I've had to learn that quote by heart when I was at school, so this kind of stuck with me as something fundamental regarding Kant. This is from Kant's "Was ist Aufklärung?" (What is Enlightenment?) I seriously doubt that anyone who has written something like that can hold any malevolence against man's ability to think. The worst thing that could be said about him is that he was wrong, which is something pretty much everyone today agrees on. I don't find it justified to call him evil.

In his book "The Ominous Parallels," Leonard Peikoff tries to argue that Immanuel Kant, and pretty much every other German philosopher, laid the groundwork for Nazism. Not only that, he actually has the balls (or is dumb enough) to try and take swipes at Ralph Waldo Emerson and the entire Transcendentalist movement for being 'anti-reason' and implicitly responsible. It's easy to see why the book's gone out of print (at least I think it did).

taking one phrase from Kant and saying that is what he represented is not only stupid, but completely misleading. Your sarcasm is misplaced because Kant may not have expressly thought he was attacking the human mind, his philosophy's values and principles definitely were. I may make an atom bomb for peace, but it still kills many many people when put into practice.  The motivation and implementation of something can be completely different.

I agree with davidngo4415 (4 months ago). What Rand was against is Kant's metaphysics, epistemology, and ethical system. Every thinker has good, rational quotes. It's just that Ayn Rand has them on the most fundamental level, from which all else must spring. (But great satirical video anyway--funny on its level!)

Hey Geistjägerin! To answer your question in short: Nothing. The entire video is meant as a joke. It's sort of an insider-joke as it's only funny if you've read Atlas Shrugged and had an argument with an Objectivist. Objectivists claim that Kant is anti-reason and the worst person in history. This video is making fun of that.
