Wow, you need to do some research son and learn a few things. I'm not justifying the officer's methods. If the suspect failed to comply with my verbal commands, I would have put him on the ground, then cuffed him and took him to jail. Failure to obey a Police Officer's commands is justification for force. The Supreme Court agrees with these measures. I know it's difficult, junior, but you're wrong and I would do some reading before blindly posting.
We haven't seen everything in this. If a person fails to follow the police's verbal commands, the officer can go hands on. It's not a requirement for all officers to carry pepper spray or tasers, let's give the police the money and make it a requirement to carry the equipment. Did the officer use the correct level of force? Without seeing the events that led to this, objectively we have to say no. I have 20 years in various roles of security and protective services, I've never used the punch
^^Old docfields here sounds like another corrupt, out of control ex-cop trying to justify police brutality!
Yeah right. The guy is just standing there, obviously not hitting the cop, wrestling with him, etc. But "maybe" the cop beating the crap out of him by repeatedly punching him in the face while he doesn nothing but try and block the blows is justified huh?
Maybe the cop shouldve shot him for trying to block his punches... Would you justify that too?
yes flowbie you are an ass, the guy was definately not doing anythig that warranted being punched in the face, or the friggin asswipe cop would have taken action earlier... its all on camera flowbie... how bout someone punch your face awhile and see if you change your mind... and yes you are a cop... other words basically a useless piece of crap..
I am relieved a lot of people are waking up, it's sad that we had to to wait until this occupy movement to get every ones attention. But we've got some fuckers still asleep that think the polices actions are justified, which is where we need to turn our attention to proving them wrong.
@jjohnsice I'm an ass? Obviously you have to be an ass to get thrown out of Ferneau, right? That's what happened to this guy. He got punched in the face a couple times, so what? I'll bet he won't act like an ass ever again in a public place.
So in other words, cops should be allowed to brutalize people who simply try to crash a party? They shouldnt just arrest the guy, no, they should beat the living hell out of them for no good reason!
Hey. If you watch the first 10 seconds you see the cop talking on his mic. The he drops it to grab the guy by the back of his head to tell the guy im fixing to start knocking the shit out of your face in 3-2-1 bam. The people who are coming to the policeman's defense because the mic was hanging need to pay a little better attention to the video before speculating. Im not saying the cop was definitely wrong here because I don't know what happened before this. From watching the video only this wa
Why did the cop appear to be winded (guy too) at the beginning of the video including his uniform messed up? I don't think it's common for cops to walk down the street with their radio mike trailing on the sidewalk. What made the car alarm go off?
To bad these videos never include everything. Just enough for quick, unknowing judgements.
This video and this legal case lose all credibility to me when the best evidence is placed here with the cat videos and pornography. Obviously, Keith Hall doesn't have a case, so he's trying to incite public outrage. It's sad to me how readily Americans will believe what the media shows them without analyzing context and biases. Let's learn all sides of the story before we jblindly ump to the exact conclusions which Mr. hall wants us to.
@ozellethebelle No, getting it out in the public is what you have to do. Because, otherwise, cops protect their own. If you don't put it out in public, it WILL be covered up. We have a cop at my forum trying to defend the guy right now. And his arguments boil down to "You're not a cop, so you'll never understand." Yeah--he somehow thinks that being a cop entitles him to brutality.
When you think like that, you deserve to have your dirty laundry pushed to the public.
@ozellethebelle you my friend are an idiot, the video speaks for itself, ahd there been more to this than whats on camera, this would have taken place then...period.
Okay, then I will come walk up to you and punch you 7 times in the face, and you won't file assault charges, right? I mean, it's not like I picked you up and through you on the ground, so it's not brutality, right?
Or imagine if copped a feel of your daughter's boobs. it isn't rape, so it's fine, right?
Guess what? Something can still be brutality even if there is worse stuff out there.
it doesnt matter what happened before the video...the man wasnt fighting the officer and the officer didnt need to strike him in the face to subdue him. we see this kind of thing all the time in arkansas and the cops always try to turn it around...in THIS case, the man was NOT violently resisting and the officer had options to control the situation that did not include the illegal battering of this man.
@tallguy8412 Fine. I'll be sure to punch you 7 times in the face as well. I mean, you deserve it, since you said something right here that I don't like.
i thought thats why they carried stun guns and pepper spray regardless of what happened to provoke the officer nothing warrants what i just watched believe i wouldve risked an assault charge for fighting back though
you don't know what happened before the events depicted on the video. the lawyer of Chris Erwin posted this video and almost every video on youtube of this event. obviously he doesn't want to show the whole situation because it would hurt his payout. Keith Hall is his LAWYER!! this is not an unbiased account of the event, just remember that before you jump to conclusions, small minds.
Dear YouTube viewers, your misinformed and biased opinions do not dictate law enforcement agencies' policies. If the Lt. in this video is following his department's use of force guidelines, it doesn't matter in the slightest what the rest of the world thinks about his actions.
@detersbb An "off duty" policeman in uniform has every arrest power granted to him/her by the state. eg. You get robbed and the robber runs in front of an " off duty" policeman. Do you want the policeman to arrest him and get your stuff back or call for an "on duty" officer who will probably take a few minutes to get there and make a report of the stuff you will never see again.
i love how everyone on here knows exactly how to handle every situation. and that everyone knows the whole situation, even the stuff that happened before the camera was rolling. unless u were there and know the WHOLE story, STFU. obviously something happened to make the woman roll the camera in the first place and physical contact already happened because the mic was already hanging off the officers uniform. to me that looks like the guy was already resisting the officer.

