I love Rakes of Mallow, and I think you played it well. I'm not a fiddler, but I know it takes a lot of skill, and you're really good. To me, at least.
awesome...I've been playing violin for 6 years now but I just started getting into this style of playing and love it.Its cool to see people like you playing.I have video camera but I can't put any footage into the computer sadly.
You can also increase volume by adding weight/pressure with the side of your forefinger on the stick. Accent the offbeat of cut-time tunes. Smaller bites of bow for weak notes, bigger bites for strong notes. Good job. Keep it up.
Great intonation for a beginner. I read criticism of the ornaments elsewhere, but I like them. Good, steady tempo. Loosen wrist. Watch great fiddlers, try to imitate their wrist motion. In tune and pretty clean, but all notes same volume. Jig bowing is long, short, short, long, short, short. To play the long-bowed notes in the same amount of time as the short ones, you have to pull the bow faster. Pulling faster increases volume and accents that note.
Great video!

I'm aware it's supposed to be faster... I'm just starting out with the fiddle, and I don't want to rush things!

Thats smart! Its easier to learn it right the first time then to undo an incorrect habit.
Awesome job man!
