@dudepower100 actually it's a soprano trombone that's often called a slide trumpet but all trombones are just lower versions of the trumpet with slides
haha what do you mean by "professional size?" First off I agree after only 3 years thats indeed a bad idea. And I only have 6 years of experience and I'm perty sure my f-attachment Bach 42 is the same size as any "professional trombone"
There is no such thing as "professional size" is what I'm implying. The size is dependent upon your style of music or certain preferences. For instance, most professional jazz trombonists will play on a small bore straight tenor trombone.
That's true, good point. I think for a student with 3 years experience a smaller trombone would be more appropriate than a Bach 42 or anything with a substantial bore. However, a large shank mouthpiece (and receiver) can be much easier to play on than what is used with typical student trombones. I am a trumpet player, I am just saying what I have observed and tried out myself. Not really comparable with trumpet, though XD I can't pull out my lead pipe (on my traditional piston trumpet at least).
haha thats cool. Well being a trombone player, I would have to disagree. After 3 years, if your still practicing and enthusiastic about learning the trombone, I say go for it. Upgrade. What really matters is your size and lung capacity. If your in middle school, a bach large bore would not be a wise choice. Student horns are designed and smaller so that it requires less air to produce a good sound.
in most cases, yes smaller horns are better in middle school, but in some cases (like mine) i was overblowing my holton peashooter that i played only for 6th grade, then i got a holton tr169 used before 7th grade.
yeah, i switched from a small bore without an F to a large bore with an F during 8th grade summer and i couldnt be happier because now i'm going to pick up soprano trombone and i'm hoping it wont take long for me to start screaming (hopefully)
I love the sound of this horn. My buddy purchased a slide trumpet the other day and it sounds dead on like a trumpet, but looks dead on like a trombone that is the length of your forearm.
He is able to trill in 3rd because he makes use of the technique known as lip trilling. Essentially he uses his air and his embouchure placement to achieve the trill desired
You know you are fluttering correctly if it sounds like a race car when plyaing the low register. If I didn't do a good enough job you are free to use google.
Nope. Flutter tonguing is done on 1 note by (obviously) fluttering the tongue while buzzing whereas lip trilling is sluring between the harmonics really quick to get a trill.
I love trombones especially the bass and soprano.

acw1227 3 years ago
how do u do the trill at 3
TboneWertman 3 years ago
Flutter tongue is asume.
fatpoop619 3 years ago
what r u talking about
TboneWertman 3 years ago
Well either that or incredibly fast trple tongueing. I can't explain either very well but I'll try.
Single tonguing is normal tonguing as in starting and toping notes with the sylables Tah-Tah-Tah etc...
Double is starting and stoping notes like [Tuh-Kuh(the double pattern]-[Tuh-Kuh]-[Tuh-Kuh] etc...
Triple is [Tuh-Kuh-Tah]-[Tuh-Kuh-Tah]-[Tuh-Kah-Tah] etc...
Flutter is like how one would say R with a spanish accent as in RRRRR. Imagine a lion going RAWR!
fatpoop619 3 years ago
