Is there a "coin" that is the best to save? What do you think about going back to "CB Radios" and things like that? Do you have any kind of water filtration stuff? There is water in your hot water tank!
There are so many videos on this subject... the list just goes on and on! LOL!
@BirdOfParadise777 1. it depends? For short term hedging of wealth maybe gold & silver in amounts that you can afford to lose if the market adjusts not in your favor? Its a gamble really. 2. CB's are always smart. Jeep guys have been living with CBs off road for years. EMP makes them useless though unless you keep it in a faraday cage? But who does that? 3. Water filter? Everyone knows about the Berkey filter
prepping is prepping there is no need to dis respect other reasons for prepping so next time keep that shit to your self. you have no idea what is ganna happen tomorrow let alone months from now. and youre such a big believer in natural diasters then WTF is the difference if some big natural disaster happens big enough to affect the world?! nice informative video covering the whole basic grounds of preparing tho. thanks.
@zackcat276 Because for one I am allowed to have an opinion. Also the doomsday preppers are crazy. Think about it. If you spend $100k on canned food and bullets because you are worried about a meteor strike that will darken the sky for 5 years or create a 500 foot tidal wave you are wasting your time and money. If you dont have a sustainable water and protein source like a well and a rabbit farm or fish pond your dead. Plus it will all get washed away anyway.Thats the difference.
@kaihoosi1 The sad truth is, unless you have a well or you live within walking distance to some fresh water and you have a micro farm with a green house and access to fish or you raise chickens or rabbits or goats and basically have a self sustaining food and water source...we are all screwed. Canned food and bottled water is a crutch. It will run out and then what? You will have to wait for supplies to be delivered by FEMA or you need to hunt for food & water. Its a sad reality lol
@IMFDB I have more gear in the garage. This is what I keep in the house. Our garage is detached. I would like some solar panels but Im on a tight budget and those things are bookoo bucks. I have a few other things on my priority list.
is it me or you didnt talk about first aid supplys ... in my opinion you should stock surgical sponges , sutures ( alcool is good but you have it ) "calamine" or somthing like that is very good for insect bites
@romeoneverdies You are right. I didnt touch on medical supplies much. This was day one. I just started and its has already grown and I have added more and more little by little. 1st aid supplies are on my list.
@Saltycrabs Yep the water heater is a good source and also the top bowl of your toilet (if you got desperate enough lol) and if you have any warning, filling up your bathtub full of water is a good idea too.
@juhsitfy153 Good point but i labeled this video "short term" emergency preparedness. nuke preparedness is on a whole other level and would be a separate video.
do you have a generator to power ur house bc i do!!! Ramen not a good idea bc with no power u cant microwave anything, caned foods are best and twinkies lol
@juhsitfy153 Good pont. I dont have a generator but its on my list. how much gas do you store for it? Its probably only good for 2 or 3 days at most if you use it daily? The noodles are just comfort food to keep our spirits up plus we eat those regularly so they arent really for long term storage. The canned food is the real survival foods. Im getting some freeze dried mountain house extreme long term storage foods soon.
@winterfreshmouth Im working on a video of my latest tac vest. I am 100% with you on the mag satchel. I am using my Maxpedition jumbo versapack as a mag satchel and it is pretty good as a grab and go bag. Grab gun, grab satchel full of mags...and GO! Backpacks and full tac vests are nice but they are much slower to get into action and access the contents vs a mag satchel for home defense. Glad to see others on the same page.
@Kuechel They are probably great but how much time does it take to put one on? At least with a bag you can just throw it over your shoulder and go in a matter of seconds. You can even put it on while you are moving which might be hard to do with a hip pouch?
@SOLOK1LLA Lol, someone on youtube mentioned that when you treat water with purification tabs or other chemicals that tea makes it easier and tastier to drink hot or cold.
Vegas, so many people and almost no water. That's what will drive the madness is the search for water. Don't forget a fuel source to boil water and to cook with. I keep extra propane and kerosene on hand. I am lacking in emergency food and extra water, this has reminded me to get on that.
@yellowbusguy Good points. I think us desert folk are screwed if there is a long term SHTF situation since water and fuel is scarce here. This video is mostly about "short term" preparedness. But you are spot on about the garden, toilet paper, water and fuel to cook. I'll see what I can do to address those issues for the long haul.
Good practical stuff there my friend. The small preps make a huge difference and will usually not make you a target like having the only home on the block all lit up. I'm currently looking at renting a climate controlled storage unit 70-120 miles away from my home on the coast and along my most likely get out of dodge route. I think it might be wise in my situation to have a cache stored off site.
@ndcouey70 Thats a good idea I havent thought of before. I have family 200 miles away in southern California but I dont know if heading to LA is such a good idea for us? If I could find a secluded water source somewhere in between Vegas and LA, that would probably be a better choice for a bug out destination? Its a scary thought having to deal with about 2 million other people bugging out at the same time? Where is everyone going to go???
You make some excellent points in your video. It's not about acquiring everything all at once, but starting small and doing what you can to prepare for any type of situation. One thing I'd like to know is what are you planning on doing about your garden situation since you guys don't get a lot of rain fall out west? Another thing to remember is do some major stocking up on old magazines, newspapers, books etc. because you don't wanna be in a situation where the toilet paper runs out. Great vid.
