No4 and Sheerang Laa Dee Da were some of the greatest albums of 1999 and 2001.........they came out in the time of nu metal so they did'nt stand a chance.

@Zac6230 Oh, n btw you little punk-ass, p*ssy b*tch...You have no idea what you're talking about and I find it hilarious you're calling me stupid when you can't even punctuate your sentences properly...commas go directly behind the word moron, (like that), there's no space between words and commas. Not to mention you didn't even defend your argument at all. What a total F*CKING Moron!
@Zac6230 Why did you waste your time arguing with nick if you thought there was no way to say anything without him disagreeing with you? What a hypocrite! And btw, Scott Weiland has an amazing acoustic voice. That's why he said that.
@SpursRock20 Spurs, don't argue w/ this kid, he clearly has issues...if you look back on the prev. page I was just trying to have a friendly debate until the do*che has the b*lls to call me "dumb", so I got bent. It doesn't matter, Scott is one of the premeire acoustic singers of the alternative era
@nickynice711 Yeah I know, I just hate when people diss on STP and have no real reason to do it. Any one who calls them Pearl Jam rip-offs and grunge bandwagon jumpers are just listening to what others have said.
No one knows that STP were performing "Wicked Garden" "Piece of Pie" and other big rockers in the eighties in local clubs well before Pearl Jam and "grunge" was even thought of.
@SpursRock20 Very true...I'll go one better, Alice, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Mother Love Bone, and Temple of the Dog all from Seattle, and then comes "rip-off" STP who just started making music on the Seattle scene right after all these bands came out right?....Wrong! This Seattle rip-off band was actually from Cali and was making similar (but as later albums showed, very different) music at the same time and had no idea of what their northern neighbors were doing. Great band
@gmman1212 WTF are you talking about man?? I'm the biggest STP n Scotty fan goin. Check your reading comp you illiterate F*CK!...I was saying how STP was more original than the other bands of the era b/c they weren't even from Seattle, so anybody who labels them a "rip-off" has no clue what they're talking about
@NnysVelvetRevolver My man Nnys Of course! had it a week before it came out!... Let me ask you broseph, what would you change about their live shows? And what is one song that you've never heard live that you'd want to hear most? I've always been dying to hear Adhesive live along with Pruno; a beautiful ballad and a monster rocker that has never gotten any credit (along w/ No_4 in its entirity for that matter!).
and a song played live....well, maybe Naked Sunday would be nice, or...one of the rare songs from the MJY days like, Spanish Fly or Scary Area! that would be epic!!
@NnysVelvetRevolver I got the new album a week early b/c my local-yocal record store has a connect where they get albums in b4 they're released...It's great! As for Silver Superman, they've been playing it live...always love it! Naked Sunday is a great choice, but I always feel live sets are usu so Core-heavy anyway so that's why I'd go w/ newer stuff like Pruno. As far as Shanri-La goes...so good. Actually I saw them in A/C, they played Regeneration...I nearly peed! Bi-Polar wud be great also!
well, with silvergun, ive never heard while i was at a concert, i wish coma was still played more often though it used to back right before they broke up but its soooo rare now. oh Pops Love Suicide would be really cool wouldnt it?
btw, do they ever play All in The Suit live? that would be epic...i heard that they are planning at least 5 MORE ALBUMS! boy, i wish they could never go away...
@NnysVelvetRevolver Looooove Coma live, love Coma recorded...I just F'in love that song, soooo...I actually heard it live a few times but not in years, I def think it shud be a regular in their live catalogue. Pop's Love...omfg, great call!...Believe it or not I heard them play it live once...I was stunned, it was amazing! Could also go for Too Cool Queenie, No Way Out, and Army Ants...
yep army ants would be epic, ive seen vids of it here, Sin would be awsome, but you know, his voice wont be as amazing as in newer songs, but regardless, Sin, and Unglued (ive heard before) would just be awsome. Also, i almost sh*t my pants when they played Tumble in the Rough that was such a treat
@NnysVelvetRevolver I went nuts for Tumble in the Rough when they played it this summer as well...one of my fav's...never addressed ur ques about All in the Suit...nev heard it live but I'd love to...They played Sin (along w/ Piece of Pie!) when I saw them in 2000 & 08 n it rocked completely, and I haven't heard Unglued live in years but I love it so much, along w/ all b-sides on Purple.
Now for another, At this pt, what songs can u do w/out from their live catalogue?
with my list i was being very conserrvative, while not expecting such a lengthy answer; i guess ill have to not be conservative about this now...the gloves come off.....
Opening: Wicked Garden, Unglued, Tumble, then Atlanta acoustic, Coma, Crackerman, Hazy Days, All in the Suit, Pops Love, Pretty Penny, Big Bang Baby, Trippin', Days of the Week acoustic,
ENCORE: Sex Type Thing, Hollywood Bitch, Silvergun, Peice of Pie, Where the River Goes.....wow.....we are true fans of STP
here is some trivia: waht was STP called before Stone Temple Pilots, and after Mighty Joe Young?........heehee
@NnysVelvetRevolver Well it's STP man...I have a lot to say about them...They are the most critically unheralded and flat-out underrated band in the history of rock and it's my duty to defend them!
And as far as being excessive, they played 19 songs when I say them Sept. 4th of mostly hits I've heard thousands of times on the radio, and the catalogue I came up with had 21, it was just more b-side / less single friendly. We need to expose ppl to b-sides. Scott is much happier when singing them
@NnysVelvetRevolver Hello my young and prematurely wise friend!...Hope your Thanksgiving was well, it always was my fav holiday until I lost my dad in July 09. But picking up our convo, yeah man there's some great clips from that show...I've already watched em all, but not that one....I'll give it a look. You shud check out their show from the house of bluesLA in like 00/01. It's the one where they start w/ Crakerman w/ Scotty in the fur coat.
@NnysVelvetRevolver they were stp, which stood 4 shirley temples pussy, lol can u imagine all of the controversy they would of garnered if they kept that name

