I drive mine everyday and it also needs shocks on the rear. New ones went on when I replaced a rear axle few months ago and the new days shocks don't handle the weight hah. You say you replaced the b30 with a new one, I was wondering the difference in millage and feel. To say the least mines getting close to 270k
@xXCulverinXx haha! I drive mine everyday as well! Everyweekend I take it out of town to visit friends/family since my work I had to move. It's a classic and it needs to be enjoyed not sat in a garage. Yes, I couldn't hardly believe it but I tracked down a B30 motor that had 50K The bright red orange paint looks sweeeeet on on it and its sooooooo much more quiet and has a ton more power. I truley had no idea what was on my original motor because the odo stopped working years before I got it .
@xXCulverinXx I get about 25-27mpg on the highway going 55-60mph and about 18-19mpg around town. It handles beautifully only complaint is the shocks. Steering is still tight. Crazy but believe it or not I have what I believe is the original spare with full tread and rubber nubs in the trunk its a "Mitchilin X" made in france the dot year thing says week 12 of 74'. So that would be about right since mine was made in 74' as a 75 year model. How does yours handle at almost 30K? What year is yours?
@newvicon Does the new motor have a lot more power? I wish I could find a non American engine and replace mine with, the american versions had all the emissions control which took out a good chunk of horsepower. Its a '75 and it handles rather well for a 4000lb car. I put some new KYB shocks on the rear maybe 2-3 days ago and they really improved it. I just wish I got you're mpg, I get at around 16 highway and less surface roads. I do like the exhaust note of mine tho, it ain't quiet.
@xXCulverinXx Well, it took a year to track down an original swedish motor. It had 50K when taken from a 1972 164. I would say it much more powerful then the 75' B30E. Ya going 75+ the mpg drops significantly.
Congrats! Got hold of an end of series car which is normally rejected by purist collectors, given the plasticky feel of the new 240/260 series, so out of this lack of interest, exactly the transition series often used to test new elements to be mounted on later versions, became rare see the deign of the seats, the 164 plastic ornament (rare)... Missed once a '75 525 BMW sedan as full optional and the old 2500 6cyl, never saw a vers. like that anymore... Got a rarity there, enjoy it ;-)
@65emkay Thanks!! :D i love my 164! I just put a new B30E engine in it and its soooooooooo nice and quiet now! :D it drives like a new car! Although It needs new shocks. Ill get a video of me driving it soon on youtube! I enjoy it everyday :)

@newvicon I imagine if mine was the 4 speed with overdrive instead of the 3 speed auto then it would get significantly better mpg
