  • this was a very interesting performance. at times it was difficult to tell who was singing (well it would have been if i didnt know the show). but im assuming you did that on purpose. it added a very intriguing dynamic. almost like they were becoming one. i liked it.

  • i think it is, for me, interesting to note, having been blessed to see three different that Robert Cuccioli, a former Javert, is the greater Hyde. Robert Evan, a former Val Jean, is a stronger Jekyll. Joseph Mahwold(sp), an Enjolras, is rather an even keel. No more one then the other. As to you, a fine performance. i will say this, the turn table WORKS for Hyde. it does add an amazing dimension to the scene. As Hyde, you use it well. and, knowing that it is there, for video, i do appreciate it.

  • STOP REVOLVING!

  • Amazing Hyde performance. Jekyll as well.

  • Wow that was really good. Bravo!!!!

  • this was awesome

  • THANK YOU thank thank you for not doing the hair flip thing. This was a million times better. And excellently done!

  • I would have loved to see you perform! :) Wonderful job!

  • You did a FANTASTIC job. Bravo! If Cuccioli ever returns to the stage to reprise this role, you can be his understudy. You did a terrific job....singing and acting.

  • I'd say very good overall. the one big problem I had with it was that you spoke/shouted through the climactic moment from 2:33-2:55. this song's claim to fame is the vocal challenge it demands of its performer and if you ignore that then it's a disappointment to the listener. if you can NAIL those long, held out notes as the pit pounds out those down-beats you'll be damn near unstoppable. good work!

  • .. now i wanna see the musical! Great acting

  • Ah, I love the moving stage. Adds a lot of atmosphere. :) Bravo!

  • Excellent job and I'm the biggest J & H fan

  • not too bad, the conveyer belt was pretty cool but jekyll was lacking passion. All around not bad though (better than hasselhoff =P )

  • wow....just wow. This may be the best confrontation I've seen. And I've seen a lot!

  • Amazing. a very well done. gosh, im proud of you and i dont even know you ha :)

  • I enjoy your performances but this one lacks the emotion needed it feels as you were just singing a song.Maybe even trying too hard to be Hyde.

  • I think this is one of the better performances out there, especially for community theater! This is a really difficult song to do, both vocally and from a staging point of view. There were some times where the sound didn't pick up very well, but I think that's more the fault of the recording equipment :) I hope there's more of the play posted on here?

  • i think you are extremly talented and you have a a truly proffessional voice, however the revolving stage i think toof the attention away from you teriffic singing but thats not your fault. I also think you need to make hyde more sinister and mad but out of the two i prefer your performance as hyde

4/5 very well done keep posting :D

  • I think Hasselhoff did better. Your performance was still good though.

  • The problem is that the distinction between Jekyll and Hyde is done very poorly. The transitions and movements get very sloppy to the point where I wouldn't know when it was Hyde and when it was Jekyll if I hadn't seen other performances of this song. I feel like anyone who doesn't know the show is getting a bad impression from this confusing video.

  • Singing isn't bad, presentation/acting/movement is horrid.

  • Great at the begginning, sloppy at the end.

  • what the f.... is this

  • I liked how you put in alot of movement, but you could do a little better on voice transition.

  • yea it wasnt good...your slow

  • terrible.

  • it sucked

  • you suck...

  • That stage is awesome

  • do you mean it serious??

  • shut the fuck up

  • wow that was ag great moonwalk^^

  • Great performance and great singing! I never liked this kind of performing which shows as a small and bowing creature as for me Hyde triumphs here so he should be the one standing tall and Jekyll the one bowing in fear but that's not your fault and I think the way you play it is really good also on the acting part! Very good!

  • I thought they were supposed to be two completely different people?, and thats the way Hyde was described in the book...all hunched over and what not.

