  • I guess i'm still a newb because I thought this vid was great but didn't like that fact that it didn't show each step :/ lol

And i've had a sewing machine forever, but how is a serger different from a sewing machine? (I never had a serger).

  • @Shareallicu the difference between a serger and a sewing machine is a serger trimms the fabric and finishes the seam all in one step (the stitch is an overlock stitch which prevent the fabric from fraying and give more strength). sewing machine is more of a constructing machine, constructing garmets and crafts (as you may notice). It's not necessary to have a serger, you can just use a zigzag or overlock stitch to finish the seam or do a french seam.

  • @aka4512 Wow, sounds like it would be fun to try a serger :)

  • Willow by Julia hogan

  • redeeming love by francine rivers

  • I need to show my girlfriend this channel, she is real hand's on with stuffs like this also. :)

  • what can you use instead of tailor's chalk??? Right now I'm usin' my deoderant!! (at least it smells good!!!) lol

  • @veggiegirl96 White eyeliner!!! :)

  • @veggiegirl96 soap

  • @veggiegirl96 i use regular school chalk. i have some laying around so i use that also u can use pencil. just make sure you wash your garment before putting it on.

  • @veggiegirl96 Normal chalk will work, Usually white, Just so long as you can see it, a bucket full of kid chalk, will work fine! :D

  • @veggiegirl96 normal schoolboard chalk works too just dont just any bight colors on white fabrics, they might not was out.

  • @veggiegirl96 What a good idea!

  • @veggiegirl96 you can use slivers of soap like hand soap, it washes off too!

  • @veggiegirl96 i just use sidewalk chalk :) its pretty much the same.

  • @veggiegirl96 any chalk should work ok

  • @veggiegirl96 Get chalk for the collar store and a sharpener :3

  • @veggiegirl96 Have you seen the washable markers that are made by Crayola?? you can use those, right now because it is back to school you can get a pack for .99 cents. The great thing about them is that you will get a variety of colors.

  • @veggiegirl96 a pencil

  • @veggiegirl96 I use a white pencil on dark fabric and a normal pencil on lighter colored fabric

  • One of my favorite books in "Moonheart" by Charles deLint. A beautiful blend of magic crossing back and forth in the mundane world. It's also a love story (but not in a romance novel kind of way). I couldn't put it down the first time I read it.

  • could you plz make DIY heels

  • let me hit that

  • Hey ThreadBanger, thanks for the video--it's a great way to see how to make a pattern from an existing piece of clothing. What about those of us who either can't afford the first pair? Or can't find a pair in our size? How do we make a pattern without an existing pair of pants? The cost of pants from yoga studios is prohibitive, and they don't carry my size; big girls can be flexible and toned, too. :)

  • Looking For Alaska by John Green!

  • @Zeila68 I love all those books that you listed! Do you know any other good books?!

  • @ekc316 Sure! Maybe you could recommend some too? Besides other books by those authors, try:

Tamora Pierce's cirlce of magic series(es). for younger kids, less advanced, but i can still reread them once and a while and enjoy them.

    Inkheart (Cornelia Funke)

My Sisters Keeper (a bit harrowing though)

Something, Maybe (realistic fiction, Elizabeth Scott)

    City of Bones

See the next comment, i ran out of words...

  • @ekc316

    Okay, continuing:

Pride and Prejudice (bit more advanced)

The Uglies series and also Peeps (these are both by Scott Westerfield, different series that are really good)

The Gemma Doyle series (first book = A Great And Terrible Beauty). It was great when i read it.

Good Omens (Terry Pratchet and Neil Gaiman)

Good Omens is hilarious. But now i have nothing to read. Suggestions?

  • @Zeila68 Thank you :D

Here are some books I think really, really like:

    Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater,

Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomerey,

The Last Dragonlord by Joanne Bertin,

The Enchanted Forest Chronicles by Patricia C. Wrede,

and the Strange Angel series by Lili St. Crow.

All these authors have published other good books, too.

*not sure if I spelled everything correctly.

  • If you like sci-fi and fantasy like Harry Potter books. I recommend you read the "Mercy Thompson" series written by Patricia Briggs, and also the "Cast In" series written by Michelle Sagara. Both of these series have really strong female leads, great character development and wonderful plots/settings.