songs that i can do w/out...Cinnamon, Interstate, Big Empty, and Between the Lines replaced with (and in order):Sex and Violence,Sour Girl (if that aint in the setlist),
First Kiss, Coma, Where the River Goes
ok Q and A for ya ;)
what would the perfect full-length concert be? (1 cover and 1 acoustic version included)
from beginning to end... Open with Dead & Bloated...cover of Man in the Box by AIC...Sour Girl...Wet My Bed+Crackerman (as one track)...Unglued acoustic...Wicked as an encore...Coma...Tumble..Creep...Plush...then an audience request..and finish off with Where the River Goes!
@NnysVelvetRevolver Wow..16 huh??...Well then I'm even more impressed b/c most kids your age don't even know who STP are, let alone become avid fans n listeners. I thought only us 90's brats new what the alternative era was...kudos kid.
I dig your setlist as well, along w/ your do w/out's...but I'm a lot greedier than you apparently...Here's what I expect from STP...
@NnysVelvetRevolver ...Open w/ Pop's Love Suicide, straight into Meatplow, band intro. Coma, Cackerman, Tumble in th Rough, Army Ants, Still Remains. Acoustic: 7 Caged Tigers, Pretty Penny, Atlanta, Cover: Loving the Alien / GRAVEDANCER ... Intermission Re-up w/ Wicked Garden, Pruno, Hollywood Bitch, Regeneration, Hazy Daze, Fast as I Can, Where the River Goes.
Encore: Big Bang baby, Piece of Pie, Trippin on a Hole...
@zorgono Tiny Music is amazing..."Adhesive" is the best ballad nobody has ever heard!...I once heard them play "Pop's Love Suicide" live, I was blown away!, and don't even get me started about "Seven Caged Tigers", "Tumble...", "BBB", "Art School...", and "Tumble in the Rough"!.... A wonderful, artistic effort....Good taste bro! (I wish they'd play "Pruno" from No.4 live just once as well!)
haha nah i didnt click thumb down i didnt even notice that before, jsut was informing you, no problem not knowing him but definatly listen to AIC itll face melt you, ill give you a thumb up
holy shit - yeah 90% like him. Got into AIC 4 months ago and STP just these past 2 weeks. Also - 'Dumb Love' off Shangree-laa whatever album sounds like Layne singing backing vocals. but it can't be. sounds a bit like 'hate to feel'.
Then you would proably think that plush sounds like pearl jam even though plush came out before pearl jam and STP has not heard a pearl jam album till this day...
Oh man gohyperstrike, Layne Staley was the lead singer for Alice In Chains, died of a speedball overdose in 2002, one of the best singers ever, go check out some Alice In Chains Vids right now

I'm sure eddy vedder writtain a song about how weiland sounds like or even trying to mimic Layne? its one of those hidden tracks can't remember which album...he also mentions the singer who sounds like himself.
name of the song is "4/20/02" and it's off the Lost Dogs album. it was a tribute to Layne Staley and a diss to those who try to mimic him (i.e. Godsmack), but didn't mention Scott at all.
Eddie Vedder is a jealous prick that couldn't hit half the notes Weiland can! Eddies just mad Weiland could replicate his voice but with better clarity.
awsome shits! i'm seeing them next week!! :D i'm so pumped!..Sarnia Bayfest lie up: The trews & Counting crows, Our Lady Peace & STP, Then KISS....its an awsome line up...if your in the area....shows are july 9-11..comE!!

