it seems like everytime i fix one thing with my new axiom, a list of other problems occur. example, i cant get the play putton to stay on...i have to hold it to play and i have my general midi map for creating a song set up and i always start with 140bpm...since hooking up my axiom it likes to bring it back to the 120bpm even though i saved the default template at 140...never had this problem prior to this. its only the second day of me learning this but i like to get my shit straight ASAP. HELP

@Djeugepr : this is for an axiom 49 - just hit "recall" and type 18 (or 19 or 20) on the numeric pad, the LCD will blink, and once it's done blinking the preset will have loaded.

Thank you for putting this all so clearly. I have seen the same general proceedure like twenty times, in print and videos, and I still could not get my Axiom 25's knobs working (learning). I THINK it was the "output" and/or "remote" buttons in the preferences, but whatever I did, I JUST FINALLY got an encoder to "learn"!!! (I have been at that problem for two days!!)

you know with all the knobs and controls on this, can it be used with any other VSTi and once you've set it up to work with that VSTi, with all the knobs be able to change the settings on the VSTi ?

so if have distortion setting for a bass synth, would moving one of the knobs on the midi change the setting on the software ?

i just wondered becauuse i would be using it live, and wouldnt want to go back to my computer all the time to go and change the settings, thanks, btw in new to midi stuff

@Ashjaah27 Yes, that is the exact point of it. Your best bet for controlling a full live performance would be something like the APC 40, check that out too

@triclops8 i have the axiom 49 and if ur starting off i do not recommend this keyboard becuz it has many things on it that u prolly wont kno wat to do....i recommend sumthing cheaper to start with and then wen u learn ur shit get the axiom its a great keybord the best part is the semi weighted keys

49 isn't more expensive than 61. Make sure you're not comparing Axiom and Axiom Pro models.

Alright. I need some major help, if someone could help me. I have a M-Audio Axiom 25 and I have Ableton Live 7. I tried the whole tutorial thing like this video said but it didn't help because for some reason when I try to go into input it wont let me choose anything. It stays the same and gives me no option. Ive been having the same problems - tearing my hair out!

finally solved it by manually resetting my axiom by turning it off, holding down the - and + butting, and turning it on again. this totally wipes the memory of your axiom.

I then was able to 'dump' from the preferences pane in Live and the faders and butting do indeed work correctly when recalling patches 18, 19 or 20

thats called latency, and that is a problem with your system not the keyboard. one thing you can try is to decrease the buffer speed, which results in less latency but not as good sampling rate. this isnt that big of a deal since the keyboard is communicating via midi.

yeah don't even trip dude, when I bought my axiom it came a lite version of Ableton and basically was plug and play. Even if its not, you can go to the m audio website and download the preconfigured files

absolutely wonderful video. i did a hard reset on my axiom to get rid of anything i might have screwed up and followed your instructions and all works great. if you do another one of these, could you please demonstrate how to put the pads on one instrument (drums) and the keys on another instrument (synth) ? i have searched high and low and found that apparently these need to be sent on separate channels but i can't figure out how to do this and make it work with ableton.

Just upgraded to Live 7 yesterday. Everything does work. Transport, pads, faders, everything.

I'm on a Mac, if you're on PC you may need to check M-Audio for new drivers. Let me know if you're still having trouble.

I just got a M-Audio KeyRig 25 Midi with software, but i have vista. Do you know if there is a compatable version of the software that works with vista. And I also have ableton 6.0.9. Is there an update that alows the keyrig to sync up with the software?

Not sure to be honest....I'm am Mac guy. I believe Vista is now supported at M-Audio and Ableton. Perhaps there are updates you can download there.
