I was hooked on this show as a teen, I remember this was the season finale for the 2nd or 3rd season and they were sure they weren't going to get renewed so they decided they wanted to go out with a bang, as they put it. Then when it got renewed they just said everything that happened from then on was like two years before this episode.

when i heard "trust me,i know what im doing" i thought NO NO NO,it wont happen! *explodes* then i thought it was the end of the series,but when i heard "HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMEEEEEEEEEEE­EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER!!!!!" and saw "to be continued next season?" i was like "it isnt the end of the series? hell yeah!". i love this tv show as much as he loves his gun,it's like a law to watch it cause it's awesome

This was pure genius. I remember they did thid since they had no idea if they were coming back. When they came back, they remedied the cliffhanger in a hilarious way. Sledge Hammer was too good for TV.

This was the first season finale, and it seemed unlikley they'd get renewd, so they had this ending, which freaked me out as a child. The show WAS renewd for a second year, but ABC stupidly changed time slots. The second season opener just states that the series now takes place 3 years earlier, in a jab at the "Dallas" dream shower thing.Because of the time slot change, i thought the show was canceled, and didn't learn otherwise FOR TWENTY YEARS! Fucking long time to deal with a cliffhanger, eh?

The first episode of the second season took place "5 years earlier", to make it look like nothing had happened. The "nuclear bomb" episode (season finale) aired in May, 1987. The SERIES finale aired in February , 1988. What a great show...even though it only lasted a season and a half. Oh well...I'm glad I have it on DVD.
