I saw this tour. I imagine this must be what it felt like to see Pink Floyd back in the Syd Barrett days. Guitarists out there: Please post how to play songs from "A Storm in Heaven." I've figured out most of "Sail Away" and "The Sun, The Sea." Sometimes there are so many effects, I can't figure out every part.
I'm planning on uploading some Nick McCabe guitar sound videos in the coming weeks, I've figured out how to play Already There, Slide Away and Beautiful Mind - all with the right effects.
Having the same reverb unit Nick used during A Storm in Heaven kicks ass :D
Such a dope drugged out hazey version of a classic studio song. I wish they would have continued down this path musically. They would have been bigger than Radiohead
i love everything about the verve and sir richard but it always surprises me how awkward and timid he could look back in the day, compared to the cocksure geezer he is now! amazing either way.
Not really. Go to the Empty Bottle. I was at this show. The Metro's heyday is gone. Sad because it was once a great place to see bands and know they get shit. It all started to change when they took all the table and chairs out and tried to pack as many people in as possible.
anyone know, were they opening for MazzyStar(I know this sounds goofy, but they were both very young bands then) I was very likely at this show, used to go to all kinds of shows then This sounds really good by the way, much better than other live stuff on this site, in terms of the sound quality JBTV-the logo is in the left corner at the end of this clip-they used to play all the new indie and wtevr rock that would come through Chicago and nterview the bands for a small tv station here
They didnt open for Mazzy Star. I saw MAzzy Star around this time and they played at Empty Bottle. This was a $7 show (yes $7) that was sponsored by a radio station. JBTV people were there filming. Id love to get an actual copy of this somewhere but I cant seem to find it anywhere.
Mazzy played the Metro also-I remember cuz I got free tix from (probably) WNUR, maybe WCBR!, and someone opened for them, but when Mazzy came on my friend didn't like it so he left! The dick
Right on! I am moving to Chicago in 2 weeks. I hope the Verve tour there this year in support of the new album. "Hello high are you? YES...well that explains it."
beautiful start

" I thought my best days had left me , my best years had left me behind"
I wonder if Ashcroft thinks of that line when he's playing with United Nations of Sound.

This is amazing so much pain and ambition in Richard we will never see this side of him again you can't be taught this he was living these emotions.
