This video has showed me some very helpful things like how to elimnate some of that noise I be hearing when I'm recording my guitar I now know how to properly use this plugin thank you! Big thumbs up to you.
This plugin has got to be one the most horrible sounding guitar plugins man. Im mixing a song right now and i cant get a dime of sound out of this thing!!
But if you reduce sample rate while tracking, there's no going back, is there? I mean, you mention taking the sample rate back up for mixdown or whatever, but once the (audio; not MIDI, obviously) source is recorded, it's only ever going to be as good as when it was first recorded, right.?. Seems like taking a bit of a gamble w/ a take here and there would be better than getting all the takes you want if those takes are the lowest quality possible:/
@yobhsiFehT By lowering it, it reduces the strain on the CPU while tracking like I said in the video. When you have more strain on the CPU then you are dedicating less of your processor to recording the track and allowing more of it for other less important functions. When you are mixing, then you will need it higher to allow for the greater processing required in mixing. I would suggest reading the ProTools manual for more information about Hardware Buffer Size.
Sorry, I don't mean to be a pain, I just guess I meant more "HOW does it do that [relieving strain on CPU]", but you don't have to go into more detail on my account. I'm not a super technical person anyway, I guess my ultimate concern was if lower number equaled lower-quality recording~shrug~ :)
Thanks for trying. I'll just stay ignorant till I have a manual to read, I guess:D
@AudioManiacDotNet i dont under stand by the fact that when i try to record with eleven free it dosnt sound like an acual guiar on an amp but it soulds like a guitar with a cheap amp with to much buzzing
@yobhsiFehT lowering the cpu makes the computer pick up the information from the instruments faster. if you don't have enough ram or things like that it will stop because it can't keep it. so the lower the cpu the better when recording. the reason you higher it for later is because it's okay to let it delay a little giving it time to think, that makes sure it won't be missing any information and you can hear your creation in full. hope that helped. i realize your comment was 9 months ago.
HELP i have a computer with windows 7 and i want to know what kind of audio interface i need to run with pro tools whats everything i need to start, i no they dont have a full version out yet but they have the beta one.
go to your local music store, ask them for autio interface that's compatible with windows 7. Don't listen to the salesman if he tries to convince you to get an audio interface that's compatible with vista for example, and tells you that you can download the driver from the internet.
Hey when i do this, i can still hear my guitar as if it were plugged into the mbox wihout anything, should it? i can barely hear it with the 11free effects. plus, can u only use that with a stero track?
hey i jsut got this software. <---noobie. DOes the amp work like a real guitar amp? I plugged my guitar into the DI input in the back of the digidesign box and tryed playing but the amp didnt seem to work? maybe i connected my guitar wrong. can you help me? ive had to settle by using a mic to record which isnt working so well lol.
Most of the time new people have trouble with putting the track in Record arm mode. This means to press the little "R" button till it turns red on the track heading.
Usually, it's the hard drive with your operating system. However, it is better to actually record to another hard drive to prevent drop out's and errors when recording due to search delay. An external drive will work for this.
I got pro tools m box mini2 taht came with pro tools le 7 and eleven le downloadable software for 500 dollars. How do you hook up your guitar to the eleven software? And how do you open eleven?? I want to try to avoid buying a multieffect pedal processor just for different distortion, so i'm trying to learn how to do eleven but i can't find out.
You plug your guitar into to the MBox Mini. In ProTools, you have to click on an Insert slot on an audio track. Select the Digidesign folder and find Eleven LE in the folder.
You should have a series of 5 rectangular slots in the second box from the left of the track if you are in edit view. Click on one of these slots and the plug-in options show up.
If for some reason your inserts aren't showing, then look under the Help tab and click on the Reference guide. Do a search for Show/Hide Inserts.
Thanks for taking the time to do this!...great review very informative. I can't wait to get my ProTools 8 upgrade for Father Day! BTW, what are you using to do your screen capture for these demos?
great video man :) i am getting a mbox 2mini soon and its saids it comes with pro tools 8 via download. Just wondered if this ment i have to download it from some site or does it come with pro tools 8 softwear included ?? Cuz i really want to use eleven free. What r yr thoughts on the matter??
It usually comes with a DVD of the software. Unless you are sure about who is selling it, I would be suspicious. If you are buying from an individual, be careful that the software key code wasn't activated or else you will have the interface but no software.
Yeh i have bought from this company b4 there gd so yeh i am not worried about that. I Just wondered if all new orders of digidesign interfaces come with pro tools 8 or do u have to pay for an upgrade?

Wait, WHY fewer samples for tracking?? You just said get it as low as you can get away w/, but... why?
yobhsiFehT 1 year ago
@yobhsiFehT To reduce CPU load which prevents audio drop outs. In other words, less blown takes due to ProTools crashes.

@yobhsiFehT The Hardware Buffer Size adjustment is not the actual sample rate of the audio file. That is determined when you create the session.
AudioManiacDotNet 1 year ago
@AudioManiacDotNet Ah. K, so what's it do? :D
(And then how does that change when you change it back after tracking?)

@yobhsiFehT Simplified, it has nothing to do with the audio quality. Only, for instance how many plug-ins could be used on the track during tracking.

Do you have any idea where the noise is coming from and is there any suggestion to cut it off?
Thank you

I discuss it at about 3:20 seconds in. The noise is part of the modeling. However the gate can deal with a lot of it.
