Weren't most of these just couples on the screen and maybe not in real life, some surprise me, like Jimmy Stewart, but maybe this was before he met Gloria. It's sad that Harlow and Lombard died so young, it makes you wonder if they would have stayed with their mates, Powell and Gable, if they had lived. We'll never know, certainly a thing of Hollywood legend.

William Holden & Audrey Hopburn were going to get married but she only turned him down after she found out he had vasectomy. She wanted to have children in her marriage. He was already married but separated. I read this in his biography.

@skristoferu the reason that Holden had a vasectomy so young was because he and his wife, Brenda Marshall, were not faithful to each other and he did not want to impregnate another woman he might be having an affair with. Too bad, because he and Audrey would have had gorgeous children. I'm glad that Audrey stood to her guns though about having children. Apparently, she never found true love in her husbands, but she did have 2 sons from her two husbands.

Marilyn died of an overdose in 1962, she was 36. No one knows if it was suicide, accidental suicide or if she was murdered.

Marlon died in 2004 of pulmonary fibrosis. He was 80 i think.

I love this song (who sings it?) but I feel sad when I see some of these pictures and the song plays right into my sadness. When I see Harlow and Lombard, both who died so young and tragically and left their men in such a state of sadness and shock, and Vivien and Olivier, whom she loved so much but whose mental illness caused a huge problem within their marriage. Even so, to be loved so passionately as these couples did, who wouldn't love it. I would, even if just for a short time in my life.

I don't know if it's true but I saw in a documentary about Hollywood Gays during the Golden Age of Movies that it mentioned Barbara Stanwycks Marriage with Robert Taylor was set up by MGM and that Robert was in fact gay.

Mayer in order to avoid public scandal. "The studio arranged everything", Taylor said, "All I had to say about the whole thing was 'I do'".

They were pressed to marry but they loved each other.
