Fedor did not break his nose in the Rogers fight. It was a cut that he got a few weeks before the fight training and it re opened, it was a lot worse than it looked. If you watch the fight again all Rogers did was hit him with that one jab that cut his nose, turned Fedor over when he went for a submission and landed about 3 of the shots he threw, and he pressed him against the cage a few times and was holding the cage frequently and was warned to let go several times. I think it was really close. It wasn't as ridiculous as the Shogun-Machida decision. I think that Vera clearly won the second round, but the other 2 were really close.
I think that Couture got the win because he did control the pace of most of the fight.

Its just that those few good fighters dont have a lot of legitimate competition outside of eachother. Alistair Overeem for example will never have a tough fight UNLESS its Fedor or Fabricio. Nobody else can challenge him in SF. It would be more exciting with them in UFC where they could have more competitive fights.

@stockmaster1982 Dana White ran everything back when Pride and UFC used to mix it up. The reason Pride and UFC were able to co-promote was because they were of a similar size and power in terms of business and money. It was mutually beneficial. SF is about 1/4 the company that UFC is. For the UFC to co-promote with them would do NOTHING but empower and bring attention to there potential competition. Dana doesnt co-promote because its a very foolish idea from a business point of view.

but if you think he won that first round you are wrong. Fedor landed way more punches, had several successful takedowns, and several submissions attempts. Brett has a lot of promise don't get me wrong, he needs to work on his cardio, he was gassed 4 minutes into the first round. He was complaining that he should of threw more punches at the press conference, but he would of gassed even quicker if he did. Sounds more like excuses instead of taking a loss like a man.

Fedor did not break his nose in the Rogers fight. It was a cut that he got a few weeks before the fight training and it re opened, it was a lot worse than it looked. If you watch the fight again all Rogers did was hit him with that one jab that cut his nose, turned Fedor over when he went for a submission and landed about 3 of the shots he threw, and he pressed him against the cage a few times and was holding the cage frequently and was warned to let go several times. Fedor fought a crocop in his prime. Crocop is overdue and is a former shell to what he use to be. The rules and restrictions in PRIDE and different to the UFC. Fedor dosent want to be tied down to some half assed attempt at an MMA comp. Fedor is not about money, its about gainging as many top fights as he can. I think it was really close. It wasn't as ridiculous as the Shogun-Machida decision. I think that Vera clearly won the second round, but the other 2 were really close.
I think that Couture got the win because he did control the pace of most of the fight.
However, Vera landed the most damaging strikes and that does not count for as much as it should.
Tough call, but if you look at the judging criteria, I can see how they came to their decision.

Dude, I really do not think that Overeem or Rogers would beat Mir, let alone Lesnar.
If Barnett could stay off the juice, he'd be as good as anyone.
He is almost as good of a wrestler as Brock, and has a better standup game.
I think the injuries that plagued the UFC HW division was karma; that prick Dana White shouldn't have been talking smack about Fedor, who undoubtedly is the greatest HW in MMA history.
UFC has some good HWs, but that is NO reason to trash Fedor the way Dana did.

Lesnar's takedown is as quick as any heavyweight, and he is stronger than any heavyweight.
No matter what anyone thinks about Brock, this fact makes him dangerous to any HW, Fedor included.
Why do people bring up the Arlovski fight? Sure, Arlovski won the first 3 minutes or less, then he got knocked out! Arlovski wasn't dominating, the leg kicks were effective is all.

I never said Brock would beat Fedor. What I did say, and I stick by, is that Brock would not be an easy opponent.
He is quicker and stronger than Fedor, with great takedowns.
Brock brings out as many haters as fanboys. I am neither.
Fedor would beat Brock the way he beats everyone, by being calm and not panicking.
Brock, most likely, would dominate the early going. He may look like he is gonna win it, but when he doesn't, he'll get frustrated.

yes, many UFC fighters love to use GnP, but Fedor knows how to break arms in under fighter, in these moments he uses Sambo skill. Remember Coleman vs Fedor or Rogers vs Fedor, but against Rogers Fedor couldn't make armbar, though he tryed. Fedor doesn't have weaknesses.
And yes, Lesnar just has bunny punches, though these punches also very heavy like Fedor's.

Arlovsky looked like he was using leg kicks effectively, and Fedor did look sluggish.
If Fedor was controlling the fight, he was doing it with such nuance that a large majority of commentators and fans missed it.
ANy way you cut it, it was an early first round knock out, and I don't buy the lucky punch theory. Fedor is a master, and he waits for these opportunities.
One can't point to that fight as some chink in Fedor's armor.
Rogers fucked him up, but Fedor was unflappable and KOd him too.

I saw the fight live on TV, twice.
Fedor's face at the end was more fucked up than Rogers.
But Fedor knocked him out. That's the point.
You see total domination, I didn't.
What I did see was Fedor calm and controlled at all times, even with his face covered with his own blood.
If Rogers never gored Fedor, I'd say that Fedor 'totally' destroyed him.
But Rogers gored Fedor, and that counts.

That said, the last Strike Force event was better than any UFC this year. Thomson-Melendes was one of the best fights I've seen all year.
If Strike Force keeps having cards like that, UFC is gonna have serious competition really soon.

Its just that those few good fighters dont have a lot of legitimate competition outside of eachother. Alistair Overeem for example will never have a tough fight UNLESS its Fedor or Fabricio. Nobody else can challenge him in SF. It would be more exciting with them in UFC where they could have more competitive fights.

The reason Pride and UFC were able to co-promote was because they were of a similar size and power in terms of business and money. It was mutually beneficial. SF is about 1/4 the company that UFC is. For the UFC to co-promote with them would do NOTHING but empower and bring attention to there potential competition. Dana doesnt co-promote because its a very foolish idea from a business point of view.

@Godzillabatman Remember UFC almost went out
of business, that's how bad the UFC was at the time,
and it was very close of them selling to the WWE!
It was basicly the TUF Reality show that saved them!
Back than there is not doubt that Pride was ahead
of the UFC, and that's why dana was willing to compromote
in order to get more exposure! Remember UFC back
than was led by Tim sylvia, Tito, Randy, Arlvoski!
And Pride was led by Fedor, Shogun, Noguiera, Rampage
Jackson, Anderson Silva!etc.
