I seem to have a weakness for boogie woogie X ) I feel old everytime I realise that.

  • @MrWeedpatch :-)

  • BUT HOW COME YOU GUYS DONT INVENT THAT BEFORE THAN JERRY LEE LEWIIS?

  • i can't combine both hands :( do you have any tips? I'm a amateur at piano

  • @ThePupGirl Hmm im having the same problem right now but that might be because im tired xD but really, just practice! keep playing them separately or slowly together until you do it automatically so you dont think about it

    cheers

    :)

  • Haha,i think you are steve jobs :D

  • A I THINK I GOT IT. WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT WHAT I PLAYED????

  • thank you sir! god bless

  • You just made turtle necks and baldness cool agian, my friend.

  • The pianoguy is awesome!

Just imagine him on acid xD

  • Do you know a man named William Pace?

  • great vid but you didn't explained very well what you did with you left hand

  • @avesatan It's three pairs of notes. C-G x2, C-A x2. Repeat with F-C and F-D, and then again with G and the same interval (I bet you can figure that one out).

Follow a standard 12-bar progression and you've got the LH licked after a few weeks of practice. There's a few ways to play it, either really bluesy, this boogie style, or you can swing it more.

    Hope it helps.

  • @silvermediastudio thanks

  • boring duud so shut up

  • Thanks very much for this. Some wonderful boogie-woogie piano sheet music is available at manymidi.com/sheetmusic.htm.

  • You just gotta love it, thats my kind of music

  • OMG Steven Jobs :-D

  • He have similiar view to Steve Jobs lol!

  • Thanks so much for this! I play with a professional variety band and I have had a hard time doing rides. You broke this down in a way that I understand and hear. It is VERY much appreciated! Our band's heading off New Year's Day for a 6 month cruise gig and your info has truly boosted my playing!!! THANKS AGAIN!

  • @JamesRoneyMusic you know what i actually agree with you on this one, the video was off putting primarily because he's teaching one thing and then demonstrating another. That is not the point of this kind of video!

  • Is he a Steve's Jobs twin brother ?!?!

  • fantastic thankyou so much for your videos, Peter

  • As an intermediate Pianist, knowing all my chords, able to site read only, in about an hour I was able to play it solid. how hard can it be , C then F, then G , his instruction and demonstration of fingering made the difference. I had been viewing ,and watched many You tube Boogie woogie lessons that I was unable to comprehend ,that is until I watched pianoguytv . I found scott to be an excellent teacher, I dont know why people r bashing him ,, he is the master.. he rules !

  • @donnad268 he is good for newer players, but he does not play blues piano very well

  • @donnad268 ..You are so right! Maybe those ppl who are putting this guy down don't actually play. I don't know..but I DO know this has helped me tremendously and I play with a professional band. Many thanks!

  • harder than the dickens.. i love it haha thanks for this found it very helpful

  • You are an inspiration to me. I saw your video on the front page and then I told my mom to look you up and my mom signed me up for piano lessons. Then, I learned this riff from you. Please check out my videos. I am still working on getting this riff on video so I have not posted it yet. I hope that you like mine.

  • wicked!! clear simple instructive...check this guy out...jasonbaxterpiano

  • @MrDirkbuckstar

    i'll do :D

  • Could you put some piano chording to a fiddle ( celtic music )

    I enjoy your lessons. Thanks

  • really good teacher man

  • Unlike the Piano Guy who fails to keep the double beat in the left handing going, we must make sure we keep it going... for without the double beat that he originally shows us in the beginning, the back bone to this classic boogie woogie beat has been compromised. Point being: If you show your students one way to play it in the left hand, then as a teacher we also need to follow through and actually play it the way we showed our students. Yes I can play this and with ease since the 70s.

  • @JamesRoneyMusic Methinks I have been chastised by the "keeper of the sacred standards of official boogie-woogie-dom" :-) Sorry for my lack of chops, but i still have a ball playing! I'll try harder next time ...

  • @pianoguytv... normally I never post comments about this kind of stuff, just that you have such a huge influence in this industry on impressionable minds, that I felt a sense of duty as a teacher myself to bring this to your attention.

Regardless, you are admired and revered greatly for all you do to help lead the great pianos players of tomorrow, today!

    God bless.

  • @pianoguytv You do not have a "lack of chops" by no means. You are awsome, so keep on playing. There will always be someone out there who tries to claim they are the expert, when in fact we are all a work in progress. Keep up the excellent videos!

  • @pianoguytv dude you should put out a video where you can show off your best playing

  • @JamesRoneyMusic compromised? It's not being played in Afghanistan, it's a piano riff and it sounded good. Sheesh get a life dude

  • @JamesRoneyMusic You sound like an uptight douchebag Mozart wannabe. You and Elton John can go practice fingering exercises under the piano.

  • @wolf1435, as a piano teacher of nearly 40 years, you always play it the way you show it to your students. He never once played it the way he showed his students how they should play it. Simply said, the teacher should always lead by example. The boogie woogie riff must be repeated properly or the riff itself breaks down. Obviously this is not something you can play, otherwise you would value my position on this major blooper in this teaching video. I'll post a correct version myself.

