  • What we see here is part of a performance made for tourism. Tondero is a tradicional dance from north of Peru, danced just by a couple of different sex hanging each other a handkerchief. The movements are free and sensual, never embraced. Tondero is danced in all kind of parties by one couple each time, while people surround the dancers laughing and singing and clapping or shouting funny comments or giving hoorras for her or for him. it is interactive. Here, ladies are dressed in unsual red.

  • I think the only confusion here is that some people commenting are "purists" and when they say this is not Tondero, what they are trying to say is that the way it is being danced here is not 100% to their definition of how Tondero should be danced. But even so, the song is a Tondero and the dancers are simply interpreting the Tondero, perhaps very stylistic and a bit more "internationalized" that you would find in norther Peru lol.

  • FEO! jaja demasiado parados, las chicas parece que estuvieran bailando marinera y no tondero

  • I believe this is dance group called "Jallmay" and they perform hundreds of Peruvian dances and you guys have to think that they are trying to show the variety of dances internationally. They have their own couple who actually dance the "real" tondero.. This one specifically is a choreography show, i guess that's why it look more stylish. and YES you have to be in Piura to watch a REAL tondero. But this is a great show anyways.

  • sorry, the name of the group is "asi es mi peru"

  • Nice choreography, but hardly you can call this "tondero".

  • Beautiful!... i used to dance this music in Peru.. now that i live in pennsylvania.. i have to learn how to disco dance ... i have master the chicken dance so far... I LOVE PERU!!!

  • A grief but not dancing tondero. They have wanted to do a choreography and they have given up her the dance's escencia.

  • Interesting opinion. The announcer clearly call's it the Tondero in the video, and they are dressed in Northern Peru farming garb. After reading your comment, I looked up "Tondero" on wikipedia and could not see where this is not exactly what is listed.

  • this is a more international version but it's still tondero.. it has everything just in a very interesting and creative presentation