  • As far as visual appearance goes yes, but Hyde and Jekyll are not two completely different people as Hyde is just Jekyll without morals so to say. Hyde consists purely of Jekylls desires and Jekyll says in the book that he cares for Hyde like a father. I just think this performance focuses too much on Hyde being primitive whereas Hyde just lacks Jekylls morals, but not his intelligence and if I remember correctly Hyde is actually physically stronger then Jekyl. Just my oppinion :)

  • I completely agree with you. If Jekyll and Hyde were two different people, it would defeat Hyde's argument at the end that "I am you, YOU are HYDE!!" In my opinion, the book and play are a commentary on the true nature of man: good or evil? Jekyll learns that you can't simply remove the evil from within you. It's as much a part of you as your moral, refined side. I'm playing this part in my high school so I've thought a great deal about this. So yeah, I'm in complete agreement with Altairograph.

  • the direction is wierd, why is he trying to shoot himself? never seen it lke tht b4

  • oooooh, moving stage. impressive performance!

  • You have to play Javert from Les Miserables. Seriously. I'd go see you for that, definetly. You have the perfect pitches and you're even the right height!!! :)

  • very nice very nice! I thought it was professional until i read that it was community theater. I like your transitions they are perfect!

  • *claps* you've got a rather awesome voice ^^ fit the role perfectly.

  • Haha. Neat, very theatrical... but he kind of just did a roundhouse kick to the sheet music

  • Roundhouse kick is a MAJOR understatement :P

  • waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to slow

  • way too slow and reserved should be ...... more it is the big moment in the show after all

  • Ah finnally! ever since i first heard this song, i pictured him trying to commit suicide. when i saw the videos i was so disappointed that they didnt really over play that. Nice work!

  • you should get your theatre to do les mis on this stage, and try out for javert!

  • woah. odd. but awesome!

  • that was amazing.

the rotating stage was awesome in the video but it must've been even more intense live.

    ultra well done

  • rotating stage was unecessary...

  • .....but it was AWESOME.

  • Wow, dude! I think yours is actually the best version of Confrontation that I've ever seen, honestly! :3 The rotating stage made everything so off-kilter and added to the scene beautifully!

  • wow, i was totally blown away by this clip, its nothing short of just stunning. Well done. You should be on Broadway.

  • Finally someone who isn't Cuccioli grasping who and what Hyde should be. Brilliant sir!!

  • God, he`s brilliant

  • Excellent! You nailed this very difficult song. The rotating platform was a nice touch. It's fun to see what community theatres do with this show. It's nice to see something different than the standard Broadway sets, costumes, and choreography, as much as I love them. Do you have more J&H videos?

  • Great! You rock dude! Your singing is really good, the one thing I didn't like is the overdone performance, but I never saw a video with a performance I liked.

But your singing is really very good!

  • this is actually amazing!

  • The staging was great...you were pretty darn good as well. Dare I say better than the Hoff, then again who isn't ;)

  • Hell, I could probably do better than the Hoff, and I'm a woman.

  • XD!! Amazing. You should try. :D I tried once at Someone Like You and failed. XD

I have tried Confrontation, but, yeah. Since I'm not a guy it sounds like crud.

  • I wish I could sing Confrontation :P I'm a woman lol.

  • xD I am too. Well, teen. : /

  • what is under you making you move? I've never seen Confrontation done this way before.

  • Nicely done...I enjoyed the rotating platform...Makes the scene more interesting and makes the audience think that the battle is in his head...Excellent

  • Major Props dude...really good job!

  • Emotionaly, physicly, mentaly this is just a very hard song to do. And just for doing it you derserve the up most respect. The one thing that I have not been able to see in ANY of the videos of confrontation so far. including, is a 'true' change in presonality between Jekyll and Hyde, which is why I usualy don't like anyones performance of this song. Most people do it as you have done, Try to change posture, change abit of their vocal tone. but really it's just a guy going form pissed to sad.

  • I agree with that, in the standard Broadway performance Hide is portrayed as some kind of monster, as totally seperat from Jekyll but (and that makes the book so outstanding) Hide is a PART of Jekyll and he is as much Hide as he is Jekyll. Jekyll is so much portrayed as the good guy, the hero, yet HE has unleashed Hide and he IS Hide so what he really is fighting is his inner evil. So it's one person changing, not evil vs. good.

Sorry, I could go on about it forever *blushes*

  • Those Mirrors are a really cool idea!

