@B789c Hummers suck anyway and the Tahoe is a bit heavy for off roading. I think the Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Grand Cherokee, and even the Jeep Commander (which is unfortunately discontinued) are perfect off road vehicles. U.S. makes the best pick up trucks in the world too, like the Ford F Series, the Rams, the Chevy Silverados, and the GMC Sierras.

The hilux is a great all purpose 4x4 all it needs is a front end lift with new springs and struts for better clearance ... Also dump the side steps ... They just get in the way.

might i speak with wisdom, the former toyota hilux is a fine and strong car, but this new one has a weak payload, weak suspension and it fails, if you want a tough hilux get the old one, if you want on-road speed get this one... other options may be mitsubishi l200 which is versatile
most of these come with diff lock, at least in the rear. learn to use it, learn to drive, and you will find yourself coasting through moments like these.

You can be as patriotic as you like but I want a car that is cheap to buy run and repair, does the job and doesn't brake down all the time. American cars aren't that good. Hence the sales of Jap cars are higher over the world.

Toyotas get more sells for 2 reasons.There claims toward helping the environment and there availability in Europe. Your right, there cheap made. Too cheap. Thats why they fail so often in qual.ratings. American vehicles may be more expensive-thats because their more reliable. American vehicles do the job and dont break down. How many jap commercial trucks do you see out on the roads? VERY few. I can think of maybe Isuzu. The rest are freightliner, kenworth, peterbilt, mack,etc.There American.

Mercedes trucks are used all over the middle east that says a lot for a truck made in Germany.

first off toyota was the EPA top pick. second off gm and ford are avalible in europe.
also the real reason they sell more cars is value and reputation. isuzu is a gm company.
have you ever been to japan? there are no room for commercial trucks. so why would they build one? in europe they rarely use any of those brands of commercial trucks. normaly they use renualt, merc. and volvo. and american cars are not cheeper compare a tocoma to a canyon. the canyon is about 6-8k cheeper.(after rebaits)

Ford Fusion hybrid gets better mileage and better power than the prius and the fusion looks a hell lot better and its bigger. toyota sucks. i agree American vehicles are more reliable and not only that but they dont try to kill people.

well that's your opinion, and i respect it. some of Chevy's cars have really stepped up in saving gas. some of there cars can get great mileage with some fine power. and fords hybrids are saving gas just fine. and there V8s are not that bad on gas too. So some cars can be gas guzzlers. but every car company has a few gas guzzlers, even the europeans.

Toyota is #1 seller in Australia because of the reputation they have of range of models, value for money, re-sale value, warrenty, service costs and the list goes on. It would be too expensive to ship heavy freight trucks from Japan, Europe or even Australia and the market share would be too small, thats why!

might i speak with wisdom, the former toyota hilux is a fine and strong car, but this new one has a weak payload, weak suspension and it fails, if you want a tough hilux get the old one, if you want on-road speed get this one... other options may be mitsubishi l200 which is versatile

They have drivetrain problems, rear diff and gearbox don't last too long. Seen a couple with transfer box problems too.
