Does Jerusalem fit all the criteria of the biblical harlot? E.g does it hold a golden religious cup full of abominations in one of its hands? If yes, what's it (with unequivocal references)? Also does Judaism hold sway in all the nations of the Earth including fundamentalist Islamic nations & dominating their kings? All these aint likely. The RCC is the only 'church' that fulfills all these criteria historically & even doctrinally today as well. It started from early apostasy (grievous wolves).

The Bible is telling us God was dealing with these nations as he was punishing Israel for killing the prophets and Jesus Christ and using the Roman army to destroy the once chosen people. Judaism holding sway throughout the land simply refers to the old sacrificial system which was practiced and enforced throughout the 10 tribes of Israel. Islam was not in view in this prophecy.

It is true that Israel as a nation can only adulterate against the true God, as he did according to the books of major and minor prophets. @pemski2001 If you let the Bible speak, you will learn that antichrist does not refer to a single individual. In Paul's day, so many antichrist already existed just as Jesus prophesied before the fall of the Jewish temple in Jerusalem. They tried to deceive the people claiming that they were the Christ. So antichrist actually refers to anyone who claims to be Jesus Christ when in reality he is not. Does the pope claim to be Jesus Christ? I haven't heard of any pope who claimed to be Christ.

Actually he has deliberately left out important text from Zechariah 12:10 which is what a lot of biassed preachers do and highlights his suspicious intentions. He omits the 1st part of verse 10 which reads "And I will pour out a spirit of compassion and supplication upon the house of David and inhabitants of Jerusalem......... This talks about national repentance NOT judgement. Therefore Jerusalem is NOT Babylon

Maybe you mean "on something" like drugs. He is hallucinating what the Word of God says or deliberately ommitting important text. he quotes part of Zechariah 12 but not the whole verse. The part he leaves out is VERY revealing which is "and I will pour out on the house of Israel a spirit of compassion and supplication". This comes before the looking on the one they have pierced. In other words, the mourning refers to national repentance NOT judgement

The woman sitting on the beast is the religious part of Rome (i.e. the Roman Catholic Church, which fufilled all the criteria of the woman's evil properties via the popes of Rome) while the 'beast' itself is the geo-political component of Rome. Historically and biblically these tie together seamlessly.

They persecuted many many many more people than the roman empire and are still very powerful today. and lead people astray with false version of christianity. Simply read Galatians 2:20 and Romans 6 just for starters. "Judgment day" in Daniel took place during the Roman empire in 7:10 and then in Revelation 20 why should be any different?

Except that the Holy Roman Empire was not "soon." Also, the "Iron" and "clay" in Daniel 2 represent Rome and Jerusalem. This relationship is also represented as the prostitute and the beast in Rev 17. The beast destroyed the prostitute at the end of the chapter. The prostitute is called the "great city" at the end of the chapter. In Rev 11:8, "the great city" is Jerusalem and has other figurative names that describe it like "Egypt" and "Sodom." (cont.)
