Now that I think of it, Dot looks and sort of sounds like Uran from the Astro Boy animes. NOT KIDDING! Uran and Dot both have the same hairstyle, they both wear pink, and they both know that they're too cute. I could see Uran singing Dot's I'm Cute song. LOL!

Unlike the French, the Japanese don't invent their own words for foreign things (with the exception of baseball), thus the song actually is mostly English, plus "pan" for "bread" which also is imported (just from Portuguese or French instead of from English).
Well, they do have some of these words. (for example, Mizoyu means water) It's just that some words would be too long to fit into the song... and other words like Party are loanwords. ^^

If the Western version of the item is significantly different from the native version, true. But any single item that is referred to by two words in English, they take as a single word. They wouldn't do "mizu glass" for example, just they wouldn't do "pan plate" (which would be mixing importations from two languages actually). This is how you get "bureddopureeto niwa pan" at the end, essentially "bread for the bread plate" but using "pan" for bread itself and "bureddopureeto" for bread plate.
If you follow the link in the description, you can listen to some audio clips from the Japanese dubs. I don't have video-capture capability so making clips is very difficult (with this one, I matched video I found online with the audio recorded separately).

Harder than it is today, since you couldn't just go online and download 'em like you can now; I had to get physical videotapes from fans around the world (well, just Japan and Italy -- and the Italian tapes needed to be converted to NTSC, which thankfully the Italian fan did for me). Other international recordings of the theme and other songs and bits of dialog were all short WAV files that people sent to me back in the day.
I do have that episode in Japanese. I don't have VCR-to-PC video capture capability, but I could do what I did for this, and take a video someone else had uploaded (or capture from DVD), then splice the audio in, for a few tracks. If you follow the link in the description, you will at least hear a couple of audio clips from King Yakko in Japanese.

And now today's children shows are just ... how should i put this... either only focus on explosion or focus on beetting the living hell out of everyone else (it is just to much now - not like the old batman and transformers) <dont get me started on the new transformers or anyother old show they tried to bring back and have ruined>
@sand4839 Not just 3D vs 2D, but digital 2D animation vs hand-drawn. The transition to digital was easy on the eyes, but going back and watching the hand-drawn Animaniacs episodes when the first DVDs came out was a bit of a jolt (likewise seeing early Powerpuff Girls after years of the later digital ones). It really screamed "you're looking at photos of drawings" which a digital production doesn't do. We'll see how the new Looney Tunes series will look in action pretty soon...
@Keeper1st my favorites to compare are Jungledyret Hugo (1,2,&3)
(14 years between the first and last) the first was handdrawn, the second was computer drawn but still captured the soul of the first moive and in some ways improved, (one horrobly drawn tv series later) the 3rd came out in computer generation - i wanted to vomit at how bad everyone and everything looked. (and they were Dubbed by 4Kids so u know how that goes:< - i do suggest subbed )
The actor, Ryuusei Nakao, has been in many shows. Do a search on his name and you'll find lists (there's one on Wikipedia even) where you'll probably discover some you recognize.
I wanted to b in shock that you could tell, but Ryusei Naoko has a very distinct voice to where you can tell that's Frieza or Mayuri Kurotsuchi's voice no matter what character he plays. :p
Huh...Yakko's voice sounds too gritty, not fast enough, which is weird because in this eppy, he actually spoke Japanese (in the english version) and it suited him well. Why couldn't that guy do his Japanese voice?
Dot's voice doesn't have that "edge" (though it's terribly cute!) and Wakko...well, he almost never talks, so I can't tell. :P I would think it's hard to do a Scouse in Japanese, hm?

Heh, Rob's Japanese pronunciation was pretty darn awful in this episode. Ain't no way he'd've been able to act in Japanese. If you follow the link in the description, you can hear some speaking examples, so you can better hear what the Japanese actors sounded like.
No the voice you're hearing from Yakko is a seiyuu(Voice Actor) named Ryusei Nakao...If you're into watching anime in its original form, he's done the voices of Freeza from Dragon Ball Z, Mayuri Kurotsuchi from Bleach among other voiceovers... And I have to admit it's kind of funny hearing Yakko sound a tiny bit like Frieza or Mayuri...