I don't blame Donnie for this, but he has to step up and say this "officer" was in the wrong and that he doesn't condone this type of brutality.
This is why you carry a concealed weapon and defend yourself with deadly force....or at the very least protect citizens. (don't get caught on tape...)
On local newscasts, Lt. Terry Hastings said what we saw in the video may not be accurate and that the officer may have been justified--i.e., we didn't see what we saw. Oh, really?!! The video shows the cop holding the man with one hand while he batters him with the other. That's police brutality. It's outrageous. Crooked courts make for bad cops, and sadly, that has been the situation here in AR for a very long time.
@14wordsCI you are completly correct it has been going on in arkansas for decades. I have a few friends who have been very badly beaten here in this state and I my self had two ribbs broken by a police flashlite when I didn,t stop fast enough when a police cruser passed me by going in the other direction with his lights flashing
@14wordsCI do you know what happened before the video was shot? thats a no. so u have no idea why he was being treated that way. if u look at it, u can see the officers mic was hanging off his uniform, meaning some sort of contact was made before the video was shot. u have no idea what happened so STFU.
@mdiggymac STFU yourself. Here's a comment from Max Brantley, a flaming liberal who happens to be right: "At what point was the guy still resisting and a threat to the lieutenant? After the first punch in face? Second? Third? Fourth? Fifth? Sixth? Seventh? Again: whatever was said or done before the video began does not constitute a free pass to brutality. "--see ArkTimes site for the rest of Max's comment.
How did Elvis get there? This is disturbing. I didn't see the victim being a threat to the police officer or others. He didn't deserve the brutality. This looked like a high school brawl rather than a civil arrest. Aren't the police called to serve and protect? Looks like some people may need protection from the police. A picture is worth 1000 words and this video says it all. The officer took advantage of someone he felt couldn't resist.
fvck the police, when are people going to start DEMANDING THESE CORRUPT PIGS BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE, it's only a matter of time before the people start disobey any and all police and their orders and start targeting them, it's obvious they've made it a " them verses us " type situation. bottom line, this is bullshit and this needs to stop as well as cops need to start being sent to PRISON IN GENERAL POPULATION TOO.........
so....where is the video from before the actual arrest attempt. What happened before they were escorted out or told to leave? If you will notice, the Officer's mic is hanging down around his knees. That tells me that there is more to this before the recording started. Did any of you think before automatically jumping to the conclusion that the Cop was in the wrong that the incident started before the action you see on the camera?
@outtarounds IF something did happen before this video started then why wouldn't the officer place the citizen under arrest and let the law decide what to do...
@outtarounds Did you happen to watch the first ten seconds of the video before jumping to conclusions? The cop is on the mic and Chris is standing in front of him with his hands down and is never threatening the guy. The vigilante then throws the mic down and goes into badass mode. Why don't you watch a little more closely before posting your ignorance?
what makes me sad is that no one did anything about this. If I was being beaten like that, I would hope citizens would step in for my safety. But alas, people don't fight for other people. Police don't fear the population because they can do this, in front of this many people, without any other citizen coming to his aid.
Hell, if anything they should have pulled the cop off and started first aid, as first aid should be above the need of being arrested.
@bluefootedpig I love your post. I was wondering where the Good Samaritan was in all this but I guess people are afraid to defend when it is a police officer involved. My heart hurts to think no one could help this man.
My girlfriend works at a school by this place, so THIS IS JUST EMBARRASING. That fat fuck police officer is supposed to protect the public? He punches like a pussy, so, NO, I'm not safe if this is how the city of LR trains their policemen. This nothing new though, happens every night. Luckily, we gotcha on camera now. (Evil laugh) HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
No good. i hate to see incidents like that. It really hurts the credibility of law enforcement with the citizens they protect and thus weakens a necessary relationship for society to fluorish. At least its documented.
@jzlharvey You do realize that would be a felony don't you? There are a lot of cops just a radio call away and they keep coming until they control the situation. This idiot should have done as he was told and fought the charges later, that's what court is for.
@crowbaby By that logic, it would only be right if the cop was also charged with felony assault and told to fight the charges with this own time and money.
@highlandernorth1

At least its documented.

...or maybe the drunk bastard should have listened to the cop when he told him to turn around and put his hands on the wall.
Isn't Ferneau a classy joint? This sure makes me want to take my lady there for a nice dinner.

@jzlharvey You do realize that would be a felony don't you? There are a lot of cops just a radio call away and they keep coming until they control the situation. This idiot should have done as he was told and fought the charges later, that's what court is for.

@crowbaby
Evil prevails when good men do nothing
fourtwentytexas 3 months ago
@crowbaby By that logic, it would only be right if the cop was also charged with felony assault and told to fight the charges with this own time and money.

@crowbaby Obviously I know that. However, I also know that court does not always go in the favor of the Obvious....
