  • WOW all I can say is WOW you have a true treasure my friend to me that record is like gold. And I don't blame you I wouldn't sell it either. I just started my vintage record collection and I love all my treasures, along with my 1959 record player there is nothing like the sound of a classic playing the classics :)

  • Is that the song from Star Trek Nemesis?

  • I've always loved this song! This is a lovely arrangement. Thank you for sharing it with us.

  • Would you ever consinder selling this record?

  • @FireworksOnThe7th I doubt it, I like it too much.

  • @FireworksOnThe7th I just so happen to be selling this record on Ebay.Matter of fact,I am selling 2 Wayne King boxsets together.

  • is this the original versions of Blue skies that was made? either way i love the feel to this version.

  • I believe this the origional version was recorded in 1926. This recording is possibly from 1946.

  • Thanks for letting me know was just interested. Thanks for uploading also.

  • Hey man, i don't suppose you have the ability to rip that vinyl directly to mp3, by connecting your turntable to your pc by anychance?

I want to make a remix of this track in the style of Deep emotional Hip hop. Thanks anyway. Peace.

  • Sorry, I don't have that kind of record player. The record is not vinyl by the way, it's made of shellac. Vinyl records would soon arrive about 10 years after this record was made.

  • No worries, interesting thought it looked a bit different. Sounds amazing though. Thanks anyway.

  • It'd be cool if there was a way to read the record with a lazer.

  • I believe such a device exists.

  • I saw such a device on television, it was thousands of £ it also seemed very limited edition.

  • I don't know what a "lazer" is, but there is a way to read records with a laser.

  • i cant find this song by her anywhere can u email it to me? please???

  • I don't know how to email videos like this. I do know you can download this video with a media converter.

  • do have just the music file?

  • I'm don't think so.

  • If you've watched this clip it's already on your computer.

  • @kossmikham Good point in the Temp files didn't think about that.

  • Amazing, this is really incredible, this are real singers and real songs !!!!!

  • I was just wondering how you found this record.

  • I bought it in a store in Manhattan that sold antique gramaphones, radios TV's phones and records.

  • This is my grandmother!!!!

  • my gosh! you make me feel ancient, like a museum peace. Thank you.. really. :-) keep it coming luv.

  • thanks much for this. Made my eve :D

  • this is delightful, i never heard of nancy evans before.

  • I own this record... It's my very favorite in my collection of antiques.I play it on an old portable gramophone,a german model from the war.. The sound,it's indescriptible

  • Does anyone knows if the original song (Irvin Berlin's 1926 Blue skies) is yet copyright restricted, or is it now public domain?

  • i'm playing lead trumpet on this song atm (9th grade) =P but it's difficult finding the right version of this song, there's so many

  • ella fitzgeralds recordings would be close to what youre probably playing

  • Tricky question. i like doing movie critiques so those genres are easy. i'll take a stab at it an call it 'theatre music', or perhaps 'musical music'. What do you think Desoto?

  • I'd say it's a mix between classical and jazz, like Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue".

  • I absolutely love this song. What type of music would you consider this? And if you could, please send me a message regarding other songs I should check out. I'm new to this genre, whatever it may be. Thank you!

  • That's a good question. I have a no idea what genre this record is under. I know it's definitly not the Blues, Swing or Ragtime.

  • I've always loved this song, it's atmosphere and the armony...

    This version is very touching!

I also like the idea of a fixed take of the record player! :)))

  • There's not much of the record player to see LOL. If I had an old gramaphone I'd probably not have a static camera. Another person on youtube explained it's actually better to play old shellac 78's on more modern electric record players because the old needles really wear the records out. In my opinion they should re-issue these classic songs on 78's again. Analouge has the best playback comapred to digital.

  • Just wonderful!

  • My dad was a big fan of Wayne King & Nancy Evans. He took me to many of Wayne Kings performances at the Eagle's Ballroom in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in the late 1970s. There was a song that he LOVED by Nancy Evans...."Come Dance With Me"

Do you have that or know where you could find it?? I'd LOVE to hear that song by her again.

  • I don't think I have that song, it could be on the flipside. I haven't played the record in a year so I forgot what was on the flipside. When I get the chance I'll check.

  • Great version! Makes me wish I had this one in my collection.

  • there was always something wonderful listening to the raspyness of L.P's. I still have many of my L.p.'s from the 60's and 70's. Unfortunately nothing to play them on !!

  • thanks. best version.

  • This has to be the best version of this song I have ever heard - I wish more Wayne King and Nancy Evans materials were availabe.... Thanks 1947Desoto

  • Your welcom gjb30, when I have more time I'll put up more videos from my record collection.

  • This is Beautiful... I really want a record player, my father has one, but I want my own.. Where can I get on?

  • I'd reccomend eBay. You can get origional vintage record players. This one is a reproduction.

  • This is lovely.

  • The song was composed in 1926 as a last minute addition to the Rodgers and Hart musical, Betsy. Although the show only ran for 39 performances, "Blue Skies" was an instant success, with audiences on opening night demanding 28 encores of the piece from star, Belle Baker. During the final repetition, Baker forgot her lyrics, prompting Berlin to sing them from his seat in the front row.

  • you would think after singing it 28 previous times, that it would have been impossible for her to forget the lyrics on the 28th encore. amazing.

  • Wow! that must have been a great show having Berlin right in the front seat. historic

  • Whao..thank u soo much.

And great shoot, u gave a suspended feeling with a simple touch, somewhat entrancing.

I just missed some smoothness in the end, like a fading to black and silence

  • congratulations...

did such a wonderful job on this video.

    michael

  • Brilliant,

Thank you very much for this

  • This must be a different Belle Baker and not recorded in 1926. The label on your record would not have been in use at that time. In 1926 RCA did not own Victor records yet so it would not be on the label. I know she introduced this song but can't find it listed on the sonic site where she recorded it. Can you tell me what the record number is?

  • I'll let you know when I get the chance. Thank you though for telling me that RCA, Victor label information.

  • Please do, I had another YT individual look at this and he agreed with me. We really need the number to confirm whether it is her. Thank You

  • I apologize for taking so long to respond. The record label says:

Blue Skies 20-1896-B (Irving Berlin) Wayne King and his orchestra Voical refrain by Nancy Evans. (The information I posted was by another commentor. I had origionaly asked in my description for commenters to give me details on the recording)

  • I thank you, a thousand thank you's!!! I love this song but I was totally unaware of this great singer. If anyone knows how I can locate her music on CD, please let me know.

  • nice record player. i have one but the needle's messed up and i can't find a replacement needle anywhere...

    anyway nice song! :) thanks

  • Thanks. I would prefer a 1920's Victrola lol. About the needles, eBay might some replacment needles.

  • well done, 1947Desoto....you've done a beautiful thing

  • brilliant

  • Can anybody find the scene fron Star Trek: Nemesis where Data (Brent spiner) does a kickasss version of this song?

  • I know what you mean. Spiner knocked my socks off!

  • thats an awesome song

  • Belle Baker blue skies 1926

  • Thanks!

  • I Know it's been nearly a year since you posted this comment, but I thought I should let you know, Belle Baker did not sing this version, It was Nancy Evans according to the label.

  • Oh sorry, my fault. Evans does seem a little slower than the Baker version.

  • No problem. I should have realized when I posted this video that it doesn't have the 1920's sound. Pax41 immediatley knew that RCA Victor label didn't exist in the 20s as they were 2 seperate companies back then or something like that. I'm not a historian of record labels (wish I was though). I can distungish cars from the 40s-50s though. I can also identify the era of certain Popeye openings as well but that's it.