Cartoons today are pure crap. D: I miss the good ol' days when cartoons were educational, witty, and just pure AWESOME. Good thing they're on YouTube (And, as Keeper mentioned, on DVD! Hopefully they'll get the 4th and 5th seasons sometime soon...Not probable, but hey, a girl can dream, can't she?
Oh, I don't blame you.. I've had the misfortune of watching shows like Chowder/Flapjack, and the newest show League Of Super Evil just to give them the benefit of the doubt that they're funnier than they appear since some viewers like them, but Nah... Good premises, but poor execution. Either that or we don't share the same sense of humor as the writers.
There's a lot of people who feel the same way as us...I'd say that the writers today just don't HAVE a sense of humor. I miss Animaniacs, but I actually think it's better that it ended when it did...We're experiencing a recession not only in money, but in humor, also. If it was on today, I'm afraid it would be just like the rest of cartoons...I mean, look what happened to The Simpsons. I WAS a fan...but these new episodes are just painful to watch now. D:
I don't watch the Simpsons after the Movie, so I wouldn't know. No wonder you agreed with what I said about how this recession seems to effecting the entertainment industry. Also I learned in looking up Animaniacs that some of their jokes were mature in nature, which with the FCC the way it is is why we don't see it anymore... In fact from what I've learned the FC is responsible for the lack of airing of alot of 90s cartoons because of that reason.
Ugh, the Simpsons is awful now. I'm glad you don't watch it. The last one made me cry out of boredom. The only reason it's still running is because the network wants to secure it as the longest running T.V. show, and of course, as long as it's long and boring, who cares about quality?
And about Animaniacs: Most of the jokes (such as the "uranus" one) fly right over kids' heads (my mom didn't even get it) so I don't think they should make a big deal out of it.
Oh yeah... And I think that's the point alot of people who gripe about how we 90's kids should get over the loss we've suffered. They fail to notice the mediocrity that has consumed the entertainment realm. Which is kind of sad. And plus they always make a big deal out of all the smallest things, if you hadn't noticed with how Videogames are being blamed for the chaos in today's world.
There's a lot of people like us who want good entertainment back...maybe we should start a petition or something.
Blaming everything seems to be a trend; even books were blamed for chaos not too long ago. Then it was T.V., and now, videogames?! Geez, people need to start taking responsibility for their own actions, not blaming them on every popular item.
Oh but it's so easy to blame actions or circumstances on stuff like music, videogames, or Television because as you said it takes the guilt out of it. Also Some would argue that the 90s cartoons would attract an older audience, and while that may be true, why does it seem like today's cartoon writers don't seek to surpass Bob Clampett, Steven Speilberg, or Chuck Jones with more original gags? It seems they're content with the mediocre and cliche.
*sigh* Cartoon writers today aren't even trying. They're in it for the money, not to make us laugh. Animaniacs is that kind of gem that is funny from every angle. If any joke in today's cartoons is even remotely funny, they use it to death. Animaniacs never used the same joke twice. I feel so bad for those who were born in the 21st century, they never grew up with real humor like us 90's and 80's kids did. :(
Animaniacs did use the same jokes twice. In one of the last episodes, the short "Anchors A-Warners" was painful to watch. It was all horrible rehashes of jokes from earlier episodes. It was like watching a bad fanfic.
Please don't blame the writers for the lack of shows like this today. The industry bosses just aren't interested in them. John P. McCann has said that he can't get hired to write for cartoons today because he has no sitcom experience. Never mind his Emmy awards for Animaniacs...
Another former writer walked out of a pitch meeting at a major studio recently because the studio bosses were wanting to take the idea into a different direction and not grant creative control. There are "too many chefs in the kitchen". Animaniacs etc. had a small number of dedicated folks who were granted a lot of freedom (big thanks go to retired WBA boss Jean MacCurdy for that). It doesn't happen today. "Executive in Charge of Story Development" = "Corporate Lackey Who Vets All the Scripts."
And the sad thing is some people are satisfied with the mediocrity. But then again we don't share the sense of humor of the writers of todays toons. Also as you said in my vid "Cartoon Rant" Today's kids can't tell the difference between good, and bad humor therefore today's cartoons are okay, but seen fairly easy to surpass, and that's quite sad. I understand Chuck Jone Bob Clampett, and Speilberg were geniuses, but there has to be at least one writer who can top them!
No, he says "Kotoba zukai mou shikari chuui," I think, which would mean something like, "Once more, pay attention to this language chart."
So you're hearing the "i" of "zukai" and the "mo" of "mou", thus "imo". There's a break between the letters "ka" and "i" because that's the rhythm of the song (common in Japanese singing).
Or the words around the syllables are something else and he's using "imo", a type of potato which is used as an insult for uneducated country folk.
Oh, it is on-going. Visits to the Japanese Disney Channel and Cartoon Network sites show that. I loved how the writing on the logo for "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends" in Japanese was made to closely resemble the English text.
Yeah. One of these days, I'll get round to posting examples of the characters speaking, from Animaniacs and Tiny Toon episodes I have in Japanese. Even the Goodfeathers seem to speak Japanese with an Italian accent -- Pesto rolling his R's. You can hear the audio clips I made about 10 or 12 years ago by following the link posted in this video description.
Oh don't you worry; the Japanese have their own complicated dining etiquette -- ways to use chopsticks, different chopsticks for different things, proper ways to set down chopsticks ... it goes on and on. This is without mentioning the physical motions and the ritual words spoken.

