  • that's exactly the sound i want.... which guitar would sound similar in a low budget (under 1000 dollars)? please reply. thanks man you're great

  • @AndreGole try a hagström, probably the best jazz boxes you'll find below a 1000 dollars... but it wont be as good as this 10.000 dollar guitar...

  • @TooChillWill ------------troll-----

  • @GregsGuitars You crack me up, Gregor. Count me in as fan. Great chops.

  • Do you sell guitars

  • OK, while the Es 135 is a great guitar, there is no substitute for a 175... except maybe an L5, which is out of my price range.

    Phenomenal playing!

  • Are you related to Stephen Poliakoff?

  • Hey Greg. Are using flats on the 175?

  • Beautiful playing on a fine guitar.

  • @GregsGuitars Best answer ever. Great playing as always Greg.

  • Could someone explain to we WHY an early ES 175 worth moore than an original L4c ( same year ) It has always been a mystery to me.....since an ES 175 is made of plywood....?

  • Hi, i have a old Ibanez copy es 175. It look like the one you play. I may change the originals pickups for Gibson. Is the classic 57 a good choise?

  • Greg, that's one of your best recordings! I just love it. The ES175 sounds fantastic and the whole thing is very moody. Thanks a lot!

  • この動画にレスポ Hi,Greg!could you tell me what's your using effecters in your this play?

  • Comment removed

  • I just purchased my first Gibson es-175 from the custom shop and love it. It plays like a dream. I just had surgery and now can only watch people play until i recover; it was a pleasure watching your video, thanks for sharing.

  • mic a fender that is class baby !

  • Hi, guitar-noob here. Is it possible to make my Epiphone SG guitar sound like this? Like, with effect-boxes of some sort?

    Thanks.

  • @ShayCarlFan1000 just mess around with the EQ on your amp. keep experimenting and don't blow all your money on fancy equipment

  • @ShayCarlFan1000

Get an amp modeler of some sort to replicate Greg's tube amps, roll off some tone, use 2.0 mm Dunlop Delrin picks like Greg, and practice like a mofo.

  • just got a 175 copy and stumbled across this, what an amazing touch you have, really enjoyed this..what a tone! lovely

  • I had a 175 Sunburst, identical to yours but sold it 10 years ago, I kept my 330 as I preferred the sound and feel. Both my kids are playing now and I wish I'd kept that 175!! Beautiful playing Greg...

  • I firmly believe this is Gregor Hilden,my idol in Blues.....are you selling guitares?

  • can i use that guitar for a rocking style like ted nugent? or those pickups arent enough for that sound?

  • I wish I was as good as you Greg : )

  • Quel délice ce son.....

  • Greg, this may be one of my favorite clips you do, just amazing taste and feeling...and tone!

  • The Gibson ES-175 is an amazing guitar. Some guitar can look like it but the 175 feels so good. I like the ES-335, a few Paul Reed Smith guitars as well as my Roland G 303.

  • which guitar do you like better the es-175 or the es-137?

  • Ok, you win. This is elevator music played by a great guitarist on top of it.

  • Where did you get all the money for all of those guitars?

    Are you rich?

  • @cgambarrotti

    yes

  • @GregsGuitars

I'm inclined to hate you for this... but congrats on having an awesome setup!!

  • @GregsGuitars

    BOOOO

  • @GregsGuitars do you seriously own all of these guitars man? P.s love the vids

  • @GregsGuitars what's your job?

  • @GregsGuitars ahahahahh that reply made me laugh my ass off

  • @cgambarrotti loooool

  • @cgambarrotti see his house LOL

  • Where did you get all the mney for all of those guitars?

    Are you rich?

  • Im gonna ask my wife to get me a guitar like that for christmas, Wal-mart has them, right?

  • @donnyrocker1 wal-mart?? thats a Gibby!!! Wally don't sell Gibbys.

  • Its like mall music

  • @helpdonate1 That´s really unfare. You should take notice of Gregor´s phrasing, feeling and nuances, his playing is really something. Hats off, Greg!

  • @Grooveitman I am sorry for my previous comment... Maybe elevator music???

  • I was wondering if the amp was a "blackline" silverface and if the circuit was a blackface AA864?

    You sound great!

    Thanks.

  • Great tone !

  • what kind of scales did you use. i want to learn

  • @kkakkevin mainly some C-minor and pentatonic scales.

  • dude what scale are u using , can you tell me the notes for C?

  • @EddyMendozaAlegre I'm sorry, you better ask a guitar teacher.

  • Brilliant. Great tone!

  • Same h¨ffner licks.

  • that's my favourite guitar!!!

  • good job man!!!!

  • could you send me this backing track pls?..its amazing..and I cant find a good one..but it iss!!

  • I'm sorry, I can't send backing tracks

  • then where did you get this?...maybe I can find it..

  • Hi Greg. Great video, love your tone. One thing I don't get. This guitar had the the original pickups changed for PAF 1961s? Where do you get those PAF reissue that you mention? I'm considering buying one of these beauties but want to learn more about them.

  • The Pickups in this guitar are the original 1961 PAFs

  • what a massive sound your getting just with one mic, man i love your tone, you got so much feel. Btw, is this straight into the silverface, or some light pedal that added the texture of the tone you've achieved in this video clips. You rock man

  • yes, 1 mic. The T-Rex delay might be on, but it is just light..

