I only wish Rule of Rose was actually scary, it would have not been just beautiful, but horrifyingly beautiful, like Silent Hill 2, only less macabre.
Love this game! My only problem though was the combat. It felt like a lifetime of fighting when dealing with bosses and those uncanny imps. I wish Brown would help when fighting. At least he makes up for it by finding items that would be otherwise impossible to find without him.
I've played this game, do not even compare it to Demento/Haunting Ground, this one is sooo mediocre. Starts very interesting, then goes boring and ends... I'm not gonna spoil the game for you any more. Haunting Ground in the other hand is nearly a perfect game, creates intense atmoshperes, makes you shake and nervous when playing, has a lot of variations trough the game and the best graphics I saw on PS2 along with MGS3 maybe.
It's all a matter of your opinion. If you found it so boring, then more than likely, you didn't get the entire story.
Just because you do not like the game does not mean others have to agree with you. While Haunting Ground is a good game, I personally find Rule of Rose to be better.
@Sunchaser Very awesome vid! loved it!! i love both Rule of Rose & Haunting Ground; both r amazing games. But i think i like Rule of Rose better b/c of its meaning, morals, & incredibly beautiful storyline. Besides the bond b/w Jennifer & Brown is alot more...meaningful than Fiona & Hewies'.
I'll have to agree with Sunchaser, rule of rose is a beautiful game and I do think is WAY better than haunting ground, the plot just gets amazing every chapter, the combat may not be too good but I think it fits perfectly the context of the events, awesome soundtrack and the characters are just as great.
I wouldn't call certain female characters "wusses" just for running. Sometimes running away is the smartest/best or only option. Run away, live to fight (or outsmart your enemy into leaving you alone or whatever) another day. Plus it just wasn't in Fiona's character to be all "Geeze, these people are freaking scary, won't let me leave, and now they want me dead. I'm getting pissed off. I'm gonna kick their ass." You know? Kicking may be a small thing compared to attacking with a bat or something
Not in fighting. He can lead you to items. He can sort of fight...in boss fights he can grab onto enemies but it's kinda worthless. It only gets him hurt.
o totally! Hewie definitely has my vote against Brown. Culd u explain the story of rule of rose 2 me plz? No matter how many times i beat it, i stil dont understnd. Like i mean 2 explain the whole story.

Yes...Jennifer (Rule of Rose) is even more of a wuss than Fiona. But you do get weapons in Rule of Rose. ^_^ Instead of kicking and running.
