ah man this is wonderful the Republicans/Libertarians are going to cannibalize each other out of a conservative district that has never been held by the modern democratic party.
It's an interesting tactical question. Is it better to elect a congressional back benching republican who is progressive and won't have the seniority to do anything more impressive than caucus with the GOP. Or is it better to elect a congressional back benching democrat who's conservative and won't have the seniority to do anything more impressive than caucus with the DNC.
Of course its better to elect the Democrat because the Democrat is more conservative in that race, and as we all know, at Fox News all of the on-air talent are not only conservatives, the channel also promotes the ideology so the conservative should win. Just one more clip to add to the list of how "fair and balanced" Fox News is.
Let's see, the (R) candidate is pretty much a social liberal/fiscal conservative, the social liberal part is very important to the GOP base. The lady is not just a moderate, she is a pro-choice, pro-same sex marriage GOPer. I like her !!!(that should be enough of a bad sign for conservatives). You can't blame them for not supporting her. Basically if she wins the liberal agenda scores points on social issues. This is different from calling Specter,Snowe and Collins RINOs, this makes sense.
I'm not a conservative but if I were, I would be pissed that Fox appears to be supporting the "moderate Republican" and trying to marginalize the "true conservative." Perhaps Fox is less supportive of the ideology than they are of the (R)?
If so, maybe their are ways progressives can drive the wedge deeper into their coalition?
If--eventually, down the road--"conservatives" got fed up with Fox for being too Party-identified, that could be monumental.
1. Fox is run by Roger Ailes, a former Republican campaign manager.
2. In the 2008 GOP primaries they sided with Giulianni because they thought he had the best chance of winning, and sent Hannity out to introduce him at events.
3. Fox excluded Ron Paul from their televised debates because they thought he might win the nomination but not the election.
Witness Paul's followers chasing Hannity down the street like a cornered rat afterwards:
Since you brought them up: do you see the Ron Paul / libertarian faction overlapping with the Palinite "conservatives" much?
I've always thought they were very different. Paulites are often quite knowledgeable and reasonable people compared to Palinites who appear to be bottom-of-the-barrel know-nothings, religious fanatics, and fascists.
If you Ron Paul fans want to take over the Repub Party then you are going to have to go through the Palintards somehow.
No, you're right, they're very different. The only common interest is opposition to govt. regulation of commerce. But Paulian libertarians are social liberals, while Palin Populists want to make all sorts of laws about what you can and can't do in your personal life. Up until now the libertarians have been holding their noses because they (apparently) loved monetary liberty more than personal liberty. I don't know if that can continue while the religious populists are turning up the heat.
"If you Ron Paul fans want to take over the Repub Party then you are going to have to go through the Palintards somehow. "
Good luck getting them to try. If they were interested in working through one of the big two parties to achieve their goals, they wouldn't be voting Libertarian.
Doug Hoffman needs Sarah Palin's GOD JUICE going into his PUSSY in order to win this congressional race for Palin has the POWER of GOD HERSELF to take over this country and help her people the true blooded christian palinist conservatives win their elections!

All they need is for Michael Moore to run another FICUS plant, and they'll have the complete set.
(And I'm pretty sure the damned Ficus plant would WIN again!)
