  • I absolutely love this film. It's beautiful.

  • anti communist!

  • i was born in 1951 and i´m still here so ...

  • Lotte is one of my biggest inspirations, she is one pf my biggest hero's. What a wonderfully talanted, imaginative and unique person she was.

  • Kinda timely with the Swine Flu outbreak here in California!

  • Such an interesting film. Varied animation techniques.

Actually some good advice. Young children definitely "get" the germs in the throat the way she presents it!

Sillouettes are great as children of different backgrounds can project onto the sillouetted figures.

  • Interesting animation! Ones that use transparent pigments like this are very rare.

The silhouetted people look like Thai shadow puppets.

  • *Love* the germs dancing in Aunt Peggy's throat.

  • fantastic

  • interesting video to watch. 5/5

  • This is a beautiful film. I can't help but notice, however, that the flies speak in working-class accents and talk about 'organizing' and 'striking'. Among other things, this film is a subtle attempt to inculcate the fear of organized labour in children - ironic considering the strength of the labour movement in the UK at the time.

  • Absolutely agree

  • Could it be that those are terms more connected to the war then unions? that is what I think.

  • that was so cool!

  • Lotte Reiniger's silhouetted paper cutout animated films date back to the silent era, and this is the first one that I've seen in color and with spoken dialog. Personally, this is not the best I've seen of her work.

  • looks like the similar style of animation that south park first used.

  • I wanted the fly to succeed!

    Maybe in the sequel.

  • Agreed.

  • So good.

  • He sounds a bit like wilfred brambell, but he looks like him even more bless his cotton socks

  • People forget what a problem house flies, bluebottles and other insects were in the 1950's

in Britain and the situation wasn't helped by the fact that the milk and bread were delivered by horse and cart with their attendant droppings !

  • love the posh accents

  • Is it just me or does the fly sound very much like Wilfrid Brambell ??

  • wow