I love this song so much I made a cover of it (which is my video response). I love the acoustic guitar on this live version, although Weiland's vocal is a bit shaky. I wish he would've done it on the last tour...
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love STP, but this track blows. This is just a popped-up crap track about one of Scott's junkie girlfriends. Nothing special at all.
What else does he have to talk about though? The guy is a bona fide junkie rock star. It isn't STP's best, but the song is still very cool. Most peoples' problem with STP's later material is that it doesn't resemble CORE. I love CORE, but that album, as good as it was, is nowhere near as creatively proficient as Purple, 4 or Sangri. Grungier, yes -- but not quite as inventive.
i'm all for the 'it's your opinion' thing...but c'mon, you gotta be realistic...i totally respect scott's move, and i totally respect the other bandmates of VR ...but STP were legends...they weer known all over the world...and quite frankly, i'm pretty sure R won't be legends...& they're def not known all over the globe lol...whatever...
badsarasota can u send me whatever ur smoking. STP Is So MUCH better than VR. STP has Countless Hits VR has 2. Weiland Is Nothing without Dean, Rob,and Eric. STP is By Far My Favorite band of all time, so Im not a Weiland Hater I think He Is a lyrical genius VR just dosent give Him the same platform STP did.
I've got to agree with folks who have opposed your comment. VR is awesome for sure, and I'm a HUGE Slash fan, but STP's talent far outshines VR's. STP is/was arguably the best band of the last 15 years or so -- yes, better than U2, better than Aerosmith, Pearl Jam (not that they should have ever been compared to PJ, 'cuz they KILL them), etc. Lyrically and instrumentally, STP is on a level that most bands -- past and present -- will never reach.
I'm kind of going to have to disagree with you, but just about the U2 comment. But I'm a HUGE U2 fan. Anyways, I'm going to ahev to say that you can't compare STP and VR. VR is definitely great at what they do, with hard rock, but I prefer STP and their feel. Compare the harder songs by STP to some of VR's stuff, and there is a distinct similarity (minus Slash vs. DeLeo). Anyways, lets not argue over it, just enjoy the videos.
actually, i heard he did...apparently, it was like, his dream to play for guns 'n roses, and then when they finaly asked him to join, he couldn't help but say yes...then afterwards, the other stp bandmates split up and went off to do their own thing
that's not how it happened. At the last show of the Shangri-La Dee Da tour in 2002, Dean and Scott got into a feud and STP split and went on another hiatus. In 2003, VR asked Weiland to front their band and he said yeah. But hopefully after Weiland's next solo album, he and the rest of STP will come to terms and reunite.

dude, velvet revolver stuck in the 80s... core and purple were a bunch of knockoff cds. tiny music is when thy became a band and devoloped their own music
That's not what he said, idiot. He means that Velvet Revolver's music sounds like '80s music. I agree with him on that (although I disagree with him about "Core" and "Purple").
Have you always had reading comprehension problems? Perhaps you should consider getting some help for that.
well there is some bad grammar in that sentence but yea i did realize he wasnt talkin about what i thought he was, hmm im not sure if VR is stuck in the 80's, dosent sound like it to me.
when was this concert held? because the MTV version of the song seems so Recent

A wonderful, artistic effort....Good taste bro! (I wish they'd play "Pruno" from No.4 live just once as well!)

Apoligies, you SHOULD know about layne - he was a god.

@Deltafoxhound
Layne is very great and all, but i must say, Scott surpasses him by far
(My opinion)
NnysVelvetRevolver 1 year ago
ok now i know who layne is. he looks a bit like scott, i agree with that. rockstars die young. i hope scott will live long.

keene858 2 years ago
holy shit - yeah 90% like him.

