i think the producers work and have been working extra hard on making damon and elena's relationship epic because they knew ian and nina had the chemistry. it doesn't seem like they work on stefan and elena's relationship as hard i mean it just requires the: "i luv u" and the "i luv u too" their relationship is not rocket science
