The Mads....what can I say, they were the band that every band in Peru wanted to emulate, they sounded great, they not only played good but they really got into what they were playing, it didn't matter if they were playing covers or their own originals they made it their own with their intense and unique way of playing.I first saw them at this party and the reason I was there was because some friend told me that in that party there were going to be a lot of very hot chicks, but
performing in this discotheque for teenagers and Mick Jagger and his manager who were visiting Peru went to this very popular venue, and just as I was impressed with the Mads the first time I saw them Mick Jagger was too. They got a record deal and the left us, away they went to England to fulfill the dream. The only thing I regret is that there is nothing to document their music, they never recorded an album, who knows maybe one good day someone will rescue their music and share it with us.
grooves, along with Bill's solid bass playing and Richard's on the pocket playing made Mano's job a lot easier, there was a solid foundation to work with, to top it all they had incredible charisma, reason why everybody knew that wherever the Mads performed there were going to be an abundance of gorgeous girls, and wherever they played the outcome was always the same SOLD OUT ! THE MADS had a huge fan base.I'm not sure but in 68 or 69 I think, the Mads were
The band kept getting tighter and tighter, now they were writing their own songs, you know a song is good when everywhere they played people were requesting the ua ua (one of their more popular songs) in stead of some of the covers they used to play. The Mads paid a lot of attention to vocals, their vocals were flawless, they also grooved a lot because of their great sense of rhythm.Alex Ventura played a very solid rhythm guitar and he also played a lot of syncopate
I wasn't expecting to see this band , they were playing some Kinks covers and I had seen the Kinks here in the States only 8 month ago but I hate to say It because I love the Kinks but their rendition was phenomenal! true to what the song called for.I approached the lead guitar player (Mano Ventura) and complemented his playing, Mano was very down to earth and we became friends, he was very un-selfish and taught me a lot of techniques on how to improvise in guitar,