Especially since you're in a desert (Vegas), I would suggest getting those water barrels and have them in the backyard. Not only to drink but to shower and wash clothes too. Tape some water purification tablets to the top.
@mindofarock For long term survival yes. I do need to get a barrel or 2? But for short term I think we could live for a week on just water bottles since we always keep about 6 or 7 cases of water. I didnt show it but we have 4 more cases of water in the kitchen. We rotate everything. We have been good with cases of water on hand since the day we moved here. If we had any heads up I would fill up the tubs and even take water from the water heater or upper toilet bowl if needed?
second that on the whack job nutbag comment! I tell everyone I'm not worried about preppers out there it the unprepared I worry about the ones who try to take the easy way and steal from those who have when SHTF
@kalif151byccrew Absolutely. Its scary to think that there are guys out there that honestly believe they dont need to prepare because they have guns and they will just kill for what they need. i.e. only the strong will survive? Those are what I have guns for. Humans are by far the most dangerous and destructive force to ever exist. If/when SHTF I dont want to be around any people if possible. Its sad but its what I have to do to protect my family unfortunately.
@mixflip outside of youtube, NO ONE knows what I have prepped. FEMA set up shop at the school close to my house when the Japan earth quake happened cause of fear of radiation so I know they have this school in mind during disasters. I would definitely find out what public places FEMA would set up near you just for day to day stuff, nothing like being first in line. If you ever bug out and need good company I am in the NW near plenty of water. Just announce yourself before knocking on the door!
@kalif151byccrew I hear ya brother. Sadly no one at my job (that I know of) has prepped for emergencies and ironically I work for DPS. (the dept of public safety) Knowing where FEMA will setup is a huge advantage for sure. If it ever comes to that, look for a Filipino with a mixflip tag on his uniform and you will know who I am and you will have one extra resource in your corner. Btw way I like that video you made of your tactical ves/chest rig. Im building mine up as we speak.
@mixflip the rig evolves as do situations. I do mock setups for different situations. I totally let my mind wonder on that one. I have the mag satchel for lite load bearing situations and the plate carrier is for bug ins and so on and so on.
@kalif151byccrew And on a side note, being Filipino myself all the family members here prep and don't even know it. they are Costco/Sam's Club shoppers like crazy so they have crap for days we as a family can combine and survive anything. Plus a great grand ma that knows how to live without luxuries
hey, this is an awesome stockpile. mine pales in comparison. question, is that rack secured to the wall? i know you live in nevada, but in california, most of our large furniture, or anything that can tip over is secured to the wall. just a thought.
@rYOUokay Its just a start. Ideally I need more canned food and less food that requires water. The rack is not tied or bolted down but that is a good idea anywhere you live.
@mixflip for sure. i bought 4 cases of MRE's. they take up a lot of space though. i also have these food rations from the army surplus store that's supposed to last 3 days and it's just a little brick of food. haha. pretty much just calories. and i have these coast guard approved water packets. supposedly you only need two 4 ounce packets per day. but that's if you're just sitting there not doing any physical activity.
hey man awesome video. it helps. but for the losse cash, you should mix it up with 1,5,10,20 ect. dollar bills.you sure dont wanna have to spend 50$ on any little thing lol. but if it got that bad im sure money wouldnt be worth anything
@Vtrjfrost People have been bartering since the dawn of time. Even when the mongols were raiding villages. The regular good people traded. Ancient Indians traded, ancient Hawaiians traded, mountain men of the old west traded... if the system collapses people will trade and if bad guys try to raid good communities...people will fight. It wont be an easy life but history paints a clear picture of how thing could be when SHTF.
@bigtwo1952 Funny you say that. I already started. As a matter fact I am going to buy about $400 worth of silver tomorrow while spot prices are still around $39/$40 an ounce. @Vtrjfrost Very true. For a short term emergency like Katrina for example, money was still valuable for buying water, food and what ever since it was clearly a temporary loss of general public services. Now of course in the event of a financial economic collapse..paper money will be worthless. The ancient standard of gold & silver will return as it has throughout history. Paper has no value, gold & silver does and always will. Im buying silver as we speak (while its still cheap)

Thanks for the video. The contents of my emergency bag is similar to yours. I also have some sun block in mine to prevent sun burn if I need to be out in the sun for an extended period of time. Also duck tape wrapped around an old credit card to save space is good too.
@PonchTX Lol, I have SPF 50 also since we live in Vegas. I just forgot to include it in the video. Good point though. I keep umbrellas in the cars just for that fact alone. People forget that the original umbrella was invented for sun not rain in the beginning.
@sniper4usmc Im just going to make due with what I have. Spending $500+ on a real safe is a nice thought but right now that money is going into silver rounds before the spot price spikes. Historically when non gold standard backed paper money (aka fiat currency) inflates...gold & silver prices grow in value. It happened with the ancient Greeks, ancient Romans, 1700's France and the Germans just before WWII. I have already watched my 401k shrink...time to hedge what I have while I still can.