  • amazing

  • I used to have one in the days when you could pick them up for a song, I was playing with a funk/rock band then so I changed it out for a les paul artisan as it would feedback at low volume, I wish I had not as this is one of the nicest guitars to play in the world, tone wise it can't be beat,,,,, ahahahahahahahahahahah!

    Really nice playing man!

  • Hi Gregor - I absolutely love your playing!! Do you do any instructional stuff? A transcript (tab) of your playing on this would be amazingly helpful.

    Cheers

    John

  • What kind of Mic are you using??? The sound you get to tape (HD) sounds very natural. Also very nice playing Greg!

Question 2) What currently produced pickup would you recommend for a hollowbody to get closest to the original Gibson PAF sound?

  • thanks. Mic is an AKG D-320 B. IYou can buy yourself a Gibson PAF Reissue, they do a good job

  • Very nice style, sound, and good playing. Keep up the good work.

  • @valdrighi ist dort ganz ein verschiedener Ton in ihnen, es hängt wirklich ab.

  • hi! do you think there is too much difference in terms of sound and construction between an es 175 with this age and the new ones? thank you!

  • yes, there is a difference, the old Gibsons are lighter built, old pickups sounding different. But if you got a good new one it will be a great guitar too!

  • I heard that it takes about 50 years for the resins in the wood to crystalize. Plus the pickups were handwound and had more detail.

  • Absolutely lovely tone, this is the tone I hope to get when I bought a ES125 but alas no where near.

  • Do you play flat wounds on your hollow bodies?

  • Normally I don't play flatw. but this guitar hade some when I did the video

  • sorry but .. how much is ur guitar?

    P.D : great job

  • I'm sorry, this guitar has been sold

  • an epiphone is $500!!

  • What pedas are those? Are you bypassing them and playing straight from the amp for this tune?

  • in this Video guitar goes straight to the amp

  • @GregsGuitars Sweet! Pure Jazz tone. The rest is the hollowbody then. Great playing certainly helps too. Nice job, dude.

  • Wonderful tone and wonderful playing. Where could I find that tipe of playback??Thanks

  • wow it sounds and looks amazing...who ever this man is playing...he makes it look eazy...great video.

  • Gregor, dude, u r incredible. Its the upright bass on the left channel that is very obvious and annoying.

  • Hey, I did not made this playback. But you are right - the bass is on the left side. Very unusal but interesting too

  • Gregor,

I'm inspired by your great playing. Thanks!

    Wayne

  • Great job........all the way around.

  • this is great! i put 4 stars by accident though

  • Great playing! What kind of strings do you use on the 175?

  • I had some flatwounds on this guitar (was the strings from the pre-owner, so I don't know)

  • i recently got the epiphone es 175. thinking about switching out the neck pu for a '57 classic humbucker or seth lover. what do you think would give a more authentic gibson PAF tone?

  • '57 classic humbucker

  • What Year Silver Face Vibrolux...???

    I've got a line on an 80' that's Clean...

    Are they decent?

  • it is a 1968 Vibrolux Reverb

  • great tone, great playing, beautiful guitar

  • Man, you're great and so are those ES-175's. That instrumental blues video is cool too.

  • Hey Greg, this is one of my favorite vids on the tube! I love the playin and the sound you get from the 175. This vid is the reason why I am lookin to get 175! .KEEPON STRUMMIN........DALLAS PS I just wish it was longer.........

  • Love this!! Top stuff!

Where did you get a backing from? What key/modes are you using? Thanks.

  • Thanks. I collected a lot backing tracks over the years from the web - I think it's mainly pentatonik stuff I'm using here

  • This is great! Just got an Epiphone 175. I've been watching this clip over and over to get the tabs worked out. Is this a song from someone, or have you worked it out? Tabs would be great.

  • Great playing on this one Gregor, and beautiful instrument. Don't know if I'll ever find one left handed, but it sure is a dream of mine. Cheers

  • I'm trying to transition into this style from blues...it's hard but very worth it.

    Great playing and beautiful guitar!

  • hey very nice man. I'm about to buy the epiphone version and i was wondering if this guitar also sounds good with distortion to play some fusion stuff

  • Thanks. You really af to try this in a store before you buy the epi... could be possible of course, maybe with changing pickups to burstbucker or so

  • nice 175

  • nice tone and style!

  • nice i love it.

  • Nice Man keep at it

  • Thank you. Beautiful playing and beautiful sound. What type of strings are you using?

  • Awesome. Sounds like 'Midnight Blue' era Kenny Burrell.

    5 stars as always.

  • Excellent !!

  • How many guitars do you have?

  • I have a question greg, are those guitar you demo in your video all yours .... because you must have a bunch of money to buy all those vintage beauties .Tell me how you have so many guitars ! :D

  • Yes, they are my guitars. I have collected guitars since the 1980ths. And these days it is part of my job too selling and buying guitars

  • Sounds great Gregor. I know you've got a lot of cd's out;what would be a great blues and jazz cd you have that I could start with?

  • Hi, I would recommend the new cd "Blue In Red! If you live outside the EU you can order at cd baby com
