@ChrisMaxsonTV It's actually rather ambiguous as to whether Jun survived escorting Halsey to CASTLE Base. As per Halo: First Strike, Halsey does make it to CASTLE Base, but Jun isn't with her when she arrives.

I remember Kelly and some other Spartains finding their way there after Reach fell and that John (Master Chief) went back to Reach in a Covenant Cruiser (forgot what class) and found them all there. EXCEPT it doesn't mention Jun. So maybe he was probibly the only OFFICIAL spartain who was MIA? :(

@omzarinio There is an Easter egg which allows you to get inside that room. If you look close enough it states all members of noble team. Noble six"s name is replaced with a blurry "you". Master chief is not on that screen though.

It explains why Cortana's voice is so much like Hasley's and why she chose the Master Chief over all the other Spartan IIs. (Hasley said that she favored John above all the others and considered him the best of all the others).

Master Chief tested out the Mark V armor on Reach and Cortana had already chosen John. As for info on the Forerunners, remember that Hasley had access to all top-secret ONI data. Cortana filled in all the holes from reports, documents, and Covenant encrypted messages...

@tanvirsarker So far from what I gather is that the "Cortana" under Sword Base was a fragment of the "whole Cortana" and that she was indeed created using forerunner techniques. This leads me to believe that Cortana is a 'compound mind AI', just like Mendicant Bias and Offensive Bias of Forerunner design. They are literally an AI made up of several AI's. This would explain why Cortana survived her rampancy, as only compound minds can evolve to a stage known as metastable.

Cortana was flash cloned from Halsey's brain in 2549, there's nothing at all special about her, she's just another smart AI. Cortana wasn't rampant during Halo 3, only when they were adrift would she become rampant.
