In case you guys didn't know: You're watching a video of true sportsmen, a rare breed these days. In Beiing 2008 they and their trainer lent their boat to the Danish team whose boat had been damaged. The Danes won gold, and the Croatians the fair play medal and some more fans in Denmark. Decki, vi ste heroji.
Oh! Where do you put on your Camera, so that always you are to see? I have so much Problems, with my 29er, never i found a good position put on my camera!
because they are clearly fit, can handle being thrown into the water and probably have a safety boat of sorts, it's acceptable to wear slimline bouyancy aids which are worn under spray jackets.
Remember, bouyancy aids are designed to support a player rather than keep them from going under water.
have you not heard of the racee top? its designed so that it goes over you harness and lifejacket so you dont get tangled. which believe me, is very important on a boat like that.
official figures are 12 knots, that is one of the best things about 49ers, not that they are fast, but that they are very fast in light winds as well as heavy winds. This is what gives them a portsmouth yardstick of 740something.
the boats are fairly expensive. i picked on up for 10k australian but it is from the sydney olympic games so getting to 9 years old.
and when you break gear, only bethwaites can suply you with vang arms, poles etc.
but its worth doing while your young because when your 45 i dont know if id be able to do it hahaha.
just do a bit of gym work and plenty of time on the water, over the winter and next summer my crew and i are going to be training atleast twice a week and racing on the week end
I found boats around 4000€ but I need to earn my money myself and in Belgium it ain't easy to earn 2000€ in a few weeks but I want to have this boat now!!!! :)
there's no way you'd get this movement from any sort of mount, and if uv sailed 49ers you know theres no way its ropes. look at the footage around the 2.00 mark and you see its hand held as the cameraman moves it around the mast. there's plenty of room for a person to sit for filming in front of the mast. in the really light stuff in both 29ers and 49ers the crew will sit forward of the mast anyway.
And they would be hiking out this much, weight in the centre of the boat wont help flatten it

at grade 1 level lifejackets are only made cumpulsary over 15odd knots so there isnt even a need for them when racing so why use them wen training?!?

ive just bought one, i weigh 68 and my crew is 73 and we are finding we have a bit on in when its 15+ but its definately good fun.
really difficult at first but its worth it when your doing 15 knots in 10 of breeze

What about the prices?
I'm a "low budgetter" and I'm looking for a boat...
Is it easy to prepare him before going on the water?

buy a good boat, dont take the cheapest option because the boats tend to go soft

no. there IS a third person. you can tell by the camera moving around the boat. great footage. thanks guys

boom mounted camera, controlled by ropes or a remote?
49er is a 2 man boat, and you don't sail it with 3 people, especially one in the middle.
Also, they wouldn't be hiking out that much if there was extra weight.

fichissimo! questo video è strabiliante XD
..io di solito vado su laser ma il 49er dev'essere molto più eccitante!

I showed it to my friend, and he said, that if he could choose how the heaven would look like, he would pick this one.
Unfortunately, we only occasionally go on regattas on my old 470.
If anybody would like to get in touch with me, and talk about sailing, I'm welcome.
Ivan, your movies are fabulous:D
