Hey Everybody! I have just released my new electronic album “Sub-Zero” which is heavily inspired by the world and music of the Battlezone game series (with a song even named after the ISDF's cloaking device Phantom VIR). If you're interested you can listen to the full album on my youtube channel, as well as download the album for free!
Games these days are monotonous recreations of each other. Imagine BZ remade. Imagine being in a tank: the HUD, the view, the landscaping, the explosions, all in drop-dead graphics and 3D sound. A near-stand-alone on-foot experience with an elaborate Call-of-Duty intensity to it. As an avid game programmer with the heart and drive to do it, this is my vision. And if I make it happen? I'll make sure the original BZ masterminds get the credit they deserve.
This game got a worse rap than it deserved. The RTS/FPS merge was done perfectly, and I was blown away by the campaign. Graphics were very nice too, especially the environment and vehicle models.
I'd love to see this series revived, but I think it's time is done. The funny thing is that if another game following the RTS/FPS genre came out that was done well, it would be hailed as new and innovative.
They should make another BZ but they wont. I don't think this one sold very well, and had tons of technical problems. The story was about half as interesting and the bad guys were overwhelmingly boring (I prefer Soviets over human/alien mutants)
@magicwalnuts No offense, but IMHO complainers like you stopped BZIII from happening. When I read the creator's interview, and he said they WANTED to make another, but PEOPLE COMPLAINED too much - it made me, a proud BZ fan, disappointed. Even Microsoft has to patch Windows 7. Why couldn't you all just support them (like real fans!) when the chips were down?! I'm in school to become a Game Programmer. If I end up in the right spot, I'll do everything I can to make a new, high-end BZ. Just watch.

I think both stories were pretty cool. I can't remember any technical problems in BZII that broke the gameplay either.
I agree with your first point though. BZ3 would rock. I don't really know where they'd go with it though. Perhaps it's better off that way.

It's possible. Pandemic Studios was bought out by EA, but they're still around.
