Actually, you can get more horsepower with less money with the EVO than the STI. Mod for mod, EVO has more potential. And as far as reliability is concerned, I've owned my VIII for awhile now and have been known to beat on it regularly, yet not a thing has gone wrong. Now at 51k miles.

@bonzie1645 yes, they can, they have a far superior awd system verses the evo. dont get me wrong i like both, but the suby is much more reliable in the long run, and capable of much more with a little tuning.

the reason i'd have to pick the evo over the sti...and I DO own one....is the fact that with the evo all it takes is a flick of the wheel into the corner to get the back end out and with the STI you just....just can't as easily and the understeer is more uncomfortable when driving hard on country roads...for me anyway

theres no right or wrong car to choose out of these two. there both capable of over 150mph, both 0-60mph in under 5 secondsish, both extreamly agressive, both Brilliant. they are the middle working class mans super car. they are amazingly good. 5 doors, big boot, awd, great sound, turbocharged, reliable. what more can you want?

@Misfortune1337 i couldnt agree anymore with you, sound way better, one of my top 10 favorite sounding cars, soo beefy, and deffo has a nicer interior, although they are more common than a evo, but a subaru on average would cost a tiny bit less, i would pick the scooby

Anyone notice that in some versions of this video, Moby's "God Moving over the face of the water" is used at about 5:05, and in this its different. What is up w/ that? I've noticed it in other videos as well. FOr instance in the test of the M3, RS4 and C63, Sigur Ros' track Saeglopur is used in one v of the video, and in others a different track.

The difference between these two cars is just who do you think it has better looking than the other? All people have diferent tastes, so if you think Subaru Impreza is better looking then you will choose it, however if you prefer Evo VIII styling you will go for it. And for me I like Evo VIII the most, but that doesn't mean I don't like the Subaru, in fact I like it a lot, but I like the EVO more than the Subaru.

This Subaru Impreza looks great and badass at the same time, but then i look at the brand new Subaru Impreza and ask myself WHAT THE FUCK were they thinking when they designed it??? I finally have enough money to buy a brand new one, but i simply can't get over the way it looks!!! It looks HORRIBLE and i don't want to be seen in such an ugly vehicle!!! :-(

@2003vwgti1 You're absolutely right. New model is ugly. Might I suggest the next best thing, buying a second hand 2006 WRX STI S204 limited edition... these are NICE. Alot of the parts are carbon fibre and they are VERY fast and handle ridiculously well.

These two cars are pretty much the same. I don't know why but I have always liked the STi more and that's why I bought one, and 4 years later I'm not regretting my purchase. As for the speed we have to remember that when Subaru brought the STi over to the U.S. they upped the horsepower by 39hp and the torque by 47 lb-ft. where as the EVO stayed the same...so this video doesn't do the USDM STi justice, but like I said both are pretty much the same and both are great cars...personal preference.

A few years ago I preferred the EVO 9, then I found the Sub more attractive. Now I'm back into loving the EVO. Such a hard decision.