Same thing basically -- only instead of being foreign, they're simply investors from Tokyo. Yakko's line is similar to the one in America where he speaks Japanese, but first he says he loves Tokyo. "Toukyou-wa daisuki desu. Omoshiroi tokoro desu ne." (If I remember it right.) Unfortunately, I don't have the "punchline" from the Japanese version, but I imagine it was probably the same overcrowding joke.

The actor, Ryuusei Nakao, has been in many shows. Do a search on his name and you'll find lists (there's one on Wikipedia even) where you'll probably discover some you recognize.

I wanted to b in shock that you could tell, but Ryusei Naoko has a very distinct voice to where you can tell that's Frieza or Mayuri Kurotsuchi's voice no matter what character he plays. :p

Huh...Yakko's voice sounds too gritty, not fast enough, which is weird because in this eppy, he actually spoke Japanese (in the english version) and it suited him well. Why couldn't that guy do his Japanese voice?
Dot's voice doesn't have that "edge" (though it's terribly cute!) and Wakko...well, he almost never talks, so I can't tell. :P I would think it's hard to do a Scouse in Japanese, hm?
But I digress. Thanks for posting, Keeper! It was pretty neat to see the Warners in many languages!

Heh, Rob's Japanese pronunciation was pretty darn awful in this episode. Ain't no way he'd've been able to act in Japanese. If you follow the link in the description, you can hear some speaking examples, so you can better hear what the Japanese actors sounded like.

No the voice you're hearing from Yakko is a seiyuu(Voice Actor) named Ryusei Nakao...If you're into watching anime in its original form, he's done the voices of Freeza from Dragon Ball Z, Mayuri Kurotsuchi from Bleach among other voiceovers... And I have to admit it's kind of funny hearing Yakko sound a tiny bit like Frieza or Mayuri...

Oh of course... I came to find alot of cartoons I hadn't seen in years are posted on youtube... So yeah I found and didn't know that this scene was part of that episode until today. Oh the memories I can't believe they don't make cartoons like this anymore. :,(

Cartoons today are pure crap. D: I miss the good ol' days when cartoons were educational, witty, and just pure AWESOME. Good thing they're on YouTube (And, as Keeper mentioned, on DVD! Hopefully they'll get the 4th and 5th seasons sometime soon...Not probable, but hey, a girl can dream, can't she?

Oh, I don't blame you.. I've had the misfortune of watching shows like Chowder/Flapjack, and the newest show League Of Super Evil just to give them the benefit of the doubt that they're funnier than they appear since some viewers like them, but Nah... Good premises, but poor execution. Either that or we don't share the same sense of humor as the writers.

There's a lot of people who feel the same way as us...I'd say that the writers today just don't HAVE a sense of humor. I miss Animaniacs, but I actually think it's better that it ended when it did...We're experiencing a recession not only in money, but in humor, also. If it was on today, I'm afraid it would be just like the rest of cartoons...I mean, look what happened to The Simpsons. I WAS a fan...but these new episodes are just painful to watch now. D:

I don't watch the Simpsons after the Movie, so I wouldn't know. No wonder you agreed with what I said about how this recession seems to effecting the entertainment industry. Also I learned in looking up Animaniacs that some of their jokes were mature in nature, which with the FCC the way it is is why we don't see it anymore... In fact from what I've learned the FC is responsible for the lack of airing of alot of 90s cartoons because of that reason.