  • Corrine, you were saying to lay it out so the stretch is horizontal, but I didn't know what you meant, horizontal to the ground if you're wearing them, or horizontal to the table where you laid them out. This looks like a good one to try but I just couldn't tell how to lay out the fabric. The instructions for laying it out and putting it together go by pretty quick. Thanks for the inspiration though.

  • A great book to check out is The story of Edgar Sawtell by David Wroblewski.

  • You should read a Series called The Last Apprentice. The First one is called Return of the witch. They have a very interesting storyline and once you pick it up you get hooked! I'm currently on book three. :)

  • Cute butt, Corinne! :)

  • You look AWESOME!!!!! Keep it up!

  • POTTER books FTW!

  • Congrats on the weight loss! I'm down 45 lbs, myself!

  • That is SO bizarre my posts are repeating and repeating and so are the post of others. I cannot find AmaboTe's post but thank you for replying!!!

  • "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" by Stephen Chbosky = classic . "A Spot of Bother" by Mark Haddon = hilarious, so great.

  • I'd like to suggest a series, actually. It's called "The Song of Ice and Fire" by George R.R. Martin. So far three books have been published, and the fourth is due this year. I've read and re-read them all. The series begins with "Game of Thrones." I think it's well written, with incredibly real, deep characters.

  • if you liked harry potter. you'll probably like the golden compass & anything Neil Gaiman.

  • @norabrice im totally up for neil gaiman's the graveyard which might become a movie + the uglies series is a good read it's in scholatics (i should kno im still in school) ^_^

  • @norabrice have u read the grave yard book its by neil gaiman its realy good

  • @kittycatkitt02 No. I haven't read The Graveyard yet. I'll have to look into it now. :} Thank you.

  • GO HARRY POTTER! (tomarrow is the begining of a four day harry potter weekend ond abc family!!! )

  • Corinne i just wanted to say you look WONDERFUL! you look great really. pretty as ever. i think a good book to read would be Gone and Hunger by Michael Grant. Both wer so good! i read Gone in 3 days (despite how thick it was)and Hunger in a week. So yeah! I love u guys. keep on doin what you do bc what u do is one of the best things anyone can do! LONG LIVE DIY! Snip. Snip. Snip

  • this is awesome! I've been looking for some new yoga pants, now I can just make my own!

  • yay for reading Harry Potter :)

  • If you can't find pattern paper try freezer paper it's really sturdy.

Book recom. Left Behind by La Haye and Jenkins.

  • Where can I get Pattern Paper?

  • @hipretty

I live near a college, and the store there sells paper for making bulletin boards. I've used that, since it's wide and runs about 30cents per yard. I've also used craft paper that I bought from walmart, when I want the pattern to be really durable.

  • where can I get pattern Paper?

  • If you like fantasy, I recommend anything by Piers Anthony. His land of Xanth books are addictive and a little cheesy/corny., which I love and his Incarnations of Immortality series is also really good. Happy reading!

BTW, if Corinne had a baby she would not have the time to read, sew, look hot, and do a weekly show. And have a personal life and keep her house clean. Just saying.

  • corinne you are such a cutie patootie.

  • read "the child thief" by Brom. it's like a remake of peter pan, Very awesome, & a little bit scary

  • The Book Thief. SO WELL WRITTEN!

Also, congratulations! You do look amazing, but you always have!

  • one of my new year's resolutions was/is to read one book a week from the NYT book review. I read one recently that was actually quite good; it's titled "Marry Him: the case for settling for Mr. good enough" :)

  • Where is Rob?

  • one other thought-- Dried fruit is a good alternative to candy but it should be thought of the same way. It is healthier than a snicker bar, but generally the same thing. Snacks that take a bit longer for your body to break down (Veg or other complex carbs like nuts) are a better idea...

  • C- some good books... Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking Glass. The Lovely Bones was good. I also LOVED the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. Also on my to read list are" The Chronicles of Naria Books, The Lord of the Rings, (i'm on a bit of a fantasy thing)... If you're looking for some non-fiction, look for Subversive Stitching. It's out of print but not super hard to find.

  • OMG at 0:33, the way she says "stretchy pants" sounds like nacho libre! XD

  • you're reading harry potter. i love you. thought you should know

  • Awesome tutorial, Corinne!

I love the books of the Liveship Traders, by Robin Hobb. Very fantasy. ;)

And if you can't choose between fantasy and humor, go for both of them and read something of writer Terry Pratchett!
