Illustrator (all versions) is a soon-dead software. If you think you’re ever going to make a dime (after spending years becoming half-skilled in the decades-old technology) creating cartoony crap, you’re sadly mistaken. Yet, if you enjoy creating femmy, pastel “works of art” that clearly are best suited for Mothers’ day cards, this is the software for you, especially, if you enjoy picking up cans by the side of the road to augment the pennies-per-year income you’ll eventually garner. @Hannah123Graphics close the little widget that opens up with the cube in it and that will turn off the perspective grid.

@StfuNoobx You can actually use both mediums if you scan your drawing and trace over it. I deliberatley took both courses in pencil and CG. It's a lot to learn software then a new version comes after you just finished learning it.

Well- I need to learn this, and though I'm not a huge fane of the kind of art CS5 excells at, you have managed to inspire me.

I'm a Photoshop guy, but in my job I get A LOT of Illusrator docs to work with- so I need to be able to work with, and sometimes tweak them.

@lolocoks Zoom in to the area you want to be a "View" then go up to the View menu and choose New View. Name it and you will see that view in the View menu. Any time you want to zoom in on that spot again just go choose the View you made.
