Newton Gingrich and Karl Rove have both cited Mao in the past as being inspirational. I'm not exactly a fan of Mao and I'm sure neither of these guys where either, but that doesn't diminish Mao's wisdom either. Someone mentioned that Fox either completely misquotes, or quotes them in a very misleading context all the time.
The two false quotes did not make or break this deal. 95% of Americans knew they were false. People rejected Rush for the REAL stuff he said.
And perhaps some of it was presented in a misleading context. Thing is, Fox News has been doing that for YEARS. Have they not? Rush himself has been doing it for years. How is this any different?

Back then Southern Democtats were the biggest racists. Lincoln was a Republican and not popular in the South. It was mosty Northern Democrat liberals who pushed for civil rights reforms. That might be why it flipped and Southern Democrats became Republicans.
Someone with Indian ancestry told me that in the early in the 1900's a lot of Indians joined the Republican Party because it was the Party of Lincoln. But they soon were made to feel unwelcome. So they changed to Democrat.

the two quotes that were really offensive have been proven false, though no formal retractions have been issued by CNN, MSNBC, or the other media outlets that attributed the false quote to Rush. Meanwhile, another White House appointee has been caught on video lavishing praise on Chairman Mao, and the major media will not show the clip.

Newton Gingrich and Karl Rove have both cited Mao in the past as being inspirational. I'm not exactly a fan of Mao and I'm sure neither of these guys where either, but that doesn't diminish Mao's wisdom either. Napoleon, Gingrich, Muhammad, Charlemagne, and even our own Andrew Jackson have done horrible things, but they are often quoted and studied. This doesn't necessarily mean that people like or agree with them, but it doesn't diminish their impact.

I'm not an advocate for Obama and I take issue with a lot of his polices, but I do think the majority of the criticism thrown at is way over the top. Saying he hasn't met the qualifications for office is absurd, as long as you're 35 or older and have been born in this country you qualify. It's up to the American people to decide if you deserve the job, and they voted him in.

Hitler should be judged by all his actions. The suppression of opposition as well as the Nazi's courting of those in the German Communist party. Whoever created that site should be locked up for crimes against good taste and common sense, and the people who commissioned it need to be punched in the face, just on basic principle. The difference between the right to benefit from something and the right to control it. In a socialist economy the means of production are directed by the public sector, but profit still goes to the organizations who can meet the directions. So, for example during WWII and WWI the U.S. war economies was completely centrally-run, yet the public did not own the corporations. The strong growth during this time also proves that capitalism is not synonomous with a well functioning economy.

During WWI&II the state became more inr´tegrated in the economy than had previously been the case, However this does not change the fact that Socialist means a full state control of the economy. Hmm. You just agreed to an example that disproved your broad claim, yet went on to assert the broad claim anyway. Merely capitalizing the word socialism does not mean you get to define it yourself outside of reality. You are defining socialism as that which has failed, and then categorizing historical and conceptual phenomena according to the criterion of failure/success instead of actual definitions. Would you then say that the social market economies (AKA market socialist) failed?

In fact, I would assert the oposite: no capitalist economy has every succeeded. The only two examples that I can think of where Adam Smith's principles have been applied is 1920s in the U.S. and in Chile from 1973-1998. Both situations brought monumental economic disasters and great human suffering.
