I wish you would have been around when this guy called my Macintosh a paper weight.
I didn't know what to say to him, and I didn't feel like talking to him after that anyway.
I worked for Microsoft's Help Desk for a short time, and the guy I'm referring to has one of those MSCP cards. He was part of the technical team. All I did was answer phones and direct the call to the right technician.
I went back to doing paramedic work, which is easier than working at the Internet help desk. : )
If you don't need it, then you don't need it. Some programmers like to use these. Others find them handy for processing data and such. Not everyone needs everything on their Mac.
these are all the old text editors we use in unix shells, it even says "bash" on the terminal window. emacs was really great for coding due to the split screen. these are editors 99.9999% of the modern computer user will never use or have no use for. but i was surprised to know they were there.

Mine is white.

Go to the Terminal preferences to select one of many themes.

Search for "terminal malloc_jumpstart emacs" with Google for some solutions. I'd put links here but YouTube doesn't allow them.

on emacs, press ESC, then X. Then type in tetris/snake to play tetris or snake. It also saves your score!
