There was alot taken from Warhammer 40k and Dawn of War. Especially the Terran. I see there added things but some are almost exactly like the space marines.

Wow, everything looks so alpha in this compared to beta =0

This was before Blizzard decided to dim the colors down and make them more gritty, everything was so bright especially the scv's jets. The bunkers look horrible in this, looks like a tinned can non the less a bunker. I thought building the thor independently was pretty cool, reminded of Supreme Commander but they got rid of that too. I think they got rid of most of these abilities for simplicity more so than nerfing.

alot of these features have been changed in beta, for example thors are built at factories now and the planetary fortress seems to have been nerfed

Good thing they removed some things. Cruisers are powerful enough and this lazer "shower" upgrade make them too deadly. The game still needs a lot of balance. It's strange that after so many years of development it still has so many flaws. Don't get me wrong - I like SC2 and am really looking forward to playing it, but for all those years they could have done so much more and not removing tons of abilities, structures and units to gain some decent balance. It's a waste of times and resources.

@CodeKyuubi The Thor is now by far anti ground. Their air cooldown is despicable and the damage to armoured is laughable at a measley 8 dmg per second for a unit of that cost.

And truthfully, against the Zerg and select Protoss units like the Phoenix/Void Ray (Essentially anything that's not of a Heavy class like Carriers, Battlecruisers, and Brood Lords), A few (5 or more) Thors will DESTROY in mid-low ELO where the players don't have enough APM/micromanaging to separate their air fast enough.
