  • Y que tal está canción en la película THE CROW con NIN, me encanta esa pelí y todo el drama del amor etc etc, q mala la onda q se muriera Brandon Lee =(...

  • In my humble opinion Control was well done based upon the actual footage i have seen of them live. i was so anticipating their american gigs; guess i am dating myself. R.I.P.

  • This is so rad.

  • does anyone else think that the low quality of all these videos of joy division somehow enhances the atmosphere of the video footage? particularly the motion blur and distorted audio here.

  • And mocking voices ring the hall

    Imperialistic house of prayer

    Conquistadors who took their share

  • Ian's suicide also took place the same day Mt. St. Helens exploded. The rational part of me dismisses any connection, but.....

  • When did he had epilepsy? Right around the late 70s? or a bit earlier?

  • @kc768 i think he was diagnosed with it in january 1979.

  • his epilepsey dance was what made his immage.. They wouldnt be joy division without the epilepsey dance.. thats why he danced like that.. it was moddeled after his battles with epilepsey.. Instead of loosing control to a disorder.. loose controll to the music.. its sad america never got to see Joy Division.. they were scheduled to tour may 19th.. He killed himself on my birthday may 18th.. except i wouldnt be born for 10 years after his death..he killed himself the day before the tour began...

  • JD's music is spine chilling and in a way uplifting despite the dark/grime/heavy tone....it's like a drug...can't function w/o it!!

  • keep on caling meeee

  • THEY KEEP CALLING MEEEEEEE

  • What a dark gem.

  • esto es exelente ian esta poseido por un espiritu ..es la musica yo tambien puedo sentirla esto es irresistible y unico por favor no mencionen a interpol y the killers se los ruego

  • Thank you.

  • fantastic footage!

  • What a Tripper!

  • Ian was rare in rock music because as well as a singer he was a Natural Choreographer unlike most singers in other bands who are lost when the Soloists play their instruments that are also props or alibi's for stage presence ..Joy Division were a seriously danceable Band and a Joy Division Gig for devotees could easily be a celebratory exercise and not some mere rock'n'roll show,Great show though it was...Not to mention his great lyrics or the Other powerful and original instrumentalists.

  • great man great band and great susperia thumbnail post punk haha

  • i'm a believer..joy division.. fucking halleluja

  • it's sad how miserable a person has to be in order to make such beautiful and honest music. I've only been listening to the group for like 2 months now and I think they already are one of my favorites, easily.

  • im a new comer to joy division too, if u like them i recommend interpol and the editors two bands that sound a lot like them but are new so can see live.

  • If you like Interpol - I do too - you NEED to listen The Chameleons!

  • the chameleons are awesome. Pandora plays them alot when i'm on my kruder and dorfmeister station

  • I'll check them out. Thanks too. Love Interpol!!!

  • Indeed. The Chameleons were not successful here in the US for some unknown reason, but they were true innovators. Perhaps they played the art rock card a bit too openly.

  • stunning

  • "Ian Curtis was the greatest performer of all time" Thats the only thing Bono has ever said that I agree with..

  • @augustusdes

    You spoke with my lips.

  • the dance of rape and honey

  • doesn't sound very fun.

  • he had epilepsy

  • yes I know, it was more of a rhetorical question.

  • epilepsy was his diagnosis

  • Ian really gave it his all in every song that he sang! He was amazing!

  • wow. this is amazing. thank u so much for capturing this on film. something really special here.

  • Very autistic movements - quite disturbing to watch really.

  • he suffered from adult onset epilepsy (and the side effects of a cocktail of prescribed drugs to counter it)

  • ian curtis = janis,jimi,kurt,jim morrison

  • audio sync is bad... anyway its good to have such a record...

  • this was videotaped by Richard Boon on an early model VHS portapak camera at the Manchester Apollo on Oct. 27 1979.

Notice that Curtis stays in the dark a lot due to his sensitivity to light that could trigger his epileptic seizures.

  • great post.

  • Yeah, you can notice that he was really into the music.

  • That was shockingly great.

Ian was like a performance artist.

He moved really strangely like a puppet or a robot.

Whoever filmed this has really captured something special.

  • ... a puppet, a robot... a psychotic, an autist, but nothing else than a legend! Who else could live in his brain, hanging around.
