  • Great! Hope you keep it up and don't let the ignorant fools get in your way.

  • Corey!!! sound great bro! i hope things are going good for you

  • Haha yes!

  • MY BOY GOT SKILLS & A GREAT PITCH TOO !!!

  • dang your a good whistler

  • Corey is one of the baddest young trombonists in the world. He happens to be Wycliffe Gordon's son but all his ability as an improvisor and instrumentalist is due to his hard work and deep love for the jazz tradition. You all are gonna be hearing a lot from Corey Wilcox in the future!!!!!

  • Crazy, man!

  • The Marsalis family is a BIG part of my jazz awakening, especially the Art Blakey experience, and the appearances on Mr.Rogers; Great Whistling!

  • do you play a instrument? you got big ears man, great job.

  • Nice. Good chops.

  • cool way to jam in a small car

  • That was brilliant !!!!!!!!!!

  • Man I just had to say. There's still some killing musicians out there who could possible cut wynton and other popular jazz artists out there as well that we don't Know yet. You'll never know who you'll be up against.

  • AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • that´s way to far, brother, max respect! I really hope we hear more from you.

  • what´s he doing in real life - bird speech translator?

  • @EVERYONE

Man! Stop wasting everyone's time by saying something about how you could do it too if you listened to it over and over, or it's not that hard or whatever... Neat for you!!

Got some punk wanna-be jazz players gettin' all huffy......

Especially if you "are" a drummer... shhhh..........

  • @nantwon

    PS

if you really are good, you prolly aren't wasting your time telling dudes on youtube how good you really are

  • Pretty impressive. This cat has great ears. too bad he wasted all this energy learning a Winston Marsala solo while he could have done something more productive. Bird, Don Byas, Bud Powell, and Cifford Brown would be a good place to start. Good luck, kid.

  • @zappacrappa2 (and all the other haters) Get a life or something! Wynton Marsalis (and his whole family, for that matter) deserve to rightfully go down in history as some of the best musicians who ever walked the face of the Earth. His talent notwithstanding, the dedication he has for the continuation of great classic music is unmatched. Marsalis haters need to hit up a practice room and cut out the trash talk for something they wish they could do. Marsala? Sounds like you the "whiner" (get it?)

  • @nantwon Sounds like I touched a nerve . I'll leave out the sarcasm and try to respond in a critical manner. First, I have I have a very fulfilling life, thank you. Secondly, I am entitled to my opinion. Your claim regarding the Marsalis family is a bit over over the top. While Wynton and Branford (the other two are not in the same league) are extremely talented, they don't come close to the tru jazz legends such as Louis Armstrong and Coleman Hawkins, and they'll freely admit it.

  • @zappacrappa2 are you dumb? Wynton and branford are great, but what do you mean their not in the same league...whens the last time you hear jason marsalis and delfeayo. your narrow mined when it comes to jazz. I doesnt matter how much facetime on the news you get in jazz. There's probably some cat in the middle of Tennessee in his cabin just killin and could keep up with wynton. But honestly...not in the same league? your an idiot...about that

  • @nantwon As for Wyntons dedication, there are many others who are dedicated to the cause, and who are BETTER at doing it, but don't have the political power/PR to back them up. I am not a hater, but people need to know that there ARE other options, and that All that glitters is NOT necessarily gold. Like I said, if one really wishes to learn this music, they need to study the real masters who were here before Wynton. No 'whining' here (I get you clever pun).

  • @zappacrappa2 (et al.) If you continue to keep thinking Jazz is some kind of contest, you will always lose... options? I listen to good music; as much of it as possible. Are you suggesting NOT listening to Wynton? I know what you're saying... TRYING to say, but unfortunately it is sounding like you'll never know what I'm saying because you don't have the capacity for it (not saying you're dumb!).. you just don't "get" it, and I duno if you ever will.. Don't worry, you aren't alone.

    Hawkins rules

  • @nantwon OK, it's settled. I just don't "get it" :)

  • @zappacrappa2 Yo I can't believe you even have the nerve to say that someone wasted their time on a Wynton Solo. Honestly your opinion doesn't even matter or have any validity for that matter because you are not a Jazz musician unlike some of us. If you actually and truly understood Jazz, you would have never even said anything so ignorant. I don't think that you know the talent that the Marsalis family posses. You don't even know what Wynton or any other Jazz musician is doing.

  • @zappacrappa2 You are just a listener. You have know background knowledge or real understanding of this music. Yes Bird, Hawkins, Rollins, Brown, Armstrong, etc.. Are all Jazz legend that have influenced music and all Jazz musicians lives and Wynton is definitely included in that category. I don't think you get the shear talent it takes to play this music. Not anyone can do this. This is not classical music where you can just put a piece in front of someone and have someone play it.

  • @zappacrappa2 This takes soul, art, passion, and love. Jazz is a real art form that has really been undermined. I can't believe the shear ignorance that you behold. Please as one of my counterparts have said, get a life and get off youtube because you are truly making everybody dumber for have reading your incoherent comments. Wynton Marsalis as well as the Marsalis family for that matter will always be considered legends and true idols in Jazz music for all eternity.

  • @zappacrappa2 nicholaspayton.wordpress com/2011/11/27/on-why-jazz-isnt-cool-anymore/

"A glaring example of what’s wrong with Jazz is how people fight over it." - Nicholas Payton

  • @zappacrappa2 I mostly agree. There are for sure people just as dedicated to the cause but don't have the exposure that he has. I also agree that if you want to learn this music you HAVE to study the original masters to truly "get it". Far too much historical importance. Wynton will be the first to tell you that. But, he is a master of his craft and instrument. He's dedicated his life to it. If anyone reading this ever gets the chance, talk to him. His passion will truly inspire you.

  • @scrmtrumpet I appreciate your intelligent reply, and yes, Wynton is a TRUE master of his instrument and his craft. I should have refrained from being sarcastic, but it sucks to see talented young men ignoring the tradition that Mr. Marsalis clearly respects.

  • @zappacrappa2 shut up. your ignorance is killing youtube, scrub.

  • cool man... you got the goods dude!

  • Awesome!

  • great realy wow

  • awesome. dude's got talent.

  • @pmood1 yo, all you need to do is listen to one song over and over. I'm a drummer and i can whistle trumpet and sax solos as well. you just need to listen over and over. hope this answers your question.

  • @join105 i'm a sax player. the notes aren't hard to learn, especially since they're preserved forever in recording and you can learn them at any rate you want. but shit, i can't whistle like that. it's hard
