  • Comment removed

  • I love this story..I cried everytime I watch this

  • Yiang Shan Bo in Vietnamese Luong Son Ba= Yu Zhu Ying= Truc Anh Dai

  • No other movie can ever beat the Original Butterfly lovers. ;( sigh.. this is so sad..

though i haven't see the one with wu chun and charlenen yet. i hope it's as good. ;)

  • Be prepared to be disappointed with the one with Wu Chun and Charlene Choi in it....

  • yep...its sad that the new version is not as touching....this is the best version yet...i dont think anyone can beat it

  • Legend or not this movie, melody et cetera are so touching and beautiful. I am in my late 50s every time I re-watch and re-listen to this tears just gush down my face... Think this piece of music is so under-rated in the Western countries... And I am so proud to be a Chinese living in Canada...

  • @xeebra15 Yes I agree! I just saw the 2008 version with Wu Chun. It's not as sad as this version. This version made me cry my eyes out. And the song is more sad! And I want the song!

  • @xeebra15 I've seen all the versions. I will say this one is the best one of all. I guess it has a lot to do with chemistry too. they have the best chemistry.

  • I love everything I have ever seen by Tsui Hark , though he has directed over 80 films , of which I have only seen a fraction.

This was not his debut film however .

I think his first was in the early 80's.

    Thanks for posting .

  • does anyone know the name to the song that is playing in this part?

  • this is the best butterfly lover movie... hands down!

  • @hltsolo you saying this is a bad version?

  • This is an EXCELLENT FUCKING film. Been ages since I've seen this. This last song still give me tears. Charlie Young and Niki Wu at the time was real life couple. Tsui Hark couldn't of pick better casts for the roles. Charlie Young is a totally underrated actress. She is superb for this role from happy to sad as the mood in the runs from from light to dark in this film. Lots of symbolism like Buddhism and Confucianism. Oh and the music is breathtaking!!

  • can i have the chinese lyrics

  • I wanna watch Nicky wu's version, anyone know where can i watch it..? thanks alot

  • please answer my question below, anyone!!!!!

and the wu chun and charlene choi

    version was so freaking sad!!!!!!!

i think it mad me turn emo.....

even though it was sort of like romeo

    and juliet

  • i have just recently watched butterfly lovers with wu chun and charlene choi and i love it i know that some finds it boring or dissapointing but i loved it... it vas really a beatifull, sad and emotionel movie and i loved the chemistry between wu and charlenes. is it true that they acctually are popstars...?

i haven yet watched the original version yet but will of course do it

  • i think this version follows the story more. i like wu chun and charlene though the story line was sort of off but they're a really cute couple! sad at the end i mean really sad. it is sort of like romeo and juliet. this film is very emotional

  • i have a question. in the wu chun and charlene choi version in the beginning the subtitles say that the butterfly lovers were just a part of a big story. the big story is that one virgin boy and one virgin girl fell in love in heaven ,got punished and were sent to earth to suffer for 10 lifetimes man jiangnu and her husband were the first life and the butterfly lovers were the second. What were the others and is the big story true? this has been bothering me ever since watching the movie.
  • no this love story is original a story that pass people from people through generations of people in china. it is a story by it self not a part of a bigger story

  • so basically the director of the charlene choi

and wu chun version made the part about the virgin boy and girl up????

  • back in those age they all are virgin becuase of the tridional thoughts

i mean they make the rule so strick

there is almost NO way guys and girls can have THAT kind of contact

  • i don't know about you but.....i believe that part of the story is true.....i think that's why there are so many different dramas and movies to that one story.....but that's just me......i think this is a true story based on 10 life times of punishment........and i want to see all 10 life times!!

  • yeah i think there's three version so far

    this one with nicky wu

    one with peter ho

    and one charlene...

  • wow...i never knew that there was singing to the butterfly theme song....i thought that it was just instrument....

  • I saw this movie when I was little.. and I just loved it. It's like Romeo and Juliet, in chinese version..

  • how is this movie different from the one that charlene and wuchun made...is it a of remake butterfly lovers or some sort of thing

  • this is one of the earliest films based on the original story. charlene and wuchun's is a wuxia version of the original story, as its chinese title (武侠梁祝) implies.

  • hi I like this

what is the tittle of the other song

I mean, the song at the end credit

the same song that appears on the cave scene?

it seems like the lyric with 'ni' (niiiiiiiiii, wo ooooooo.............)

thanks. Where can I find that song?

    Please

  • orny? hehe visit my profile for a good time 2

  • i remember when my parent dubbed that movie in our studio called hmong studio..which was located in our store called oversea market in fresno cali....

  • i'm dying to watch a new butterfly lover's cast by wu chun and charlene choi..released in oct 9 2008. hope so there is not many changes will do.

  • If you're hoping for not many changes, I advise you to look at the trailer for the new version.

There's a big big BIG difference. It's enough to put me off from wanting to watch it.

  • whatever

  • the song is called the butterfly lovers violin concerto :) go to wikipedia and there is a nice article about this song

  • hi there,do u know where Download the violin concerto of Butterfly lovers song?

i need find a song that got singer.

  • the lyrics is: wu yan dao mian qian, yu jun fen bei shui, qing zhong you nong yi, liu chu xin di zui, bu lun yuan huo yuan, mo shuo hu die meng, huan ni ci sheng ci shi, jin shi qian shi, shuang shuang fei guo wan shi qian sheng qu. (repeat all)

He sings well, and if you listen to his other songs (Good Bye My Friend and the Xiao Shi Yi Lang theme, e.g.), you will find that it was truly him who sang the Butterfly Lovers.
