Dave owes everything to Kurt, without Nirvana Dave would just be some washed up old Drummer who played in Scream in the 80's. Dave has every reason to dedicate a song to Kurt, and he has the moral fortitude to do so. They were bros, and a bond like that doesn't just go away when somebody dies. Dave is definitely heartbroken after Kurt died, and I believe he still misses him. But it doesn't mean he will write every song about Kurt.