  • Not bad, i like the floor lol looks fun! Check out my version on my page :D It wasnt in a production it was in a talent competition but it's still acted etc.

  • You shouldn't have your back to the audience as in this number the audience need to Jekyll and Hyde's facial expression!

  • Aside from how you didn't really follow the Melody throughout the main of the peace, it was great!

I saw a production of this a while back. I love this place, this is my favorite song!

  • my high school is doing this play, they owe it to themselves to do it good, can't wait to audition.

  • Good work!

  • lol it looks so cool when he walks.

  • omg you were amazing. i love how at the beginning you make the clear distinction between the two, and slowly fade to where at the end the line gets blurred a little, illustrating jekyll's struggle with his sanity. i am about to audition for this part and i am going to study you, you were simply brilliant

  • this is amazing, i am doing this song for an audition and i am studying your movements because i think they are flawless!

  • FOR ONCE a no hair-flippy, non-budget, good acting, good singing version, though the song itself is different toward the beginning, but you have my congrats on a job well done

  • @misterstarwars1 It's not so different, it's the beginning used on the 2 disc 'Complete Work' album from J&H with Anthony Warlow.

  • @misterstarwars1 The hair flippy thing is so cool! Plus it really adds the affect of seeing the difference Jekyll and Hyde, and the desires they both have! But I will let you keep your opinion!

  • @misterstarwars1 it's based on the Gothic Thriller version of the show (the original original with Anthony Warlow/ Colm Wilkinson versions)

  • I thought you did a really good job. Confrontation is such a hard song to sing and you really did a fantastic job. I bet you were tired after being on the treadmill and singing/acting at the same time. I know I would be. :)

  • that was great

  • I thougt I was losing my mind when I saw the floor moving. It wasn't until the camera panned out and you stood still that I realized it was a treadmill-like thing. I think you did a terrific job with this song and all the ones I've seen so far.

  • Bravo!

  • I liked this staging. You did a wonderful job and I applaud your reasoning on the 2 styles of J&H. Great for sticking to your guns. You made a choice! I do like the turntable for that scene. It makes it look like he is walking the streets in his torment.. Glad you enjoyed doing it.

  • holy crap the freakin floors movin!!! good performance though. i only wish you'd snap back and forth more. at some points without the lights changing we couldn't have told which was which cuz you didn't clarify the movements.

  • I thought your choice to keep Jekyll calm added more to the song, it really showed the stark differences between the characters of Jekyll and Hyde...you did a really good job!

  • wow i hope i never have to play this role....i dont think i could pull it off as well as u

  • wow...this was fantastic you really did a marvelous job

  • You were amazing! I applaud your performance. That was...indescribablely astounding.

  • I love the acting, the singing, music and the lighting, but think the rotating stage is distracting and the mirror does nothing other than provide a metaphor that is within the song/acting you provide. A good production, but perhaps you did a little too much production wise?

  • Fantastic voice! though im not convinced by the blocking

  • This is way more than I expected from community theatre.

  • BTW, do you have the vid of you singing 'Alive'? That's my fave song, so, just curious if you could put it up...

  • DUDE! This is you? You're friggin' awsome!!! I like how you turn back and forwards, like face where you were standing, ya know? Good performance. And the rotating stage is bloody awsome! ~Amiko

  • Haha I'd like to see you preform as good as this =)

  • You were fabulous. And I do think that the rotating stage DID justice even in the video. But personally I have to disagree with you, I believe Anthony Warlow's version of confrontation is even better than Robert Cuccioli's.

  • This version is awesome

The mirror bit on this song

    I think that it's brilliant

R u on any of the proper soundtrack's of Jekyll & Hyde?

  • i liek the use of the mirror cuz that is what jekyll is facing when he is confronting hyde

  • You are Amazing

  • I must say I do LOVE your voice! The only things that I want to point out is that your Jekyll seems too calm. It's not just a split Jekyll and Hyde personality...Hyde is literally killing him fro m the inside and I think you need to show that struggle a little bit more in your Jekyll. He seems like he is talking about the weather. Hyde's voice was good and terrifying, although it broke my heart to see you take away "I live inside you forever" and make it not a belt.

