@AsmodelSoljah I think the mesh and lace comparison is the illusion we all have about real life. That comparison seems to best fit what we consider "beautiful" today but it also fits every other aspect of life that many humans have tarnished.
Forget the dumb Ads, Forget the analysis, Find your lover, put on the tune, and "melt" with them, moving forward, "using all your breath",till ya don't care if the world stops. Then afterward watch this again.Get It?
I would give anything to have the 1980's back; life was so much simpler back then; our economy wasn't equivalent to a 90 pound weakling, politics was better, the music was WAY better, movies were better, black music was WAY better with Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, etc.; clubbing was more fun and significantly safer then today. Today's life is nothing but struggle, fustration, broken homes, and a deteriorating America and Europe; and to top it all off nothing but natural disasters.
This song says everything you need to know about the 80s, techno, MTV (when they were actually playing videos). Its brilliant and is one of my all time faves
i wonder if in the movie theater when Robbie Grey, the lead singer of this band, hears this song in a trailer he stands up and hes like, "everybody, thats my fucking song!"
ya this song got ruined by all the remakes!!! the original is the way to go!!! such a good song...i could have sworn that is was by the pychedelic furs tho
@globalchaos1984 How did they kill it? I first heard this in that tacobell commercial and I got turned on to a sector of music I'd never heard of before. Without exposure in modern advertising, video games, and films alot of music risks being largely lost to history. If shit music is all you hear in media it won't be long until only shit music exists and real talent is replaced with crap manufactured on computers.
@KrazyKommieKiller They use song for commercial to target certain age for their product, it is fair because we can have good vibration when we hear songs that were so great, otherwise we would just forget them.
@KrazyKommieKiller I feel the same way about a LOT of Glee covers. Were they as good? No. But I know far too many people (who, granted, were mostly young) who listened to Glee covers and were inspired to listen to the original and love it, thus learning more about a genre of music.
@globalchaos1984 Yeah! Kinda like how they use the Flintstones and the Jetsons to sell products..... I bet kids these days dont even know that those were actual cartoons rather than Ad figures :P
LOVE the swirlies ! Reminds me of the computers in the old days, the screensavers? Remember them from Apple ? Love it ! faved, too. this one takes me back...
Taco Bell almost killed it? And not the million cleaning products commercials? It would have killed it for me until I had a dream with a cool version of this song that made me rediscover something I thought I'd never take a second look at again.
Thank you Carrie, spot on as always. I needed a lift, reading about Willie Nelson maybe going to jail, well, to a Texan thats just sacrilege or something straight outta Alices Restaurant.........
I will play this song at my wedding. We will dance, and jump, and sing, and the walls will crack as they strain to contain so much happiness. Thank you, Robbie Grey.
And a big fuck off to Hershey's. They will never understand. D:!
The great thing is that, for whatever (perfectly great) reason, I don't associate this song with Taco Bell or any other ads it is/was associated with this.
Take that you dirty companies with your dirty marketing ploys...Fffffuck off.
Craig Ferguson is the best! When the show started last night, and saw that it was going to be one of his karoke openings, I got excited and moved right in front of the tv. It's great how into it his audience gets.
im not sure which version is better this or bowling for soup, bowling for soup is more rock though, where as this isnt its more i dunno but not as rockish
@kyle2771995 Sure it's British pop because they are british and it's a pop song but if you meant "britpop" which was a specific genre created by the media in the late 80's to early 90's to describe bands like oasis, blur, suede, elastica, pulp, etc then this is not really that. This group is more post punk or new wave cuz it's from 1982 before the term "britpop" existed.

@selome101 - Yes it is simple, essentially a 2 chord song except for the minor modulation at the bridge. That's what made the British 80's bands great, the simplicity without the corny bubble gum sound of the 50's ( though 70's rock is still the best - in my opinion). But it is very hard to write a great, memorable and original 2 chord song like this- and no guitar solo either.
@Thetalker1210 - If you're expecting a guitar solo, you won't find it. This is the signature 80's sound (except the hairbands), simple chord structures and no guitar solo. There is the synth solo for a few bars, (it sounds like the NBC riff) but it's not a true solo because it does it throughout the song and doesn't change.
@mofofosho13 What? I never went on this video and--oh wait my dad probably did this! He doesn't want to make a youtube account so he uses mine for old 80's music! Sorry about that but I will inform my dad about your reply! And I'm totally making an account for him, wither he likes it or not!
