@INTIMIDATOR3FAN She is all original! Def. an odd truck for the east coast. Ive been looking all over the net trying to find one exaclty or as close as i can find to that truck but i just cant. message me for more info. :)
@104trucker blah, my toys actaully do something. whats the point of having something that you have to bring everybody to your house to show off? just saying
@104trucker i wasnt trying to start any fights or arguments and you cant say 'people like you' when your doing the same thing. (are you a woman, my girlfriend is saying your talking like a woman lol)
@104trucker piss you off how? why would i wanna look at you channel to find an answer for a question i dont even care about. and piss you off why? what the hell are you gonna do behind a computer screen, type you little finger to nub trying to outsmart me?
@WarPigRS restored? non restored, I would say 10-15,000? I'm sure it could still haul, but its geared so low, it only goes 52 on the floor, wound right up. The only thing you could really pull with it is a flatbed, or detatch. If you put a trailer on the truck, the top of the trailer is about 15ft in the air!
@104trucker well i mean diesel to me is a hard workin truck engine and if you cant even drive it on the streets to haul things around then whats the point.
I'm wondering what model of KW this is......or if it's something slapped together from a bunch of different trucks. The super-high ground clearance, the obviously heavy-duty frame, the floatation tires up front, the (I think) Mack "camelback" rear suspension. All that stuff makes me think it's some sort of one-off truck, as opposed to somehting KW actually manufactured that way. If anyone knows for sure, I'd love to hear from you.
@13craj they run anything. same with other trucks. But most GMC'S an Chevys had detroits, cuz there made by GM. But every company uses every type of engine, it all depends on what was ordered.
Greyhound ran a fleet of MCI MC-6s with 12V71Ns with 4 speed Spicers back in the '60s, first 102" wide bus on US roads outside of transit lines. They were limited to US 101 between LA and SF and CA 99 and I 5 between LA and Sacramento. They would eat up any grade on 101 in 4th gear, no sweat, fully loaded. They were later modified with 8V71s with Allisons for fuel economy's sake. The 12s were extreme fuel hogs.
@Fireheart528 VERY few MC-6s left at all. They first hit the road in 1969 and were discontinued by 1970. All of US Greyhound's fleet were converted, but the Greyhound Canada fleet (100 of them) retained the original drivetrain. The conversions in the US happened right around the time the last of the MC-7s were being built, when the first Allisons were being installed in MCI buses. That made the MC-6, MC-7 and early MC-8s have a common powertrain with the same mounts and accessories.
@tree25is thats one rugged truck right there; not one to fool 'round with. The ol' thing is saying "Get the f*** outta my way 'fore i shove you out the way, i got business to do!" when you look at the front end of it. Well, at least thats my opinion. Vote up if you agree with me!
@dontdriveforfree nope. it looks it because it was used in vancouver as an oilfeild truck, then it went all the way to maine for loggin, then to connecticut haulin BIG sewer pipe on a detatch and ended up in vermont.
okay how could you dislike this. just please someone explain how the fuck you could click dislike. what could you possibly not like about this video. please someone tell me lol
@dingus8888 How much would it cost to get one built like that using modern technology? Or if you could tell me where i could find one like it, i'd greatly appreciate it. I always liked the one-of-a-kind body style like this one.
@Fireheart528 I suppose if you could find the cab you could always mount it over a modern power train etc. Something along the lines of a glider kit. It would cost thousands.
@dingus8888 Well if i ever have the money and the truck to do it with, i'm going to. Just for the record, pausing it at 0:29 made me think that this truck was not one to fool around with--the front view makes it look tough as heck, and the built up frame makes it look like a logging truck.
@fordmanmudracer normally yes. in auto engines, aka 16v 32v etc. but in truck engines, 8v71 12v71 etc were teh cylinder amounts. or if someone said 475 caterpillar. that is the horsepower of teh engine etc. confusing at times lol
@AndyAjms no, on a detriot it means it's a v-12 with every cylinder being 72 cubic inches for a total of 852 cubic inches of two stroke heaven. if it was a 12v71TT, that would mean it is twin turbo AND supercharged. As it stands it's only supercharged (as all two strokes without a pressurized crank case)
@104trucker That's awesome, you guys are only an hour away from us here (I'm close to Bennington.) The truck looks identical as it did 30 years ago, just missing the JM Rosa signs on the doors, but you can still see the lettering in the paint.
It was originally in North Haven, Connecticut, used as the lowbed tractor.
The buzzin dozzen. They were fun to drive, but man, were they forever having to go to the shop. Never could keep valves in the darned thing. "74 KW W900, Extended hood, 246"wheel base, 5x4 with 4:44 rears. Used to run L.A. to Eureka, Ca. with it. Miss the truck, but wouldn't want another.
@mountaincat1000 I think he means the gears, 5 step main box and 4 speed auxiliary= 20 gears total.. I'm from Europe and not familiar with American gearboxes, heard many drivers actually prefer unsynchronized boxes but I dunno... In Europe trucks mostly have a "split-range" setup, one stick with a high-low button, starts over again when you flip into high so to speak.. And a "half gear" button when you need close steps. When it comes to drive, most cars are 2X4 or 2X6. 4X6 would be a "tandem".
@KapteinOpel oh yea i getcha and yea thats what most transmissions are today is like a 5 speed transmission with a split range toggle switch and they call them 10 speeds (just an example)