  • Yeah, I pretty much agree. Especially on the "I'll live inside you." That's a very powerful line in this song, almost the climax.

But, you did do very well.

  • yay! I agree with you both... I rather like the way it was staged all together, but taking the belting away from that particular line of Hyde's (that has been mentioned so much before I won't bother to write it out) was a bummer.

All together though you did wonderful! :]

  • i totaly agree with you, this has to be one of the most moving songs in this musical!

    i love this soo much!

  • Better than ANY Broadway version, its not akward, I would actually believe that its two people, this is freakin awesome and Im usually a tough critic, haha

    GREAT!

  • I like it.

  • dude this would be a kickass audition song for shows!

  • my friend wendell did this song for his musical theater presentation thing in drama. it was awesome :] i love this song

  • I love that conveyer belt! Haha, very nice.

  • I love this song, and you did a great job! You should keep doing this stuff! Keep up the good work!

  • Vocals were great, fantastic even! Stage direction... not so much. I didn't care for the back turned to the audience for the beginning, even if you were using the mirrors. I also didn't really care for how stiff your portrayal of Jekyll came across. You've got some serious chops though

  • neat! But...I think you should of stayed at one spot. It kinda gets annoying to watch someone standing still but still going around and walking back again a hundred times. And also,I know that song and lyrics so I can understand it, but it might be hard for the audience to know when you are "hyde" or "Jekyll" because of your singing and movement.I think changing the singing voice and showing the transformation might help.

    But it was good.

  • the lights took care of the distinction between the too and he did change his movement and voice for the different personalities

  • Good articulation and diction

  • I performed there last night :]]]

It's such a cool feeling to be up there!

    Christinajo

  • The second "No" that Jekyll delivers at 2:43-ish is absolutely heart-wrenchingly vulnerable on his part. Beautiful.

  • i'm doing that same scene for my drama class. i can't find that soundtrack anywhere. where did you find it? do you think you could help me out?

By the way, i thought the performance was amazing...two thumbs up!

  • your 't's are over emphasized... just a word.. overall a decent performance though.

  • OH MY GOD you had one of those conveyor belt things!!!! That is amazing for a community theater. Wow, that adds a lot to it.

  • it was extremly good but i feel he should have shown more of a transformation from jekyl to hyde it was way to subtle.

  • I didn't enjoy the direction that much, but it is never the same a video that on stage(live I mean), but you Sir have an extraordinary voice!

  • Is that the same revolve from Les Miserables? I never did get a chance to see Javert 'jump' off the bridge from the stage, all I could do was raise the 'bridge.' Wish I could have been around for more shows, but I'm stuck in Texas now.

  • good voice and WAY better than hoff, but hes not that great looking to be honest. but still, he did a GREAT job on this. after seeing hoff and then him, its like seeing a miracle. and the moving stage was awsome. =0

  • This is the BEST song in ANY musical!!!! EVER!!!

  • He is singing it like the concept version, which omits the reprise in favor of this.

  • what happend to the lost in the Darkness reprise? isnt that supposed to be sung then it works into confrontation?

  • what in gods name is the point of the moving stage here it looks really bad when you have to keep moving through the whole time so that you don't get slammed into a wall. I actually don't like how this is preformed at all with the blocking but i like you voice it is pretty good.

  • Hm, it's pretty good, and that moving stage was a nice touch. =o

Thing is though..the song is called 'Confrontation', and it's Jekyll and Hyde fighting for dominance, so it wouldn't have hurt to have some aggression in some of the lines.

    Pretty good though.

  • As a music major in college, I just wanted to say that this was incredible. You did a great job with vocal technique and portraying the character. Bravo.

  • I disagree. He had the right intentions everywhere-- and I think that, yes, the difference between Jekyll and Hyde on a physical level needs to be subtle-- but there was a great melody here that he threw away for the sake of grit within Hyde. At the very least, though, this guy beat Hasselhoff's scenery chewing to death.

  • Thank you for being much better than David Hasselhoff. You actually changed your voice for each character, rather than using the same voice. ;)

  • awesome voice!

