I've tried to avoid being that Paitant/EMT But When I had a Fall a couple years ago, I wish I had been telling them what to do. First I did insist on full C-spine immobilization. But during transport The driver didn't know how to get to the Hospital from were he was at. I felt like saying wait I'll drive. The real problem was in the ER, The Doctor only ordered x-rays of my T-Spine and not my the entire spine. Turns out I did have C & L Spine injuries. NO More EMS for me : (
just listened to it again.. lol you were playing dr to yourself enroute... gotta love it! I remember rolling my car one winter, and the crew that showed up.. the paramedic that was attending me.. I told him what size collar I took, and suggested that since a head injury was my chief complaint, perhaps a non-rebreather set at about 10 liters of O2 might be in order.. Paramedics, nurses, doctors are all the most bossy patients, aren't we? wink
@Justtc The racing advice seems to be to get right back on if you can, but I think a track is different. I've suggested not to do it until it feels right. At least I wouldn't. For whatever reason I was itching to get back on as soon as possible. I was still limping when I got my next one 7 months later.
@Justtc Maybe take the advanced Motorcycle Safety Foundation course. MSF doesn't offer them in my area, but no matter how experienced, people say they get comfortable with a lot of skills from those.
@Justtc You could try racing somewhere on an open track day, too. Most of those places have beginner classes, but they expect you to have road riding experience. I went to a roadracing track for the first time last November. I followed the owner around the track about 6 laps. He just went faster every time and I was comfortable with the pace. It was a blast.
thanks, Hueco. I will see if the local cop shop can find it for me. Ok, how did you get back on a bike after that? I really REALLY want to go riding. I went and looked at a couple of bikes, but had massive panic attacks that have kept me from getting back in the seat. Any insight on how to get past that would be VERY much appreciated!
@Justtc I bought a BMW K1200R and a second gen 2009 Vmax after that. The bike there was a 2001 Vmax. Try calling a polioce non-emergency number and ask them how to get dispatch calls. That may work.
@ctapp24 Rescue 22 refers to his unit. It's the ambulance or the fire station it's out of. He actually got that wrong because he was pulling a shift off of his regular rig.
We only fly burns out because we are the only Level 1 trauma center in the region, and yes that was the hospital. I was a level 2, oriented with a normal BP. All of my fractures weren't evident, or I could have arguably been a 1.
OMG Scott that was eerie. I found myself actually holding my breath as I visualized the scenario. A crash w/terrible injuries couldn't/wouldn't keep ya down huh!
It kept me down. After some reflex struggling and snap/pop of bone and pulling on a hot exhuast, I realized that settling down in pain was better than struggling in it. I am back up now, though.
play this video and play ''till i collapse instrumental'' then play both together. talk about motivation

I wish I could get a copy of the call to the police after my motorbike accident. What type of bike did you have? You back riding at all?