Ugh, the Simpsons is awful now. I'm glad you don't watch it. The last one made me cry out of boredom. The only reason it's still running is because the network wants to secure it as the longest running T.V. show, and of course, as long as it's long and boring, who cares about quality?
And about Animaniacs: Most of the jokes (such as the "uranus" one) fly right over kids' heads (my mom didn't even get it) so I don't think they should make a big deal out of it.

Oh yeah... And I think that's the point alot of people who gripe about how we 90's kids should get over the loss we've suffered. They fail to notice the mediocrity that has consumed the entertainment realm. Which is kind of sad. And plus they always make a big deal out of all the smallest things, if you hadn't noticed with how Videogames are being blamed for the chaos in today's world.

Blaming everything seems to be a trend; even books were blamed for chaos not too long ago. Then it was T.V., and now, videogames?! Geez, people need to start taking responsibility for their own actions, not blaming them on every popular item.

Oh but it's so easy to blame actions or circumstances on stuff like music, videogames, or Television because as you said it takes the guilt out of it. Also Some would argue that the 90s cartoons would attract an older audience, and while that may be true, why does it seem like today's cartoon writers don't seek to surpass Bob Clampett, Steven Speilberg, or Chuck Jones with more original gags? It seems they're content with the mediocre and cliche.

*sigh* Cartoon writers today aren't even trying. They're in it for the money, not to make us laugh. Animaniacs is that kind of gem that is funny from every angle. If any joke in today's cartoons is even remotely funny, they use it to death. Animaniacs never used the same joke twice. I feel so bad for those who were born in the 21st century, they never grew up with real humor like us 90's and 80's kids did. :(

Animaniacs did use the same jokes twice. In one of the last episodes, the short "Anchors A-Warners" was painful to watch. It was all horrible rehashes of jokes from earlier episodes. It was like watching a bad fanfic.
Please don't blame the writers for the lack of shows like this today. The industry bosses just aren't interested in them. John P. McCann has said that he can't get hired to write for cartoons today because he has no sitcom experience. Never mind his Emmy awards for Animaniacs...

Another former writer walked out of a pitch meeting at a major studio recently because the studio bosses were wanting to take the idea into a different direction and not grant creative control. There are "too many chefs in the kitchen". Animaniacs etc. had a small number of dedicated folks who were granted a lot of freedom (big thanks go to retired WBA boss Jean MacCurdy for that). It doesn't happen today. "Executive in Charge of Story Development" = "Corporate Lackey Who Vets All the Scripts."

And the sad thing is some people are satisfied with the mediocrity. But then again we don't share the sense of humor of the writers of todays toons. Also as you said in my vid "Cartoon Rant" Today's kids can't tell the difference between good, and bad humor therefore today's cartoons are okay, but seen fairly easy to surpass, and that's quite sad. I understand Chuck Jone Bob Clampett, and Speilberg were geniuses, but there has to be at least one writer who can top them!

No, he says "Kotoba zukai mou shikari chuui," I think, which would mean something like, "Once more, pay attention to this language chart."
So you're hearing the "i" of "zukai" and the "mo" of "mou", thus "imo". There's a break between the letters "ka" and "i" because that's the rhythm of the song (common in Japanese singing).
Or the words around the syllables are something else and he's using "imo", a type of potato which is used as an insult for uneducated country folk.

Oh, it is on-going. Visits to the Japanese Disney Channel and Cartoon Network sites show that. I loved how the writing on the logo for "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends" in Japanese was made to closely resemble the English text.

Yeah. One of these days, I'll get round to posting examples of the characters speaking, from Animaniacs and Tiny Toon episodes I have in Japanese. Even the Goodfeathers seem to speak Japanese with an Italian accent -- Pesto rolling his R's. I honestly don't think the Japenese vocal actor for Yakko sounds much like the American actor at all, contrary to some other folk here however. His voice is harsher, grittier.

Same thing basically -- only instead of being foreign, they're simply investors from Tokyo. Yakko's line is similar to the one in America where he speaks Japanese, but first he says he loves Tokyo. "Toukyou-wa daisuki desu. Omoshiroi tokoro desu ne." (If I remember it right.) Unfortunately, I don't have the "punchline" from the Japanese version, but I imagine it was probably the same overcrowding joke.