Aboertmann 2 years ago
I don't think that. Where in the hell did you get that from what I said. STP sounds totally different than Pearl Jam.
PearlJammer07 2 years ago
who is layne?
gohyperstrike 2 years ago
Oh man gohyperstrike, Layne Staley was the lead singer for Alice In Chains, died of a speedball overdose in 2002, one of the best singers ever, go check out some Alice In Chains Vids right now

oh, is it a sin not to know his name? were you the one who clicked the thumb dow button?

I'm sure eddy vedder writtain a song about how weiland sounds like or even trying to mimic Layne? its one of those hidden tracks can't remember which album...he also mentions the singer who sounds like himself.
Deltafoxhound 2 years ago
name of the song is "4/20/02" and it's off the Lost Dogs album. it was a tribute to Layne Staley and a diss to those who try to mimic him (i.e. Godsmack), but didn't mention Scott at all.
peopleofthesun2 2 years ago
Eddie Vedder is a jealous prick that couldn't hit half the notes Weiland can! Eddies just mad Weiland could replicate his voice but with better clarity.
BDuv1 2 years ago 5
Wow you really don't like dear Eddie! :p
Deltafoxhound 2 years ago
Vedder and Weiland are both good theres no better clarity they both have their own styles

I love this song so much I made a cover of it (which is my video response). I love the acoustic guitar on this live version, although Weiland's vocal is a bit shaky. I wish he would've done it on the last tour...

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love STP, but this track blows. This is just a popped-up crap track about one of Scott's junkie girlfriends. Nothing special at all.
JorshWarshington 3 years ago
Much like you. If you dont like it go listen to emo kid
vampyrhart 3 years ago
What else does he have to talk about though? The guy is a bona fide junkie rock star. It isn't STP's best, but the song is still very cool. Most peoples' problem with STP's later material is that it doesn't resemble CORE. I love CORE, but that album, as good as it was, is nowhere near as creatively proficient as Purple, 4 or Sangri. Grungier, yes -- but not quite as inventive.

i'm all for the 'it's your opinion' thing...but c'mon, you gotta be realistic...i totally respect scott's move, and i totally respect the other bandmates of VR ...but STP were legends...they weer known all over the world...and quite frankly, i'm pretty sure R won't be legends...& they're def not known all over the globe lol...whatever...

im sorryy guys but VR is wayy batter than stp.I hope that VR stays together and keeps doin records
badsarasota69 4 years ago
you are wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
bornatinha 4 years ago 2
badsarasota can u send me whatever ur smoking.

Lyrically and instrumentally, STP is on a level that most bands -- past and present -- will never reach.
grungeitup01 4 years ago 2
I'm kind of going to have to disagree with you, but just about the U2 comment. But I'm a HUGE U2 fan. Anyways, I'm going to ahev to say that you can't compare STP and VR. VR is definitely great at what they do, with hard rock, but I prefer STP and their feel. Compare the harder songs by STP to some of VR's stuff, and there is a distinct similarity (minus Slash vs. DeLeo). Anyways, lets not argue over it, just enjoy the videos.

Revolverpurple93 4 years ago
he didnt leave em for VR they broke up already but still STP are fuckin good
velvetjuzzy 4 years ago
actually, i heard he did...apparently, it was like, his dream to play for guns 'n roses, and then when they finaly asked him to join, he couldn't help but say yes...then afterwards, the other stp bandmates split up and went off to do their own thing
mentalitymentalist 4 years ago
that's not how it happened. At the last show of the Shangri-La Dee Da tour in 2002, Dean and Scott got into a feud and STP split and went on another hiatus. In 2003, VR asked Weiland to front their band and he said yeah. But hopefully after Weiland's next solo album, he and the rest of STP will come to terms and reunite.

dude, velvet revolver stuck in the 80s... core and purple were a bunch of knockoff cds. tiny music is when thy became a band and devoloped their own music
stpilots07 4 years ago
What!? Umm read the Video it says STP right at the top.....ur a dumbass, and STP wasnt even famous in the 80's.
Marineincident91 3 years ago
That's not what he said, idiot. He means that Velvet Revolver's music sounds like '80s music. I agree with him on that (although I disagree with him about "Core" and "Purple").
Have you always had reading comprehension problems? Perhaps you should consider getting some help for that.
crazymiles 3 years ago
well there is some bad grammar in that sentence but yea i did realize he wasnt talkin about what i thought he was, hmm im not sure if VR is stuck in the 80's, dosent sound like it to me.
