Wikipedia is always fact checked with linked sources the only time I've ever found something wrong on wikipedia is when someone changes as a prank and it's usually changed back within hours. Like the song but everyone always rips on wikipedia and they are wrong. I've never seen a better source of information or encyclopedia.

@demiser21 well... i'm gonna let you have your opinion, as it is valid, however, please oh please use Wikipedia as your references in anything intellectual. Wikipedia should be used as a source to find connections to information. things have to be cited, thus use the citation to get to the real material. if you only use Wikipedia, well then... i have nothing to say. as a quick resource, it is a good tool. but it is not a true source of information, merely a way station.

@mrmole1 I have put up the majority of the material on fungi which can be seen on wiki, it's all up to date from the most recent monographs and works on the subject. Being a mycologist myself I am usually floating around the fungi portal on wiki, I have never seen a mistake with any subject. I would call it a source of true information.

@Mu51ch3r3 again, it is a source, but not a true source. a true source would be the original source. wiki is a collection of sources and the citations need to be clearly made and are best when linked to the original source. if you disagree with this statement than i challenge you to write an academic paper, submit to a panel of peers for publication, using only wiki sources as references. if it were a true source, the reviewers would allow you to do so.

@demiser21 erm my brother has a wikipedia page because he's connected to someone famous, anyone, they called hima Alexa as apposed to Alex (we tortured him mercilessly for that) Wikipedia can be wrong. also, I read a whole wikipedia page about a comedian that just got more and more ridiculous as it went on, to he's a kkk memeber and that he murdered puppies. whoever went on that page hated that guy. ANd the page was never updated....

@PUPPYLUVE44 Yes people do mess with articles but if it's an important article it is always corrected quickly. Go to any averagely trafficked page and change something and watch how fast it will be corrected. I still stand by that it is the Best source that doesn't mean it is a perfect source but encyclopedia's are no more accurate and other people's writing is always slanted with an opinion.

@demiser21 as i stated above... it is a source. it is not a valid source for many things- particularly intellectual documents. it is good to use as a base source that will lead to accurate and valid resources that could be used in such.

What can I say.  I am a creepy old man. I have a beard and I tell "back in my day" stories. It's alright though because I have hip t-shirts and young person shoes so I fit in with those youngsters and their youngness.
