Wow, you need to do some research son and learn a few things. I'm not justifying the officer's methods. If the suspect failed to comply with my verbal commands, I would have put him on the ground, then cuffed him and took him to jail. Failure to obey a Police Officer's commands is justification for force. The Supreme Court agrees with these measures. I know it's difficult, junior, but you're wrong and I would do some reading before blindly posting.

We haven't seen everything in this. If a person fails to follow the police's verbal commands, the officer can go hands on. It's not a requirement for all officers to carry pepper spray or tasers, let's give the police the money and make it a requirement to carry the equipment. Did the officer use the correct level of force? Without seeing the events that led to this, objectively we have to say no. I have 20 years in various roles of security and protective services, I've never used the punch

This video and this legal case lose all credibility to me when the best evidence is placed here with the cat videos and pornography. it doesnt matter what happened before the video...the man wasnt fighting the officer and the officer didnt need to strike him in the face to subdue him. we see this kind of thing all the time in arkansas and the cops always try to turn it around...in THIS case, the man was NOT violently resisting and the officer had options to control the situation that did not include the illegal battering of this man.

@detersbb An "off duty" policeman in uniform has every arrest power granted to him/her by the state. eg. You get robbed and the robber runs in front of an " off duty" policeman. Do you want the policeman to arrest him and get your stuff back or call for an "on duty" officer who will probably take a few minutes to get there and make a report of the stuff you will never see again.

Why does an off duty cop feel that he has arrest powers? When a cop is off duty he does not have any powers vested to him/her by the city/county/state.

Why does a security guard (off duty cop) feel that he can arrest an individual outside the established on public property? The security guard may arrest on club/bar property-but off property & off duty he is just a regular joe.

The video shows the cop holding the man with one hand while he batters him with the other. That's police brutality. It's outrageous.
