Pocono fucked up so many people. Alot of nasty crashes here. Elliot Sadler, Tim Richmond and Earnhardt, Davey Allison, Steve Park and Jr., Ken Schraeder, and so many others.
From some of the stuff I had heard about Allison though, he was supposedly a real pain in the ass to work with, thus why he raced for a ton of teams. Whether that's true or not, I dunno. Makes you wonder what he could of done if he stayed with a team or two, like Petty or Pearson
@PYLrulz1984 Pain in the ass because he expected things done a certain way. Pretty much everything he got was on his own. Ed Hinton called it the saga of Allison pissing in the wind.
@shuttershades3 -Allison won in 8 different makes (more than anybody) for 16 different teams (more than anybody) . He won several races in cars built in his backyard shop. Earnhardt won 90% of his races for 1 team. Allison 85 victories-Earnhardt 76 victories.
@Greg4fun yeah your right..90 may have been a bit off cause he was only winning 2-3 races a year at that point...you cant race talladega and atlanta every week lol
Bobby Allison was one of the 5 greatest Nascardriver. Most of his time he did all himself from engine building chassis welding and bodywork and suspension alignment. Later in his years he had top rides and earn sometimes his hard work, Donnie, Eddie, Neil and son davey help him a lot. Really one of the hardcharger with Ricky Rudd. Thomas
Allison cut a tire off One; I think Mark Martin and Jimmy Means were behind him; as he spun in the Tunnel Martin and Means split around him, then Maggiacomo center-punched him right through the door. Bobby lost all memory of winning Daytona and supposedly his only memory of this Pocono day was complaining in the drivers meeting
@MRSYCOSQUIRREL69 Allison had a severe head injury that took part of his memory and had to re-learn his motor skills and functions in rehab. He went through it a lot including the loss of both of his sons Davey and Clifford. Bobby is just a resilient man.
I was there too... I remember seeing the helicopter leave, but didn't realize how bad Bobby's wreck was until after the race. Richard Petty was up there leading with about 50 to go, but got in the loose stuff and crashed in the tunnel turn. So when it was over, I was still stinging from that, but then heard how bad Bobby was hurt.
I wonder what would have happened if there were safety barriers there

@TMANMAN16z Alot of this along with the fact that the track is bumpy is why CART/IRL no longer run races there