  • OMG, the Stage is movin' - very nice :)

  • amazing

  • Excellent use of the revolving stage. This is one of the more unique productions of this show that I've seen. And wonderful performance. I've seen this scene botched up -- whether because the switch isn't pronounced enough, or it's overpronounced. You balanced them really well.

  • you have a wonderful voice as jekyll. your hyde voice is pretty good too, but your acting as hyde is better than your jekyll acting. not bad at all.

  • Well done my good man...

  • I really enjoy the moving stage to replace the Broadway choreographing of this song. It made it so much better. Who ever you light opp is really sucks at hitting down beats though. The throbbing lights would be really cool if the person could actually get it on the down beat rather then missing every other one. other then my lighting critique (probably only something I would notice because I design and run the lights for my theaters performances) everything was very good.

  • really good perfomance - really like the physicallity you used for Hyde

  • by the way, love the maniacal moment you had with "they'll never be able to separate jekyll from hyde" - chilling ;).

  • however, since this part is so profoundly about the tension and dire battle of the opposites, i would love to see more fight between the two. i wasn't sure sometimes who was winning or that one was really "fighting back." if i had to criticize, i'd say raise the stakes. but seriously, well done sir. you should be proud.

  • really impressive work man. i think you utilized the stage well and made some clear choices about man's two natures. some people have commented on bland blocking, and i don't think that's necessarily true. what appears to be happening is that these two forces are happening simultaneously in him, one at a time rearing its head.

  • Very nice. The Broadway choreography for this song has always bothered me. It's such an amazing song but the blocking was just so bland. I like your interpretation, especially the moving floor bit. Very nice.

  • Very interesting rendition, well done.

  • That is honestly the most incredible rendition of this scene I have ever seen...

    Best choreography, best voice...

  • great voice, and great stage. but when hes jekyll he just stands there as the conveyor belt carries him...i dunno. just seems like there'd be more of a frantic desire to get away from hyde than just standing upright.

    great hyde character though.

  • wow. that must have been difficult, mastering two characters in one song!! BRAVO!!!

  • BRAVO!!!

  • I like that you haven't distorted your voice beyond recognition for Hyde but sing a new character with his own voice not just a rough Jekyll.

    5 out of 5.

  • That is so good

    That is so good

I want to hav a moving floor when i do this

  • Awsome. Just plain awesome. Not only do you have a great singing voice, a very advanced stage, and you nailed that song, but you actually did the original version of this song. I haven't heard that for a long time. Great job and please post more videos.

  • Amazing! The orchestra is excelent as well.

  • i loved uur voice, u did really good, could you put Dangerous Game or/and Sympathy Tenderness

  • oh yes my fav i played this role myself

and i know how hard it is to make the character change

    that was awesome

lol except i'm female as well lol

  • AMAZING. SO great to see the original version presented like this!~!

  • Bravo! I loved the lighting effects and the blocking!

I also loved your performance, it was very original.

    Once again, great job!

  • Wow. That was great. I love the fact that you use the original material in your show.

  • Fantastic

  • Very intriguing staging and performance! I always hated the boring Broadway version, at least here´s some movement in it. Interestingly, having him put the gun to his head before Hyde appears was EXACTLY how I would have done it...

    Kudos!

  • Completely original. This redefines everything Jekyll and Hyde is, was, and will be.

Nice to see there's a stage production that goes with the original concept recording, rather than the Broadway show, which KILLED the musical.

  • I actually got to see you and the show at the Clark Center. I am a native of Paso Robles. My mom and I came to see the show on June 23rd. I was so impressed!! YOU DID SPECTACULAR!!!!

P.S Will you post "Dangerous Game"?

  • Thank you so much. I'm glad you came to see us ; ). I will post DG soon. Thanks again.

  • It's hard to cover such a role as Jekyll and Hyde. I mean essentially you play two rolls and yet at the same time you play one. However you did a wonderful job of it. Great job!

  • that's great! thank you.

  • "Alive!!"?

  • I do have both. I will try and post soon.

  • Phenomenal. Thank you.
