@shortnails I don't know lol Like I said to fluxmaden it's not the real Singapore, it's an alternative version. In fact, they said the 18th century Singapore was not a well-documented era, so they mostly did what they wanted to do with it. But you know we do not get to see much of Singapore in the film apart from Sao Feng and his crew, so... it's not representative.
@titvan Actually, Singapore was a Majapahit and then Sultanate of Malacca territory until Malacca before the Portuguese conquest. Sultan Mahmud Shah was forced to flee to Bintan and established Johor Sultanate there and Singapore, as it was hinted in the history in the founding of Modern Singapore by the British in 1819, was part of it. British sign a treaty with the representative of a then disputed Sultan of Johor to allow British to set up a trading post and eventually colonising it.
