Anyone else notice in these myriad ultralight videos on YouTube how often the craft first transitions rough terrain in rumbling to takeoff position? My concern is for stress loading on the airframe and fasteners. It's one thing to have a jarring touchdown where the craft could be inspected to a fare-thee-well for any damage but to jostle about before joining the hawks in-flight is another matter. Everyone please be safe.
the sunny was well for rough terrain due to sandow suspesion and flexible steel connections. on the other hand, you are right: as one can see who has a load indicator in his craft, the loads on ground are sharp and hard and more stressing than those in the air. transport is another critical point. never fix your craft in or at a trailer at critical points. i saw crafts fixed in a trailer at the elevator hinges....
Busbumde I love this aircraft of yours its fantastic, I only found out about it after I had done a whole lot of experiments of my own, but came to the same conclusion, please have a look at my channel
That steep climb looks as though it was helped by some ground affect from the low run shortly after lifting into the air. Nice aircraft and looks like great fun.
Very cool design. I cannot believe his initial climb rate!! I build and fly RC planes and would love to incorporate a boxwing design in a future slofly project. My hats off to you for your innovation!
Because of the dual wing structure, lift is more pronounced.
Its a very good design which Im sure a lot of people will copy.
I wonder if it will work with a vw engine, problem might be with installing vw as a pusher, not sure how much vibration and balance issues that may arise.
ANyway, Im a few months away from starting the project which will be in Africa.
Hope I survive and upload it.
Never flown before so looking for a low cost lesson somewhere in England
Its brilliant you cannot do this in a conventional - unless you have a death wish - the front wing stalls first and automatically lowers the nose before you drop a wing - making it automatically idiot proof - or in plain English - SAFE - these are the future in low and slow, tree dodging airborn go carts : ) once you have done this (3D) the best sports cars (2D) are boring
We have built about 150 in Germany. It is now produced by our plans also in Germany. One cannot give the adress here - strange. Try exalead-serch-machine and look for sunny-boxwing.
no, better efficiency than a biplane, more safe in stall, you will see those crafts in the future, looking not just this ultralight, but using the same "box"
whoa watch out for those power line . : D thats looks like fun to me :)

From a strictly lay person's perspective, it looks like the powered parachute might be the safest of the ultralights. Is this close to being right?

The tri-wing plane of this variant should be called the Box-Fokker. LOL !

How about a tri-wing box design I bet that would be the best airplane in history

Nice lift on that! Angle of attack on liftoff was steep.

I heard this airplane is the easiest and safest to fly, is this true?

Very smooth stall, just mush down, no spin

Why a "boxed" wing is it just for cool factor? It does look a bit unique.
