the slitting cutter is for cutting thin strips and/or small stock. for example cutting veneers for marquetry or separating a small machined molding from larger stock after machining. the depth stop is helpful, but if it's missing you could probably still make the splitting cutter work. very handy for model work. :)

what does the splitting cutter do? does it need the depth stop?
