Does he really think it's okay to say something like this?

  • More exciting then a leafs game! haha

  • When I was in school, murder ball was lining up someone to a wall and whipping a tennis ball at their back.

  • @Algonquin81

same. except you threw the ball against the wall and who ever fumbled the tennis ball had to go up against the wall while everybody threw a tennis ball at them.

  • Represent Newfoundland Ricky

  • OK, little thing, but it's confusing me. They keep using the words 'quad' and 'quadraplegic', but isn't a quadraplegic someone with paralysis in all FOUR limbs? I.e., who can't use their arms? But that's clearly not what they mean, because the guy can obviously use their arms. What am I missing?

  • @junbh2 They have different levels of injury (different areas of the spine). The higher the injury, the more paralysis. So their arms and hands are affected, they usually lack triceps. Meaning the can't grip at all or as tightly as the rest.

  • my old high school!

  • leave it to us to create a needlessly violent sport. not that thats a bad thing

  • that was awesome

  • omg I'm able bodied and I'd love to play this.

  • it hurt your feelings lol

  • "nobody ever broke their neck in a library!"

Go Dave Willsie , love your view on life!!

  • loved this doco into wheelchair rugby

  • haha..ohh london

  • Go Mercer go!

  • then again every thing is more exciting then a leafs game

  • Holy shit this sport is pretty violent. lol

  • I would love to watch and support this game. Will it come to Kitchener?

  • It's all arounf Toronto... a short drive and you'd be suprised...

  • Agreed, coming to kitchener would be very cool. I would readily support it

  • In short, quads have a loss of function in all 4 limbs. some can't move at all below the neck. others are more like these guys-much more mobile and having more arm/hand function.

  • That looks fun :D

  • don't their fingers get smashed!?

  • I think that why the wheels are tilted, so that the part that hits is further out than where their hands are :)

  • easier to wheel around also

  • @carlingnugent no, its so they can go faster and turn a lot quicker. The hands still can get. I know from playing wheelchair basketball.

  • i love canada never wanna leave

  • Aren't they all paraplegic though? Quadriplegic is when you can't move your legs OR arms. Quad as in four... so all four limbs are affected?

Can someone explain that to me?

  • Same thing I was thinking

  • BUT... Quads can sometimes have movement in their arms. All quads have a dysfunction in their fingers but can have some movement in their arms.

  • Well "sometimes" is an understatement... there are more Quadruplegics what can move their arms than ones that cant...

as a general rule; C1 C2 C3 C4 break majorly affect the arms

C5 C6 C7 C8 have little dysfuntion in the arms and mainly just finger dysfunction

although there many fortunate and unfortunate cases, common break happen from C4-C8

  • Well yes, but your thinking the worst outcome...

The easiest way to think about it is like this; if you were to suffer a spinal cord injury and some form of muscle(fingers, tricept, bicept, ect...) were affected in your arms you may be labelled a quadripelgic...

look at the gy rick is talking to, his fingers are affected (straight out)

This is a common and unfortunate misconception; Quad or 4 as u said only means something is affected in their arms, not the entire arm is affected
