  • i want to be able to sing like Hayley Williams but her songs at the moment are out of my range. should i just choose a different idol or keep pursuing my goal - coz it feels like my range is just alto but hers is soprano

  • THIS DUDE IS DEEP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • see now i have a different problem, i can mix up to a C5/D5 but, in my full chest voice i can only get to an E4/F4, so when i go for a G4 or higher, theres a jump from my full chest to my mix. And I believe my mix is correct i can switch from headvoice to a mix and viceversa. But I can't fully connect my chest voice to my mix, I don't know if that is because I still have trouble connecting my chest voice to my headvoice or what. Help?

  • I always lose my breath. That's the part that sucks.

  • great approach on vocal training

  • kinda the same as me. I wanted to give up singing when I was 11 cos I was a horrible singer. but as I got older my singing began 2 sound alot better then I was when I was younger. so then I never gave up singing =D

  • So without pushing, how do we get our voices higher? When I exercise my voice I go from low to high, and when I get to a note that I can't sing and I try and push it out what do I do? How do I get my voice to sing higher without pushing when exercising?

  • I understand to let your voice flow, not to force it out, but what is forcing it out?

I'm confused whether what I am doing is forcing it out.

  • @98nfsmw98 When you try to sing too loudly or too high etc and your vocal cords are strained. You usually feel them tighten or after a while of straining them you try to sing and you cant or get hoarse etc.. Any time you're singing and you feel pain or hoarseness during or after singing (unless you have a cold) it is as a result of forcing your voice.

  • lol i love his video lol so funny

  • do you know how a person can reach the high notes??? pls. give me some advice,,

  • @bawalpasawayako Hey there! I have a video called "Vocal Range" that would be the perfect answer to your question. Check it out and let me know how it works out. =)

  • love ya too man!ur awesome!

  • Hey ~ Thnx so much! =)

  • You know, when I was younger, I used to say (whenever I messed up or whenever I couldn't hit a note that I wanted to hit) that I didn't like my voice (more or less) and I would be so mad at my voice. As I got older and became more mature, I learned to appreciate my voice for what it could do and when I make a mistake or if I crack, I just laugh at myself (truth be told, I probably had no business being up there in the first place).

  • I just wanted to thank Erik for these videos, it means alot that he is taking the time to make these videos for people like us.

  • Thanks again! :D

  • Thanks for this vid cuz. I've stopped singing so much because I stopped liking my voice. Recently, I've been getting back into it. But it's taken me until now to accept the limitations of my voice and to realize that I'm not singing for recognition, but for my own enjoyment. It's helped me to improve my singing. I've still got a ways to go though.

  • Thanks for that helpful tip. I had an epiphany. In order to become a better vocalist, I need to actually invest time into my voice so that it can grow. I vow to sing "truthfully" and know my limits. But I also have a question my range is a C2-E5, is that good enough to become a musical artist? I think that's my range, some of those notes are falsetto notes when I get to the top. And I hit the low notes but they lack volume. Thanks.

  • PRECIOUS IS MY FAVORITE MOVIE!!!!

    Thanks for the tip.

  • real real real talk. really good point about how sometimes the voice gets pushed to "uncharted territory" and gets hated for sounding bad. very good insight. really helpful.

  • There's just not enough space in these comment boxes, haha. Okay, this is my last one;) So.. basically, I'm just hoping maybe you could make a video that talks really in-depth about how you should feel when taking in a breath before singing a note. How posture should be.. how tense stomach area should be.. just how you feel.. and how to know what you may be doing wrong and why the breath support isn't coming. It'd really be of help to me:) Thanks for everything you do, I love your videos<3

  • If I could make a request.. I'd be interested in hearing some more in-depth tips from you about how to breath when singing. Like you've said..and as I've quickly come to realise, breath support is the basis. I often feel my abdomen tensing up so much when I try to fill my diaphragm up, and quickly feel light headed from what must be taking in too much air? I just can't seem to get out a steady note because the breath is not supporting it correctly.. it sounds very shaky and weak.

  • These were just the words of encouragement I've been needing to hear lately about my voice. I've always had a quiet speaking voice, so it's been somewhat discouraging trying to sing.. physically feeling that I just do not have the correct breath support to hold a single note steadily, and any sort of run of notes seems out of the question until I can strengthen my breath support. Thank you for reminding me that developing my voice has a lot to do with physical strengthening just like exercise:)

  • thank you, i was having this problem too, very helpful and very uplifting, again thank you :)
