  • Isnt the actor who plays Yeesha the same actor that plays Teddy in Good Luck Charlie?

  • the ubisoft intro is so epic sounding!!!!!!

  • i havnt played myst, riven or exile in years...havnt been able to find a way to play them on my newest computer..and im not sure if myst 4/5 would work on my computer so i havnt gotten them yet..but im glad i found your lets plays so i can watch these games again and see the ones i havnt played..you seem like a smart dood and yours are the only LP's ive been able to listen to

  • 04:30 for the best part of this video thumbs up so everyone can see.

  • HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO OPEN A DOOR???

  • Every game in this series after Riven tried so hard to be EPIC, and it's off putting to me. :( Riven and Myst were cool because they were so understated. Maybe it's just a 'you had to be there when the games came out' kinda thing, but those 2 games are unparalleled to me.

No disrespect to fans of the the later games.

  • I wish I still got Windows Xp or 2000 on my computer so I can play Myst games!! Argh!!

  • This is my faveroute game in the myst series

  • Are there any other adventure games like this that are not realtime 3d like Myst5?

  • Hello. I'm a huge fan of Myst and I was wondering if you could help me with a hopefully, simple request: I'm a Mac user (intel one year old Macbook, 10.6.8) and I installed Revelations and End of Ages once... I don't remember how to do it anymore. Any help? Can't install it from DVD... thanks for any help.

  • i really wanna play this game. just got done with uru and i loved ever minute of it!

  • Atrus' house is truly amazing, with its many buildings suspended over the lake, and its own dam with a power supply, and not to mention the monorail.

Makes you wonder how he's hiding it all from the eyes of humans, who would probably love to come sample his advanced technology. It's not like his house is in some uninhabited backwater, it's in the middle of the 1820's New Mexico, and people live there, and a Steampunk monorail wasn't exactly a common sight anywhere at that time.

  • How do you turn on those subtitles??????? I have never been able to do it!

  • I soo want this game but no one has it anymore. Amazon has the collectors version for !!80.00!! but i cant get any stores to order it. Ubisoft does not have it up on their page anymore. What to do.

  • @MsPopeye1977 There are numerous used copies on Amazon.com for as low as $10. That seems to be a reasonable method. Otherwise, check something like eBay.

  • @MsPopeye1977 piratebay XD

  • @MsPopeye1977 You could probably contact Cyan and ask them.

  • @MsPopeye1977 try steam! its on there!

  • Damn it! that thing can outrun my honda

  • I was wondering where is the controls? - for the vehicle. . when looking at the vehicle at 7:30 (youtube time frame)

  • I find it interesting how Yeesha loves the new "image recorder" technology when they've had 3D video imagers 20 years earlier.

  • "This part's really reaaly cool". Sorry to be hyperanalyzing here, but I don't believe "cool" was used until at least the mid 20th century. PLOTHOLE

  • I love Myst IV. Of all the games in the series, I think it's the most beautiful. I would love to visit Haven. But I hate dealing with that monkey-creature call at the end of the age, and pretty much all of Serenia. I'm pleased to see you took the time to run us through without having to deal with that, and I'm even more pleased to hear how knowledgeable you are on the series! Any chance to learn more about Myst is fine by me!

  • You could read the phone book to me. Just sayin'.

  • Welcome back to Myst, were you walk around with your and in front of your face all the time.

  • @ilikemario8

It depends on how you play through Myst 3. You can imprison him or let him free. Sirrus and Achenar had destroyed Saavedro's world and he believes his family were killed. He seeks revenge, not knowing that Atrus has already punished Sirrus and Acehnar. In Myst 3, you can choose to imprison him or let Saavedro return to his people and family.

  • That's a weird-looking hand icon.

  • i've never played 5 or uru, but myst 4 definetely has way harder puzzles than riven or myst imo.

  • Unlike the previous 2 Myst sequels, this one definitely suffers from the curse of the sequel.

  • If you haven't noticed yet, the actor that plays Atrus through out the myst series is the same one that plays achenar =) and he is also one of the creators of myst.

  • @tekhiun Rand Miller only portrayed Achenar in Myst. In Myst IV both the roles of the brothers were given to different actors, neither of whom were actually related to each other (unlike the case with Robyn and Rand in Myst, sadly). I still wish Robyn had come back to the Sirrus role for this game but he'd long since parted ways with Cyan at that point.

  • this game is google street view's father.

  • @ilikemario8 really? where?

  • @ilikemario8 The last time Gehn saw Atrus was when Atrus trapped him on Riven, before Sirrus and Achenar were born. The only way he could know about them is if Catherine told him about them after he captured her, which I doubt she would do.

  • The happiest gaming days of my life were our families playing Riven in our pajamas for 3 days straight. We couldn't stop. We ordered pizzas, took turns and basically gamed like our lives depended on it. I bought Myst IV years ago, and haven't cracked the box yet, I can tell you why but there's a myst-ery I think endures better in my imagination with an untold ending I never want to end.

  • This game is immensely beautiful. The graphics are even better than Crytek, in my opinion. The gameplay is wonderful. Too bad the story is so poor.

  • betwen you and shadyparadox, these are some of my favorite LPs ever.

  • Do I have to play the previous myst games in order to enjoy this one (like storyline, universe, etc.)?

  • @falloutshit I definitely helps. At least you should be familiar with the original Myst.

  • I recently bought this game off ebay for a good price and well, its the Xbox version. Let me ask, are the controls really that clunky and unappealing? I played Myst 3 on the PS2 and I know the controls shouldn't be any different....anybody have second opinions on reviews I probably read lately?