  • @JamesRoneyMusic Dear James (little bitch), The songs on your channel suck. Nobody asked for you to critique Scott. He can play or teach however he wants and doesn't need you. It's not a "major blooper." That's why Scott has a million views and your shitty channel can't even come close.

  • @JamesRoneyMusic Why don't you give the guy a break for Christ sakes. you are this great piano teacher, but I wonder why I have never seen you on tv? The piano guy is great. You obviously have nothing better to do with your time freak.

  • @JamesRoneyMusic

Even with visuals I couldn't describe why the bubbly part faded as he plays. Good that when people skimp there's still pros around to show us what we're missing.

If PianoGuyTV mocks standards as stodgy restrictions he misses the point. You never said there's only one way to play, just that you knew something better.

Worse than losing standards built on the masters' best is losing people who cherish the finesse they bring to everything. Hard endures. Easy gets forgot

  • @JamesRoneyMusic Roney, ask 50 pianists how to play a boogie woogie beat, and you'll get about 200 answers. I'm waiting to watch your video upload that shows exactly how it's done. Thanks for contributing so much to this video with your comment.

  • thank you so much i whas looking for this kinda video for days so thnx

  • So the only rule is there ain't no rules... which in itself is a rule.... so yeah... the only rule is there is a rule... Hell, I love that lesson and I've never picked up a piano in my life... I'm tryin it on guitar. JLL rocks!

  • nothing like being taught piano riffs by a steve jobs clone

  • super

  • Hi playing with both hand is impossible. I would be most grateful if you could give me some hints and tips on how to practice so that eventually i can play with both hand together. many thanks.........a beginner

  • @typhoontom1 hi i am a beginner 2 and here is a tip playing this with both hands. he is playing CCGG- CCAA

im playing this CG-CA I hope you understand what i mean.

  • I think I finger my chord wrong...

  • that's nice, easy to play, but it does its job. LOL

  • This sounds nothing like Jerry Lee, the bass hand of piano is completely wrong. Has no one got ears? Jerry plays lazy off his left pinky but bang on the 12/8 constantly in tight patterns,. Very hard to master - but the again, that's Jerry Lee Lewis!

  • da da da da... whatever :D!

  • Shakes my Souls :DD

  • You're a great teacher...just like my child's piano teacher. Very easy going. Thanks for sharing.

  • you are a great teacher and seem to be a very nice person!!!

  • Do you use the pedal?

  • lol ! ... "whatever" .... watch this part haha ... 3 minutes 53 sec.

  • the idiots claiming too communist need to be stuck in a death camp, then say that shit. seriously, this is just a riff for those of us that can understand such things

  • @williamkendrick you're right, i don't understand this ridiculously technical riff played by the virtuoso in the video.

  • Thats not hard. I taught myself all this crap by listening to Jerry Lee Lewis.

  • It is I am talking about!!!

  • Thank you very much for sharing!

  • harder than the dickens!

  • thanks!!!great

  • I love boogie woogie but understand nothing of the notes etc...

  • learn the chords and all their inversions and u will undertand.

  • Hehe, I am a musical idiot. I think it's safe for everyone if other people play and I listen...

  • very very helpful thanx

  • Very good! Helped me a lot...

  • helped me! thx

  • "too much communism" 1:09 xD

    anyway great video!

  • Hey Slaaptekort,

I just tried the riffs on the guitar and the piano.

Your friends could use a capo on the 3th fret and then play the chords as usual in A.

Then you can go on playing in C.

    Greetings, MadMax

  • Hey! Good tutorial!

I have one question though: Me and my friends like to play some boogie woogie togheter (they play guitar), but they'd like to play in A instead of C. How do you do that slide thing for chord who use black keys as the 2nd note in the chord?

  • COOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLL

  • this is great, but unfortunately extremely out of sync.

  • Hey Scott. Great video. Can you tell me do you need to use an 88 key keyboard/piano or can you play Boogie Woogie with a 61 key one? I was thinking of buying a second hand 61 key one as I'm just starting out. Thanks

  • it's up to the range of a certain song. but for the first few months 5 octaves are enough for u to start learning the technique. u better pick a 76 key keyboard, u will have a wider range and be able to play 99% of songs.

  • 1:11 communist?

  • LOL. Too much peanut butter before we started the cameras...

  • @xxthexjakexx LOLOL

  • @xxthexjakexx lmfao i noticed that

  • i will grab my old keyboard and re-play piano .

been 4 years i haven't played seriously . i took lessons for 10 years though... and am a pretty decent player as far as remember.

I HAVE to play again . I swear to play again the piano . Sir , you made me have an important decision in my life ... (i know , i am very impulsive as a person , but that's makes us humans and not robots ! )

  • hm yes ok who cares?

  • you should get a music pad pro!

  • And?

  • Nothing. I just mentioned it.

  • and?

  • Can't you read?

  • love it!!!

    omg thats amazing!

its so fun, yet so easy!

  • Very cool. I love the boogie riffs!

  • Rogain? Kevis? Anything...I can't see!