  • I'm kinda sad that Myst V is the last game. All the good games are gone.

  • Did the slang word "cool" exist when this game is bassed?

  • @sd9800 no shit, eh? I think they filmed the people in real life and just added them in the game... haha.

  • What programs did they use to make this game, if you know?

You Know a lot about this game :)

  • Why did they pull this game off the shelves?? I hardly see it anymore which is a shame-it is a great series

  • @TheManAnswer I saw MYST IV and V at Best Buy a while back, but it's not there anymore,

  • 8:13 Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if Atrus and the Stranger keep in touch via video-conferencing. D'ni technology certainly seems to have developed electricity and holographic projection.

  • The opening scenes from Tomahna are idyllic. This would be a wonderful place to call home!

  • I have the hardest time hearing/understanding the dialog in Myst games. The background music is too loud and there's too much ambience voice itself. Thank goodness for subtitles.

  • almost every part of this game could be in a movie

  • A lot of things in this game a person can see being in a movie

  • wow, you know a lot about your games!!!

the myst games are so beautifull, dont you agree. Thankyou for uploading these amaizing walkthroughs

  • Does anyone notice that cyan is a color? The company that made this game is called Cyan.

  • @Microsoftultimatefan Actually, Cyan didn't make this one. Ubisoft did. Cyan made Myst, Riven, Uru and Myst V, but not Myst III and IV.

  • @Dilandau3000 Did they get into some trouble from Cyan?

  • @Microsoftultimatefan No, Cyan supported them (Rand Miller still plays Atrus after all). The reason Ubisoft made this game is because Cyan was busy making Uru at the time.

  • @Microsoftultimatefan yeah, so?

  • @Microsoftultimatefan Yes, Cyan is a colour, which is why the icon included a small cyan planet, as it is actually called Cyanworlds, or Cyan Worlds, not quite sure which one. ANd as Dilandau pointed out, it was Ubisoft which made this. But enough of that info, I actually wanted to ask you in this comment, what your point is with pointing out that Cyan is a colour?

  • @GalaxyGuy12 I was just pointing that out for people who are extremely curious.

  • Dilandau is much better than the other guy he ruins the game

  • @mart2045mart They each have their own appeal. Dilandau manages to come across as significantly less condescending and technical compared to ShadyParadox.

  • most epic myst intro EVER!

  • Ha! Glad I found this. I'll be watching. :)

  • How are the graphics so amazing?!

I know the people are real, but what about the scenery? It's beautiful!

  • This game is so completely beautiful.

I mean, Myst and Riven have their own unique visual style. Very compelling. Can never be replicated.

But this game is just outright gorgeous. It has to be admitted.

  • You could make a good critic one day...

I have to agree that this levels up to Riven, which many have played, but the improved visuals including the pre rendered screens that no longer stood still made it more imerssive.

I miss this artwork style so much.

  • @Shintaka9009 i do admit! ;) i think myst IV is the most beautiful game ever created, although Riven looks impressive too in a way, especially considering the fact that it was released in 1997 which is 7 years earlier.

  • i beat this game. ill most likely remember everything

  • Yay, Sven and Myst are back together again! Looking forward to seeing what's to come with this LP.

Beside the trap book confusion, one thing that was rather odd about this game was the inclusion of modern colloquialisms and slang, such as Yeesha's "cool" and the Serenian priestess's infamous "This is SO not good" later in the game. :) I still chuckle at Yeesha calling the camera an image recorder, though!

  • i'm so excited for this; I loved your riven LP and been hoping you'd do 3 and 4.

the opening scene is very cute, but i think the while "silent protagonist" thing is a little harder to swallow with children.

  • @xgravix I just had a vision of the Stig from Top Gear as the protagonist in Myst. :-)

  • @Dilandau3000 thats what I think the protagonist should be...except without his helmet. XD

  • @xgravix That's because this isn't for kids. It's more aimed towards adults.

  • Just out of curiosity, Sven, what did you think of my mixed-to-negative review of 'Revelation'?

While we're on the subject, I would probably rank the Myst series of games as follows:

    1. Riven

    2. Exile

    3. Myst

    4. Revelation

    Hope you don't mind.

  • I agree with many of your points about Revelation. I'd probably rank Exile lower though. While it had some good puzzles, the Ages of J'nanin just didn't have any sense of history to them, which is what I love most in Myst. In Revelation you at least get to find out what the brothers have been up to by observing the prison Ages, in Exile the Ages are just there to provide you with puzzles, all the story is told through Saavedro's journal and occasional video message.

  • Comment removed

  • I'm so excited; Myst IV at last! You rock, Sven!

  • They put a help guide in the menu! How very unmyst like.

  • This is going to be a good series of videos!

  • Pre-rendered ftw!

  • @ToricoUK indeed because it's possible to make beatiful graphics running smooth on every computer, but that was 2004, wouldnt it be GORGEOUS to have myst IV rendered in realtime 3D exactly like it is right now (so unlike realmyst which looks different). making it realtime would allow you to choose your resolution (imagine a 1080p imac or the 27"!!!) and you could float between the camera positions. should be possible with a descent 2010 machine...

  • @h4x0y Sure, realtime at this quality would be amazing!

  • I'm already gob-smacked that this place is in New Mexico, not another world! I could have been quite near there and never knew.

This is great, I can watch the day's TLJ instalment as I'm waiting for the HD version of Myst IV to load. What a treat to come home to this after a hard day's work. Thanks, Sven

  • Yay Myst once more.

  • Me too. I didn't realise my PC needed an external 3D card so I only got so far in this game until the graphics stopped working properly

  • Looking forward to this series :P
